Liz and John are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome from the start.
The fire was roaring, the bedroom was warm and cosy (and even the electric blanket had been turned on as we were arriving late!).
Shared bathroom facilities were more than adequate, all facilities were very clean - we were in an upstairs bedroom.

Perhaps the highlight is Lizzie's breakfast where the homemade porridge and bircher were excellent, and too much of a temptation because the cooked breakfast that follows simply can't be missed!

Also well located for the town centre, and great views of the mountains from the bedroom.

My husband, adult son, adult nephew and myself spent a week at Skibo B & B in Methven with Lizzie and John. It is perfect location both to the beautiful Mt Hutt for snowboarding and to town for all amenities (The Blue Pub and The Brown Pub both in short walking distance and both providing great meals). The view over Mt Hutt and surrounding Mts from our upstairs rooms was beautiful. We had the whole of upstairs which was perfect and felt like home. The rooms were spacious and cosy, the bathroom/shower area very well appointed, the breakfasts healthy, hearty, filling and scrumptious (Lizzie's poached eggs and scrambled eggs are perfect - worthy of masterchef hey Lizzie). My son and nephew devoured the Swiss muesli, porridge, juice, bacon, sausages, eggs and toast with gusto which gave them plenty of energy for our trips up the mountain where I have to say the snow was also amazing. John and Lizzie are the most wonderful and entertaining hosts with great knowledge of local areas (and beyond) and always at the ready with a joke and sense of humour which kept me in stitches. Their kindness and 'no rules' when eating policy allowed this sometimes tired body to sleep in and certainly made our stay very memorable and thoroughly enjoyable. We were grateful for the hot tub under the stars at the end of some very exhausting days and I would not hesitate to go back in an instant or recommend this wonderful B & B to anyone.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms great for families; self contained unit great for couples; perfect for singles also

Great value for a big room with ensuite as well as our own private lounge as there were no other gues. Log fire thrown in too made it very cosy. One of the best b&b breakfasts I've ever had! V close to shops, bars and restaurants.

My daughter and I did a last minute trip to New Zealand to Mt Hutt to fit in a bit of skiing. We were lucky to find Skibo on the net and couldnt have asked for a more welcoming place to stay.
The rooms were lovely and warm, the breakys were delicious and Liz and John were so welcoming and accommodating, they made us feel part of the family.
Because we were last minute they were fully booked one night and we had to find alternative accommodation, which Liz assisted us with and John picked up our bags so that it didnt interfer with our skiing.
The bus to Mt Hutt picked us up at the door which made life easy. It is only a short stroll into town for dinner and Liz helped us with all her local knowledge and went out of her way to make us feel welcome. We hope to return again next year.

Lovely couple, great breakfasts, very accommodating - what more could you ask for?
Lizzy and John made us feel right at home, very comfortable accommodation, easy stroll to centre of town, AMAZING breakfasts cooked fresh every morning with a great selection of food to choose from. We had our own en-suite room with kitchenette, plenty of space for us to relax and stretch out in - bed was extremely comfortable.
Nice hot tub was set to 41.5 deg after a day of skiing was the perfect spot to soak away the aches...

Very comfortable beds, generous and delicious home cooked breakfast and warm friendly hosts.
Great value at only $100 NZD for a double room upstairs. It really does feel like a home away from home with a comfortable guest lounge and free internet. It is also well located - walking distance to the pub!

I recently stayed at Skibo House on a trip with my 84 year old mum. Liz kindly gave us a ground floor room so my mum would not have to negotiate stairs. Our room was very spacious and well equipped with queen bed for her and bunks for me. We also had a small dining table and comfy chair, plus nice ensuite. Our kitchenette was well equipped for our "happy hour" needs.

On arrival Liz was able to recommend a local restaurant and direct us into town, which is within walking distance. She also set the infra-red sauna up for me so that I could enjoy a relaxing sauna before dinner.

The beds were comfortable and we got a good sleep, and the shower has good pressure and plenty of hot water. The breakfast was well cooked, hot and tasty. We also enjoyed the company of the cat, another bonus! We had a nice chat with Liz after breakfast, so it was difficult to tear ourselves away and finally get on the road. A nice B & B experience with someone who has the proper personality to be in hospitality. This is not always the case at B & B's, so it's nice to find someone who enjoys it.
