“NEVER AGAIN”
Reviewed 11 November 2011

The pool was closed and filthy and there was nothin for kids to do. There was a set menu for meals (no vegetarian option). The food was disgusting and we were served tiny portions. There was no food available between set meal times and we had power cuts all the time. There were no eating or drinking facilities for miles and there was nothing but a small supermarket within walking distance. The staff weren't too friendly and spoke very little English,if any at all. It was a BIG disappointment and I would NEVER recommend this Hotel!!!!

We had the misfortune to stay at the villa Zena Park last week, the picture on this website bears no resemblance to the hotel!!!!
The pool was unusable as it was the colour of pea soup and full of algae and slime.
The menu was rigid with just one option for dinner amd the food was awful and mostly cold!
Bathroom stunk of drains!
There is NOTHING for kids to do at this hotel and the nearest shop is a 1 mile walk away. There are no other bars or shops.
Hotel staff speak hardly any english and are very unhelpful.
Simply in my opinion the worst hotel I have ever stayed at and we nicknamed it Hotel Paradisio or Fawlty Towers Sicily!

Villa Zina was perfect for our needs as we were driving up the Western coast of Sicily and just needed a place for the night. They are friendly, the rooms are modern and clean, and the breakfast is great. Awesome value and perfect if you have a car.

Several problems arose during my stay, the shuttle bus from the hotel to the beach only ran up until 10th September but the hotel failed to let us/Expedia know this.

The hotel is at least a 25 bus ride from the beach and the buses are infrequent, when asking the receptionists about bus times they were not able to give us accurate times and failed to inform us that Mondays in Sicily are like Sundays in the UK and the buses only ran twice daily. Road leading up to the hotel is very badly lit meaning it's not safe to walk from bus stop to hotel after 7pm. No bars or restaurants nearby meaning a car hire is essential to stay in this hotel.

The receptionist didn't have good English so kept giving us incorrect information. Out of the 5 nights I stayed there the internet wasn't working for 2 of the nights. Wi fi code was incorrect so I had to use hotel computer rather than my laptop. Spa was a great experiemnce but again the 2 days it rained we were hotel bound and they didn't open the spa on a Monday (Hotel's equivalent of a Sunday) so there was literally nothing to do at the the hotel apart from sleep and eat. They had a bar but didn't inform us of this when we checked in. The spa had a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna which were fantastic however each guest can only use for one hour and the cost is 13 euros.

Nearest beach San Vito is great and has lovely restaurants but not many bars nearby, the hotel was advertised as being near Trapani however Trapani is 1 hour away.

I'm 29 and was the youngest person at the hotel, the average age of the guests is 55 years old, this hotel is ideal for retired couples who speak Italian and are not planning on doing much travelling apart from by car. I wouldn't go back or reccomend this hotel to anyone.

We decided on Villa Zina wanting a location that was central to our itinerary. A car is a definite must, though they have car and scooter rentals on-site. Great place to stay and visit S. Vito lo Capo beach, Erice, Segesta, Trapani and anything else in that corner of Sicily. The hotel staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. The rooms were clean and confortable with all the attention of a 4 star hotel. There's a big pool with plenty of chairs and umbrellas and animators entertaining you after a day of sightseeing. We didn't eat at the hotel for supper, but noticed that the outdoor restaurant was packed every night. We would recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind being a little out of the action, but close enough if they choose. We would stay there again.

In a nutshell the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in bar none. The website is full of false advertisements. It is really remote and a car is essential. There are no restaurants or bars near by. The nearest area worth a visit is San Vito Lo Capo which is 15 minutes drive away. We had to hire a car each day which cost 40 euro per day plus petrol because there was nothing to do there. Luckily I had taken my license. There is no beach near by. There is a small shop about 10 minutes walk away and thats it. There was no shuttle bus service, no entertainment, no kids club, no pool bar. However, these services will apparently be available from June 18th! The hotel is clean, the house keeping could not be faulted and the receptionist Francesca was lovely but they were the only positive things. There is only one small shed like bar which is only opened upon request and closed again once you purchase a drink. The gym and spa are also only opened upon request and closed again after. There is one restaurant with a choice of two starters and maincourses for lunch and dinner. A three course meal costs 30 euro which is barely edible. There service was terrible and staff were never helpful. There is what they called a buffet breakfast each morning which consisted of cordial for juice, stale bread for toast, cold scrambled eggs left sitting there from 7am and tinned fruit. The added bonus was the cockroaches scamperring accross the dining area. While we were there for a ten night stay (which felt like 20), there were three teenage parties organised around the pool. They focused all their attention on these parties. Our room was overlooking the pool so we had to listen to an extremely loud band and DJ till 5am on those nights. The pool area is nice and seemed clean until after the parties. The water was then a turbid green colour full of algae clearly due to the urination of the late night revellers. Its was an absolute disgrace and there was no sign of it being cleaned. The building itself is lovely but without a properly run hotel, it was a nightmare from start to finish. If looking into this area, go to San Vito, there were lovely restaurants (Especially Pepper Jam) and the beach was the best ever seen. The hotels there were streets ahead of Villa Zina.

We were not expecting much of this hotel, really, even if it is 4*, becasue we got a great deal.
But it surprised us.
The attention to detail and the amazing courtesy and helpfulness of eac staff member more than compensated for the rather arid views and the middle-of-nowhere location of the hotel. We used it as a base to explore around in that region.
The spa was surprisingly good, for those prices.
The one thing that struck us constantly was the cleanliness, something that is a little lacking in general in Sicily!
The restaurant was quite good, too, if not a fine dining experience, but more than adequate for the post-sightseeing hunger pangs. And they lay out a nice breakfast!

Great little hotel for an economical but very satisfying stay if you are going to west Sicily for the beaches and the ruins.
