“Shining Independant star amongst plethora of mediocrity”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2014

We enjoyed a superb meal at Rowleys this evening. A well deserved 2 AA rosette restaurant in an old pub on the main road through Baslow. An ordinary external facade belies the funky interior and we enjoyed being seated at the chefs table with a great view into the immaculate kitchen. Our three children enjoyed their simple pasta dishes followed by sticky toffee puddings. We enjoyed miso coated king prawns, smoked haddock, sea bream and the most superb chicken and ham hock pie. Friendly and attentive service. Absolutely fantastic, thank you.

“Excellent food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2014 via mobile

Ate here two nights in a row. Can recommend the fish soup. At £9, not cheap, but a cut down bouillabaisse at a fraction of the cost. Fish and chips excellent also.
Next night was pie and pint night at £12.75. Girlfriend thought cottage pie superb, I had the ham hock, chicken and leek with I think parsley sauce, may have been another herb. Fantastic!!
Highly recommended.

“A lovely evening”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 April 2014

My husband and I called in recently without a reservation - it was mid-week so we did not think we needed to book. The 3 female staff on that evening were welcoming, friendly (but not too much) and efficient. The food was well presented and well cooked.

We will certainly be returning and have recommended Rowleys to friends.

“Lovely meal with friends”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 April 2014

We enjoyed a pleasant evening meal here with friends. The hospitality was warm and the staff very efficient. I can remember it as the Prince of Wales public house in my younger days and it has certainly gone upmarket. One small matter that could be improved was the route to the rest rooms, at the top of the stairs you could have thought you were going into the kitchen by mistake. this could be alleviated by better signage and some housekeeping. That did not detract from an overall wonderful experience, the food was yummy and we will definitely return again.
