We visited this Bistro and were initially over-charged for our coffees and cakes - but anyone can make a mistake. I subsequently called to let them know and received a nice message to say "yes, you were overcharged but come and have something on us". On our next visit we mentioned this but were still charged - and what is more were overcharged again (the girl reduced our bill by £1 when we had previously paid £13 instead of £11). We also asked if they had any gluten free options and were told yes, the flapjack is gluten free. However, this was on a plate underneath slices of millionaire shortbread biscuits so would definitely never be gluten free. We were very disappointed, as a whole, with the experience and will never visit again.

Called in here for coffee and cake. The coffee was nice but the cake was only a small piece. Couldn't believe the price when we paid - over £13! So bit on the expensive side - won't be going back.

Bit fed up with the usual offerings of jacket potatoes, paninis and sandwhiches found throughout Derbyshire on lunch menus it was nice to have a big choice of large and small dishes. My husband was very pleased to find plaice on the menu and for it to be simpley grilled without chips but new potatoes. My Greek salad with piri piri chicken was very good although the large quantity of olives did make it rather over salty. We did, however, enjoy our meal in the friendly setting.

Went here for dinner recently and found the meal to be both very good and not so good.
The starters and main courses were excellent. The smoked haddock scotch eggs for starter and steak for main course were both superb. Well cooked, nicely presented and looked amazing.
Dessert was a different matter - found the desserts to be a little plain and a little lacking in that wow-factor that we'd had for starters and mains. The cheese board was okay but would have been nice to know what cheeses there were so I could have told them to hold off on the goats cheese. The ice cream wasn't even local which is odd given how many fantastic local suppliers there are. Coffee was a little disappointing as we couldn't taste much coffee.
Wine selection was good and at reasonable price. Staff were nice and friendly.
Our impression was that the kitchen team really like the savoury side of cooking and are less fussed on the sweet side.
Would have no hesitation on recommending the savouries but would struggle with the sweet section.

3 out of 5 seems harsh as the starters and mains would have been 5 out of 5 - overall meal was let down by the dessert and coffee
