We ate here a couple of times both when quiet and when busy.Service was good and no problem finding a table.Requests to change what was in a course were no problem.A good atmosphere and no excessive wait for food either. At least they know exactly how to make an Irish coffee unlike lots of other pubs I could mention.Overall good value and I'd certainly return

We have used the Wheatsheaf regularly upon our visits to the area and have some really good memories of previous meals. BUT on our recent visit the menu seems to have declined and the food was (a) uninspiring and the gammon was uncooked, we complained and an offer was made to replace it, but as we had already started eating, to wait for the gammon to be replaced would spoil the dining experience. We asked for our bill and was told to go to the bar to pay. After a very long delay as the manageress seemed unable to operate the till, we paid the requested amount but did not receive a bill .Despite being told we would not be charged for the one meal, the amount charged did not tally with the menu pricing. We will definitely not be visiting the Wheatsheaf hotel again. We will think very carefully about other Marston pubs in the future.

Thank you for taking some time to review your recent visit to The Wheatsheaf and many apologies that we did not appear to get it right for you. I was pleased to read that you have had some really good memories with us before. From your review I understand that the waitress offered you a replacement Gammon / further cooking but you declinded this. We always try to get things right first time, but unfortunately this does not always happen, if you take the time to let us know that your meal is not cooked to your liking we would ask that you let us put it right for you. I can only apologies for the delay in paying your bill, the lady taking your payment is a new member of our management team and is still training on some of our systems. If you believe you were charged incorrectly, please do call me on 01246 582240 as we need to correct this. Many Thanks - Shane.

I visit here at least 2-3 times a month. I come with my husband and my friends. I visited 3 times in February and was disappointed one out of the three. The food is usually good but on one occasion it fell below par. The staff are always friendly - especially Gregg who always has a smile and an excellent memory for remembering people and their drink preferences.

Next time you are visiting please let me know and we will do our best to make amends. Many Thanks - Shane.

Called in on a busy Sunday. The place had a nice atmosphere and we were shown quickly to a table. Our order was taken Traditional Sunday Roast Beef and within 5 minutes our food arrived. The food looked lovely but that's where it started to go wrong.

The veg tasted frozen, not fresh. The potatoes seemed to have been deep fried instead of roasted. I had the distinct feeling we had been served a ping meal and if I want one of those I'll spend a couple of quid at Iceland. For £26 including a couple of cola drinks I felt we'd been stung.

Next time I'll be driving past.

Thank you for taking some time to give us your feedback from your recent visit. Many apologies that you did not appear to enjoy your Sunday Roast with us. The veg was Carrots, braised red cabbage, buttered curly kale and cauliflower cheese. All our veg, with the exception of garden peas is purchased fresh and prepared/cooked on site. If you would like to discuss your feedback further please give me a call on 01246 582240, Many Thnaks - Shane.
