We went to the Wheatsheaf on the 1st of June for a meal after the website advertised that it now caters for coeliacs. We sat in the garden and it was clean and pleasant. We arrived and the normal menu told us to ask for the gluten and wheat free menu.
My sister went to the bar and asked for this and the reply was "I don't understand. It's very difficult you see." So we asked a member of staff in the garden who said they did not actually have one, but did go into the kitchen to see what I could have. He also told me that chips were ok for gluten free. So I had a sweet potato and chickpea curry which was nice, but I would of liked a side of chips, but we had asked a member of staff if they were cooked in the same fryer as gluten containing food- and they said they were- so the chips are not gluten free and could have made me very ill.
Everyone else who was with me had no problems, but I do hate the hard work I had to put in to get a safe meal.
