My husband booked a one night stay for our anniversary as a surprise. I felt thoroughly spoilt and indulged. The meal was fantastic, staff efficient and friendly. The room was luxurious. Breakfast equally good. Lovely little touches made us feel comfortable and relaxed.

Probably not, but it deserves it. We have been meaning to go for years and finally arranged an overnight stay as a birthday treat. From the time we arrived, we had a lovely time. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, the room (in the garden extension) was large and comfortable and the food was wonderful. A Michelin-star restaurant was a new experience for us, and one we really enjoyed (except for the insistence on keeping your bottle of wine on a separate table to be administered by the waiter - why?) The dining room is quiet and quite small. From the nibbles with drinks to the desserts - a souffle that looked huge but was light as a feather - all the food was delicious with constant interest in the flavours and combinations. Overall a memorable way to spend a birthday, and lovely grounds and garden to wander round after breakfast.

The good thing about Baslow Hall is the food which can only be described as superb. There were four people in our party, we all ate different choices from the a la carte menu and there compliments for everything. The only fault was the head waiter who didn't engage in any conversation and simply minced about, described the food in ridiculous detail and disappeared. The other waiter didn't speak much English but was very attentive. We had coffee in the lounge area after dinner which is cramped, not particularly smart and noisy even though there were only four other guests there.
We stayed the night and the hotel can only be described as good but not exceptional. Our two bedrooms were clean and comfortable. My wife's complaint was that there was no power point for the hair dry within reach of a mirror.
We felt that there was no management involvement in the hotel with nobody in overall charge and some of their staff need to sharpen up their act. There was a young lady at reception and she did here job efficiently and pleasantly. We had tea on arrival served by an older woman who was not particularly smartly dressed and she shuffled about.
I suggest definitely eating here but staying somewhere else and you will save some money while not being disappointed.

I travel a lot with business and stay at many hotels that do a job for a business travel, and I have to say this hotel takes service and standards to the next level. We stayed for 2 nights and a very relaxing time both nights with a good nights sleep. The rooms are spacious and lovely and warm without being oppressive. We ate in the restaurant and had the standard menu one night and the taster menu on the second. The food was fantastic and it was a real treat to taste such well crafted meals. With the taster menu we chose the additional wine option. The attention to detail in the menu and the wine choice was brilliant. Is it an expensive weekend, yes. But this is somewhere to come to celebrate and treat yourself to real luxury

Room Tip: We had the garden room 5 which was very well appointed.

My wife and i have survived 25 years of marriage this year.

We have allowed ourselves a few treats, this is one we will remember fondly.
Two nights at Fischers with two dinners, one a la carte, the other the tasting menu

This is a one star Michelin restaurant, my wife is Gluten free, and had a choice of virtually every dish on the menu.
Wonderful for her and me, they knew and they cared. Thank you

For the rest of us the food was so good, Great venison, the short rib was wonderful. My wife is a fish fan, she really liked the langoustine and the scallops on the tasting menu. The Winter Tree Trunk desert is so clever.

Breakfasts are a very good, We had a gluten free picnic, so we could go for a long walk nearby.

Nothing is too much trouble, for peace, the promise of a very good meal and a good breakfast, go.

We stayed in the Garden rooms away from the house, very comfortable, good bathrooms, just mind the heating, it can get too warm.

Spent the night at Fischer's for our wedding anniversary. We opted for the Taste of Britain menu which was simply amazing. The food, wine and service was all brilliant. Not cheap but worth it for a special occasion. The room was lovely, nicely decorated with some nice touches. Breakfast was also really good. The granola is lovely (as a breakfast starter for the full English)!
