“Fantastic tapas and great monitor”
Reviewed 14 January 2014 via mobile

Tapas was really nice And big servings (for tapas). We had prawns in chimichurri, buffalo wings, beef rib (which was really big), chicken strips (can't remember what these were called but had tomato and black beans) and bread with dukkah-type dip and olive oil. All great and plenty for 2 adults and an 11yr old. Service was excellent too. My favourite was the mojito. Bit expensive but all the restaurants in this area are.

“Great atmosphere, food and cocktails ”
Reviewed 23 December 2013 via mobile

Relaxed atmosphere offering a great range of cocktails and other drinks too. We had mojitos which were delicious and made with quality ingredients and good rum. Paella and mojito chicken for main meal were really good. Great flavours. Good service especially for late on the Monday night before Xmas.

“Great tapas”
Reviewed 23 December 2013

Excellent service, great cocktails and delicious tapas were to be had at The Cuban. Three of us shared the charcoal grilled prawns, juicy portobello mushrooms, red snapper ceviche, plaintain, beef capapcio, and best of all, beef short ribs, from the tapas menu. The food was fragrantly spiced and beautifully presented. The waiting staff were knowledgeable about the food and the service was attentive and unobtrusive. There was a vibrant atmosphere with great music. I can't wait to go back.

“5 chances to get it right...”
Reviewed 22 December 2013 via mobile

A group of 7 of us went to the Cuban after a recommendation from a friend.

We got there about 9pm and walked into a bustling restaurant. We were all seated and offered drinks and food menus. We quickly noticed that the menu we looked at online was different to the one we were given. We were advised it had been changed the day before. Problem #1.

4 of the table ordered the tapas, leaving 3 having main meals. Drinks arrived promptly and we were visited by a street magician!

Two of our steaks arrived, followed by nachos. Problem #2 - we didn't order nachos. Neither steaks were touched as we were waiting for the rest of the food to come. After a couple of minutes the plates of food were taken and given to the table next to us...

So eventually our correct food did arrive. Minus 1 main meal. Problem #5. The waitress said 'it was just coming - the chef had made the wrong one' - still nothing after 15 minutes, and everyone else had finished their food. When the dish arrived it was wrong. We called the waitress over again and explained we'd ordered a prawn and rice dish with black beans, and what was in front of us was lamb, chicken and prawns.

The waitress took the dish back, only to bring the correct dish back 10 minutes later. It was prawn and onion in a tomato sauce, with no black beans. It bore no resemblance to the description on the menu. Problem #4. We pointed this out again and she said this meal would be free along with the drinks.

We asked for a round of free drinks for the table as way of an apology and she went to speak with her manager. She came back with 2 mojitos just for my girlfriend and I, nothing for the other 5. Problem #5.

We paid the bill (minus the problem dish and drinks for one person) and quickly got out and went to a local bar.

Shambles. I guess because of the high amount of holiday trade consistency has gone out of the window and complacency has set in.
