Brenda and Alvin made all the difference. We had flight issues and arrive after 2200 hrs and they accommodated us cheerfully. Clearly knowledgeable, they provide valuable advise. They even helped us with alternative accommodation when they were fully booked out for the weekend. Coupled with comfortable bed and quiet surroundings, it was a great place after a long flight. Their dogs Tui and Bernie became instant hits with the children. After they left, the kids pined for them and asked to go back. We will certainly stay at Pinewood Motels again if the opportunity presents.

Room Tip: Room 2 is good for families with children. It has great kitchen facilities, separate room for childr...

I have booked 2 nights stay in a standard studio for Jan next year.
This booking was rejected back because the "maximum occupancy of this studio is 2 persons". or we need to pay more for a bigger room

We called up to the motel, whoever answered it was very rude! She said:" Oh you are very lucky!" after i told her the baby has never been charged as a person as she is a infant.

What if I didn't mention about having a baby on my booking? Is Pinewood going to reject us at the door?!

It is not family friendly by using a baby as a excuse for the bad management!!

Be very careful if you have children with you.
Very mean staff!

Yes, we have a maximum occupancy of 2 for our Queen Studio Units. Also, the Motel Association of NZ discourage babies sleeping in the same bed as the parents, and admit this is a nebulous area (especially with different cultures). It is an area that I am not experienced enough to debate in this arena. I do not remember ever being called rude or mean (not even to cold-call companies selling Windows protection!), and it is certainly not my demeanour. You are clearly now going out of your way to give this motel a bad name because you were not willing to pay the extra $20 (twenty) for the Twin Studio Unit. I hope people can see past this. Life is to enjoy. I am sorry this brief telephone conversation has upset you so much. Brenda (owner of Pinewood Motels). Is it fair that someone can post a review without even staying Trip Advisor?

We stayed here last night and I can't begin to say how kind and helpful the owner was to us! She went out of her way to assist us with the Internet problems we initially had, and helped us make plans to spend the next night near Christchurch. She even contacted a lodging for us after reading reviews about it online and checked their prices and availability. Our unit was exceptionally clean and well laid out. We've spent the last 24 days driving both islands and Brenda (the owner) stands out to us as an exceptionally kind and helpful person, she really makes this place special!. Highly recommended motel in an excellent location!

Room Tip: Stayed in a studio, room # 10 (we were only a couple). Happened to see a larger unit that would be w...

I recently spent a night in Fairlie for a friends engagement party, we spent one night here in a two bedroom unit. It was warm, clean and tidy and had a great little kitchenette.
The staff were friendly and had good knowledge of the local area, very helpful with directions!
Lake Tekapo is only a 30 min drive away and well worth a visit.

We stayed here for a night en-route from Christchurch to Lake Tekapo. The unit was very clean and tidy, and as it was August, the heating had been put on prior to our arrival. The proprietors were friendly and helpful, and directed us to the local supermarket and a good pizza place (Pappa g's? - run by a fellow Brit and serving good pizzas)) just around the corner. The price of the unit (via Agoda) was very reasonable too.

We are well positioned for stop-overs on-route between Christchurch and Queenstown, and being only 25 mins away from Lake Tekapo, we are a cheaper alternative for accommodation.
It has been great meeting tourists and fellow kiwis alike, and Fairlie is lucky to have a great restaurant, supermarket, and the best pie shop in New Zealand (sorry Hillyers of Lincoln - but the Fairlie Bakehouse beats you hands down), all within walking distance.

We stayed in a two bedroom unit which was nice and warm. The staff was friendly and showed us how to adjust the heater temperature. The heater was turned on to a very comfortable temperature by the staff while we were out. When we came back from Lake Tekapo at night, it was nice and warm. How thoughtful! They have this little playground with swings, a perfect place to watch the stars. The location is good. There is a four square supermarket nearby and less than 30 minutes drive to Lake Tekapo which is a must go place. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Thank you for your kind words. Being only 25 mins away from Lake Tekapo, it is a very pleasant drive to go on an evening tour at Mt John Observatory, to watch the stars. Or, like a few guests, you can lay on the grass and watch the stars from here. We have been conscious of providing a warm unit for our guests in winter, and now the warmer weather is coming. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Kind regards, Alvin & Brenda

We decided to break up our trip from Wanaka to Christchurch, found Pinewoods and glad we stayed here to break up the trip.
Nice little town with a couple of nice places to eat and close enough to head to the ski fields,
The rooms are nice and well priced, the heater works well and made our stay very comfortable.
New owners have just taken over and are ver helpful and plesant.
Great for an overnight stay or for a few days to explore the area.
Thanks

Room Tip: We stayed in a studio rooms and nice and warm.
