As it was raining and snowing the day before, the tour was run with 4WD only (no Argo), we were taken to the face of the Tasman Glacier. The view was magnificent and breathtaking. The 4WD ride was fun! Graeme, Thank you! Excellent!

Tour with Graham was excellent. Lots of information and laughs . Argo ride out in the open was an experience and seeing the Tasman glacier at the end was icing on the cake. Truly amazing. Highly recommended if you are unable to hike the trails by foot.

We (6 of us) took the evening 4:00Pm tour with Graham. He picked us up from the activity centre at the Hermitage Hotel. We were transported to the glacier car park which was about 10 mins drive away from the Hermitage. Then we boarded the 8 wheel argo and the climb through the mountainous terrain started. The entire track is full of small boulders as the surrounding landscape and the journey is bone rattling but real fun. Graham briefed us on the Tasman glacier and the surrounding mountains. On the day we did the argo tour the skies were cloudy and Mt Cook was true to its name - "Aoraki : cloud piercer", and hence hidden. The argo journey lasted around 30 mins. At the end of this Graham walked us up a hill with amazing views down the Tasman glacier and lake giving a totally different perspective from the one we had the next day from the boat trip on Tasman glacier. There were numerous icebergs floating in the lake, and the lake was milky white in colour when seen from above, with black mountains surrounding it !! We had never seen a glacier before, and this was amazing! After spending 15 to 20 mins above the hill with lots of photo ops, we climbed down the hill and started back on the return journey. Graham was kind enough to let one of the children steer the argo under his close guidance. That was a highlight for the little one. Once we reached the carpark, we transferred to the van and was dropped back to the activity centre at Hermitage. By then it was getting dark and had started drizzling. It had started drizzling earlier on our way to the top, however thankfully stopped soon enough. Overall a great trip with a fun guide which made this activity even better. Tip - dress appropriately, layers, head and ear cover, could get really cold with open air travel near a glacier!

This was such an odd excursion into the valley;
The guide is super fun and friendly, he takes you on this 8/10 wheel vehicle.
What I loved was that unlike a chopper ride, where you're far away from things, here you can feel the earth and mountains around you.
At the end of the trip, he will take you up a small hill side, where you can see a valley glacier, and those super tiny boats from the glacier raft trips.
find time for this, and dont take the chopper ride. (take a heli hike instead)
