Madison's is a family favourite - we visit every time we stay at the Coast during hoidays. It's always busy, busy, busy with service usually quick and efficient. An amazing choice of cakes and slices is available to accompany your well-made cup of coffee. My only suggestion to visitors ... be mindful of the somewhat chaotic queuing strategy for breakfast service. There are usually three baristas set up at their own service points to prepare your hot drinks and plate your cakes/slices - you can queue at any of these points. However, when you throw a breakfast order into the mix, you're not really sure at which service point to queue (ie, on the side where cakes/slices are ordered, or inside the establishment). I joined what I thought was the breakfast queue on a busy Saturday morning, but was disappointed to see this rather long queue overlooked by the baristas who served anyone who 'came from the side' (ignoring the queue) and placed their orders. Some thoughtful attention to a fairer queuing strategy - perhaps some well-placed signage at meal times or even the offer of table service for those wanting meals - would go a long way in ensuring that patient but hungry customers (including those with young, less patient children) avoid feeling frustrated in the 15 minutes it takes them to get to the front of the queue. It all comes down to greater customer awareness (and even the staff member facing a long queue, indicating that the other service points are available for meal orders). Other than that, the meal was worth the wait - just!
