“Ideal Location”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

We booked a Superior apartment which was on level 30 with wonderful views of Surfers and the ocean. I felt the apartment was a bit tired and in need of a good coat of paint. Compared to our friends' cheaper Ocean view apartment on a lower level, the only thing which was "Superior" was the view which was not really much different and worth the extra money. To me it seemed their apartment was more upmarket than ours. I have stayed in cheaper and much nicer apartments and feel these are rather overpriced. However Beach Haven is in a great location, close to the beach and many retaurants and cafes. There is a Woolworths supermarket nearby and it's a fairly easy walk to Pacific Fair and Jupiters. So if you want a modern nicely decorated and cheaper apartment, look elsewhere but if you want fantastic views, go to Beach Haven.

Room Tip: Ask for North facing with ocean and city views.

The Beach haven has spacious apartments to rent. We didn't know this at the time, but each apartment is individually owned. We had an ocean view apartment and the view was amazing! The staff are friendly and we were able to buy our theme park tickets at the reception, which saved us a lot of time and money. The decor is dated but comfortable. Wifi is only available from the reception floor, but they looked to be doing a lot of improvements and renovations while we were there. The location is brilliant. It' so close to Oasis Shopping mall and a short monorail ride away from Jupiters Casino and Pacific Fair Shopping Centre. We had a fantastic stay and didn't want to leave!

Room Tip: The higher up, the better the view!

This is the second time I have stayed here but this time we chose their only (as at July 2013) three bedroom apartment available for holiday rental - in 2012 we stayed in a 2 bedroom "B" apartment ("B" class means not right at the front of the building - it does not mean they are inferior apartments) on the 19th floor and I did a review here in Trip Advisor about that last year - "A" class apartments are right at the very front of the building, meaning even better views - a second 3 bedroom "A" class apartment is currently being totally renovated/fitted out (on level 30) straight under our apartment which was on level 31 which is the second level from the top of the building - I was fortunate enough to meet the owner this "new" 3 bedroom level 30 apartment and he said it will become available for rental in September/October 2013.

We stayed in apartment 31G and I can tell you we had fabulous views from balconies on 3 sides of our apartment - to the north towards the skyscrapers of Surfers Paradise, to the east over the lawned park below and across to the beach and Pacific ocean and then views to the south right along the coastline towards Coolangatta/Tweed Heads in the distance - it can get quite windy up that high and being at the front (ocean facing) of the building but the great thing was that if we could not go out onto our balcony on one side of our apartment due to strong breezes then we simply went out onto the other side balcony and there was little or no breeze.

The thing we noticed was that apartment 31G has 3 toilets and 3 bathrooms which was great for us as we had a married couple using the master bedroom and ensuite bathroom/toilet, then my sister had the second bedroom and toilet/bathroom nearest to her bedroom and I had the third bedroom and the third toilet/bathroom which was straight opposite my bedroom door.

The apartment has those big shiny white (ceramic?) floor tiles in the living areas which gave it a great modern look and the bedrooms are carpeted. - the kitchen is a reasonable size, there is a big dining space with table and 6 dining chairs - the lounge room is a good size with a big modular sofa (not as comfortable as we'd like) that easily seated 6 adults. The great thing about the lounge room was that it sort of just out at the front part of the apartment such that if you open the curtains on 3 sides of the lounge room you get views to the north, east and south - BUT, during the day it is very bright with all curtains open and tends to wash out the big TV screen so we found we often had to keep some of those curtains closed to be able to watch TV.

A minor issue was one of the 3 wall mounted hair dryers not working and after reporting this to the front desk they checked it out and gave us a new hair dryer to use. We felt that some of the appliances in the kitchen (microwave, stove and hot plates) are getting a bit dated and hence a bit of updating needs to be done in that area. The internal parts of the split system air conditioners looked fairly new so we thought that the owner/s of apartment 31G might be progressively renovating the apartment.

We did not use any of the other facilities in the building (pools, spas etc) and we noticed the foyer/front desk area on the ground floor has been renovated with a lovely brightly coloured caesarstone frontage to the main counter - looks to be new carpets in that area and walking up to the elevators - we were also told that Beach Haven has spent a small fortune replacing the elevators etc and I must say they worked very well.

Finally, a couple of minor issues - you will not get much of a discount (if any) when you book apartment 31G because it is currently the only 3 bedroom apartment available in a building full of 2 bedroom apartments - it is normally $330 a night and I managed to get it for $325 a night after some haggling (2 of us are pensioners) whereas when we were there last year we got a very good discount for a 2 bedroom apartment because they have nearly all 2 bedroom apartments and we were there in the Low Season (winter).

The other thing that surprised us was that after paying one night's deposit of $325 late in 2012 to secure this apartment, we were handed an account for the balance upon arrival only to find the balance owing was about $1,000 more than my original booking confirmation/deposit paid email quoted! I took this up with the front office and showed them the email they'd sent me back then showing the balance outstanding and they immediately re-did the account with the correct amount owing - we could not work out how they arrived at such a high balance owing and the explanation offered did not really help but nevertheless they did quickly resolve the matter. I guess the lesson here is when you do your booking you should always ask for an email confirming the booking, the number of nights, apartment type, the deposit paid and the amount owing to be paid upon arrival and then print it out and take it with you so that there are no rude surprises when you arrive at Beach Haven.

As I posted last year, Beach Haven is in a brilliant location on Albert Ave, Broadbeach so close to the beach, shops, eateries and the Woolworths supermarket and hence we highly recommend staying at Beach Haven.

Stayed there for 7 nights from 8/6/13 to 15/6/13. Got a very good deal when I "Like" them in Facebook. Paid AU$1,001 for 7 nights for a 2-bedroom Ocean view. Even though I've encountered a few hiccups with the resort staffs about the credit card payment, I am still satisfied with their service. Location was excellent! I didn't rent a car or drive but it is so convenient to take their local buses to the Theme Parks, Gold Coast airport, Currumbin, Surfers Parades, Coolangatta etc! Anyway, the resort staff placed me on a newly reburbished room 17C! Every room has awesome ocean view! The whole unit was clean & they provide fresh clean towels daily! Beach Haven also provide electronic card for me to enter the resort safely at night when the reception is closed for the day. The Woolworth supermarket is conveniently located near the Beach Haven resort & there are plenty of cafes, bistro, restaurants nearby. The Kurrawa beach is located just a stone away too! Overall, I had a lovely time in Gold Coast with Beach Haven resort! :)

Just back from an excellent 5 nites staying in level 27 Apt A, beautifully refurbished unit with wide ocean views up and down the coast. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full laundry, kitchen etc and a carpark if you need it. Nice to get an early check in and welcome pack of snacks.Handy to Broadbeach Oasis Mall with restaurants/ supermarket. Park and beach across the road. 2 outdoor pools, 1 indoor heated and spa, tennis courts...kids were very happy.Yes these are apartments not a hotel, so room clean after a week although towels will come everyday if you want. Yes you have to put the rubbish out,and get your own loo rolls so what! All apartments operate that way that we have stayed in. Plenty of space and facilities if you don't want that.... pay another $100 a nite to stay in a small hotel room that wont cater for kids !. Happy Days.
