“very pleasant stay”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

This was a 2 night break booked under Classic British hotels. The rooms were very cosy and the meals superb. The location is the main attraction, on the edge of the Chatsworth estate. Free tickets to the house were part of the deal as was money towards the meals. It is not a cheap option for exploring the area and although the service was very good and everyone polite it must be remembered this is not a five star hotel. If you want full services and amenities, try elsewhere. Nevertheless the hotel was pleasantly filled with paintings and other items and provided a very good atmosphere. Well worth considering.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a superior. Only one room has a walk-in shower, so ask if you need this. Four poster beds...

This is a very quiet and distinct place just in the grounds of Chatsworth House. Magnificent walks and views with amazing service and class restaurant and surrounds. Not sports facilities apart os a mini golf course I missed my gym routine a bit and that had to be compensated by the walks. Price wise it's not the best value around but is certainly one of the best places to stay in luxurious atmosphere without been to much! The rooms are exquisitely decorated and have their own fire places with four post beds and a great seating area with sofas and coffee table (ours was deluxe rooms not suit). I am not sure about the standard rooms, but they must be quit luxurious to!

Room Tip: My room was a deluxe and it was perfect with amazing views and space!

We stayed there for a short break last week. I cannot fault this place, lovely room, lovely bathroom, lovely food, lovely outlook, just perfect. You have to go and stay there! Dining in the Gallery Restaurant is a very very pleasant experience. I want to go back now !!!

Room Tip: Well any room really, we had room 17, which overlooked the fields, and the footpath to Chatsworth Ho...

We had dinner in the gallery restaurant. Two courses cost £35 with supplements for some choices. Wine started at circa £20. The food was excellent with a variation of tastes and flavours. Service was also very good. The price was higher than we would normally pay but the quality made it value for money. We will visit again.

We booked a weekend break and it was really special. We stayed in a suite which was like a small house. Downstairs had a lovely sitting and dining area and the bedroom was upstairs, with another sitting area. There were bathrooms on both floors. If you book the romantic weekend break there is champagne and chocolates on arrival.
We dined the first night in the dining room and the food was excellent. We were considering a wine, and the sommelier actually suggested a better, less expensive wine which was delicious! Breakfast was really good too. I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. John had a kipper.
The next night we ate in the bar and, to be honest, the food was fine for bar food, but not great.
Staff were terrific and the setting is just wonderful. We walked on the path to Chatsworth House and that was a really happy day.

Room Tip: If you can get the suite - DO!

Having taken up the Sunday offer we were pleasantly surprised with its setting in the beautiful village of Baslow. The hotel staff were welcoming and friendly.
We were helped to our room by the concierge and were delighted with our room (18). The outlook was beautiful with a corner room overlooking fields.
On arrival we enjoyed the cream tea with champagne.
Dinner was served in The Gallery restaurant which was well presented. The menu was impressive and we enjoyed our three courses which was of a very high standard indeed.
The breakfast choice was excellent and being walkers, we were ideally situated for a walk around the Chatsworth Estate.

The hotel is everything you would expect for a luxury country getaway. We stayed in a room with a four poster bed and lovely views over the countryside. The evening meal was delicious and the service from all the staff was really good. The breakfast again was good quality and the restaurant has relaxing views over the countryside. The location is perfect for a weekend break. It is close to Bakewell and a short walk across the fields to Chatsworth House. A very enjoyable stay at a hotel that I would recommend.
