This is an easy review to write -- if you're going skiing or working in the Methven area, then this should be the choice for you.

The hotel is small, and is owned by Ted, who is somewhere over 80 and still lively and fun. He told me he had only six rooms and his goal was to make them the best rooms in town. To my mind, he succeeded.

The suites are ginormous, with a very spacious living room and a complete kitchen with a full-sized fridge for your convenience. The bathrooms are modern and the towels thick and fluffy. The bedrooms are spare, but certainly totally comfortable. The windows open (not sealed shut as in some many modern hotels); there is a fast-flowing stream right outside the sliding glass door; parking is easy; and dinner is easy to find at the pubs in town; and the price -- while slightly high at $170/night -- is certainly fair for the quality offered.

My complaints are so trivial that I am embarrassed. The bedroom did not have a clock, nor a luggage rack. The walls were bare with almost no artwork or decorations. The TV channel choices were few but apparently that's due to Sky TV and their outrageous prices.

Overall, I agree with "OutdoorAucklanders" that this is a fine choice and you should feel very comfortable booking your stay here.

Don't think any of the four Trip advisor suggestions to make a booking here will work. The only way to book these apartments is to google their name and the website that comes up looks pretty but it will not give you layouts, prices, the cancellation policy, street address (not under location) or even a a secure way to send your card. Its best to ring. I also did not get a boooking confirmation other than "I have booked you in and you need to send your credit card details and the guests names ...." and that comes without a computer signature" Nice people and nice apartments but so unprofessional.

Room Tip: We liked the upstairs unit (mountain end) with ensuites to each bedroom.

Great modern apartments with all the mod-cons and everything we could ask for on our holiday. Location couldn’t be better - a stone throw to many pubs, bars, restaurants and takeways. A supermarket also a very short walk. The apartments were warm (in winter), but not completely soundproof, but once the neighbours turned off the TV, we dozed off easily. We would definitely consider staying there again.

Room Tip: Top apartments would probably be quieter than lower ones.

We stayed 3 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment, which had just the right level of practicality and comfort. The beds were great, spa bath fantastic and kitchen well equipped. Highly recommend - particularly for families.

Room Tip: The rooms look onto a road which is a dead end, so there is very little traffic and very quiet.

Good, clean, modern apartments with well equipped kitchen and laundry. Well placed for the shops and pubs in the middle of town. There is an excellent shared drying room for skiing/boarding equipment. Ted, the owner, is very friendly and obliging.

Ground level units have a deck surrounded by an attractively planted garden for fine days or evenings. The kids fed bread to trout in the stream just out the front. If you need a barbecue, just ask. There's one available.

There were five of us (parents and three kids). The only unit with enough space for five is also set up for wheelchair visitors, so the bathroom only has a shower and not a bath and is not quite a nice as the bathrooms in the other units.

Room Tip: There's a unit equipped for disabled visitors, which is a good thing, but its bathroom is not so good for other visitors.
