This would be a great place to while away some bad weather but even on a perfect fine day set aside some time to appreciate a great combination of history, geology, mountaineering and wildlife.
The views are stunning; the facility is well laid out and full of fascinating displays and photos and the staff are very helpful and informative.

Great for all age groups. Nice wee shop also. Great for the history of the area. Visit the centre on every trip.

It was raining at Mount Cook so we took a break from the damp inside the Visitor Centre. Very interesting and informative material here. I especially liked the history of hiking in NZ with all the different kinds of clothing and equipement they used. Also, some very beautiful artwork people have created representing Mount Cook over the years. We spent a few hours here, even though it's not a large place, and really enjoyed our time.

Spent a considerable amount of time here due to the bad weather at mount cook. Definitely worth dropping by for some indoor and relaxing activity to understand the history and geographical facts of Mount Cook (:
