just back from a week in this lovely villa , must admit to being a bit apprehensive after reading some of the bad reviews but on the whole i feel they were unjustified. we stayed in a 3 bedroom villa (no 5) a family of 9 ranging from age 10 to 89. the rooms were all spacious and clean , yes they are decorated in a traditional spanish theme but i don't consider that to be a negative. we had 2 bedroom in the main building (internal doors unlike some i read about) plus a granny flat with separate entrance and 3 double sofa beds downstairs where there was also a pool table and jacuzzi. the cleaners came in every other day and left fresh towels , they changed the bedding once which i found was more than sufficient as we were only there for a week.
can't understand comments about jacuzzi water being dirty as you fill it yourself?? and yes there may be the odd broken tile around and a couple of the sun beds didn't adjust but i think you have to be a bit sad to spend your holiday taking photos of every little fault!
we did not have high expectations and were pleasantly surprised, we found the villa to be clean and comfortable with everything you could possibly need, including fans in all the bedrooms,, safe , dishwasher and washing machine however if you are expecting a brand new 5* villa then you might be disappointed.
we were all inclusive and wish we had gone self catering as the trek up to club caleta for meals was too much for my elderly parents ,also i wish the jacuzzi had been upstairs like some of the villas i saw as the steps down were too steep for them to manage. apart from that all in all we had a lovely relaxing break.
as far as club caleta goes we found the reception staff very helpfull, restaurant staff were lovely and meals were not bad, breakfast great, lunch generally good, dinner a bit hit and miss. the major let down was the bar with miserable staff and uncomfortable surroundings since the only one open was the outdoor pool bar area , this was far too cold and windy to sit comfortable so we didn't bother!

Room Tip: villa 5 has 2 internal bedrooms rather than the external ones , this block is also slightly nearer t...

Myself and my partner have just returned from a lovely weeks holiday. I was slightly worried prior to going due to some of the reviews. I found the reception staff to be very helpful. Our villa was indeed dated but well clean also well equipt. we had a few ants but a spray of repellant did the job. My only moan would be having to pay for tv channels and the down stairs jaquzzi was unusable due to smelly brown water. The resturants on the complex werent up to much so we walked into town for most meals. We will go back to villas vip

Quite a shock when we arrived at caleta Dorada, greated buy a surly receptionist, who obviously didn't want to be there, she gave us directions to our villa and off we went.very obviously this large complex needs much work, very scruffy walkways, etc, but when we eventually found our villa ,it was lovely very clean and lovely pool, biggest downfall was only one key, and all bedrooms opened off the patio ,not ideal having to lock adults in there room with no access to bathroom etc, needless to say we slept with our suitcases in front off an unlocked door, that said the villa was-well equipped ideal for s/c,we did have quite a problem with ants as often happens in hot countries ,they were even in two off the beds, although the maid was very thorough, and beds were changed every 2 days,so I don't no the answer to that problem!! also Some off the biggest cockroaches I have ever seen yuck ,so we left the lights on all the time, which kept them out off view.,we went all inclusive,,,mistake the food was awfull, always cold,I can usually find something to eat,and have often thort people too fussy when reading reviews in the past, but this is easily the worst food we have had on holiday .the breakfast was the best off a bad lot,the restaurant was very scruffy a glorified hut certainly wouldn't want to dress for dinner ,as would look totally out off place, two days before we left a lot off children arrived on a school football trip / holiday, with teachers, the "canteen" as we called it became a shambles ,kids running a mock with food and drink, charging about etc, with no teachers intervention, they showed no regard for any other guests ,the staff where at a loss to say anything as the teachers where there,I have nothing against children I might add having had 4 off my own, we only went to the pool bar once in 10 days,it was a good long way from our villa and very dirty, only 2young girls serving drink and snacks, most tables where uncleared off piled up half full glasses, and half eaten toasties,we ended up buying wine etc to take back to the villa,so the all inclusive was a total waste off money for us.On the positive side the weather was fantastic and we had a very restfull holiday ,,10days off relaxing which was what we wanted, which was just as well because there was nothing else to do.needless to say I won't be going again, and have closed the book on this holiday, putting it down to experience an expensive one at that .

Room Tip: Villas are nice ,chalets dreadful.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa in August 2013. 2 adults and 3 children. Because of the unusal arrangement of the villa, all doors open onto the patio garden, we had our youngest child in our bedroom. The teenagers loved the fact they had their own entrance to their bedroom. They also really enjoyed the pool room in the basement, which although full of broken/lifted tiles, was a bonus as guests could stay the night and it had it's own shower room. The Villa itself was showing a lot of signs of wear and tear, no door would shut with being lifted and slammed, the toilets often blocked and the jacuzzi water had a rather nasty smell. Not that it stopped the kids using it, they just washed off in the pool afterwards. On the plus side the villa was so private, the pool was spotless (cleaned every day), the maids came every other day to clean the villa and patio. The local supermarket was just 2 minutes away and had everything you needed, it wasn't expensive either.
As for the all inclusive element, Club Caletta Dorada, the hotel complex, is not a place we would ever return to. Food was plenty, self service canteen style, but it was the same basic choices day after day, with a different style of meat or fish. To get a drink you had to queue for quite some time. Busy times was a nightmare, we went without drinks, the wait was too long. If it rains at meal times, get to the restaurant straight away or you'll be queing in the rain outside, or inside squashed between people eating at tables. Not fun. The bar area is basic, but fine, drinks were generally served in plastic cups, not nice. If you like kareokee and bingo, you're in for a treat. It wasn't for us. The mini disco was popular, but sadly a few nights was hijacked by drunken holiday makers. Luckily we had our own pool, but we noticed that unless you put your towel on a bed at the crack of dawn, you don't get a sunbed. The pool area had slides and a small water park, I took my 6 year old to play here one day but it was so crowded she didn't want to go back. All in all the holiday was average, we were glad to come home. We wouldn't go back, the resort is shabby and neglected in parts. But the villa did it's job and having your own pool was a bonus.

We have just returned from 14 days in VIP villas and had a brilliant time. We were 2 families, 3 adults and 3 teenagers. There was ample space and more beds in basement in pool room. The villa was well equipped, clean and roomy. The cleaner came 3 times a week and did a good job. The pool man came every day and again did a good job. We called out maintenance on 2 occasions and both times we had a workman with us within an hour and job done efficiently. We were in villa 12 which was next to Saturday market so there was a bit of noise n a Saturday but nothing unbearable. The airport is only ten minutes away so we did hear planes during the day but it didn't bother us. We hired cars for the middle week which were a good idea as we could get around the island easily, many of the attractions are spread out over the island. Only real down side is transfer to and from airport. Would definitely recommend hiring a taxi both ways from and to airport as transfers were a bit chaotic. A very enjoyable holiday x

We have just returned from a week all inclusive at VIP Villas, and we really enjoyed the holiday. We , being myself, my wife, son (18) and my wifes elderly parents. Firstly the weather was brilliant which really made the holiday, but the accommodation was very good also. We stayed in villa 7, which gave us privacy. Our pool area was not overlooked. We made use of the three bedrooms in the villa, all of which were within the villa, not opening onto the pool area as in other reviews. The villa was spotless, and the maid came three times during our stay. The beds were changed on each visit , as were all the towels. The pool maintenance man also visited three times and cleaned the pool. The kitchen had all the equipment anybody could want, cooker, fridge freezer, microwave oven, dishwasher, washing machine, all the crockery and cutlery needed, there was even a toasted sandwich maker. The lounge had two sofas, a nice large table and six chairs, a television and DVD player, and also a music system. The master bedroom had a comfortable double bed, wardrobe, dressing table and also two armchairs. The other two bedrooms each had two single beds, a wardrobe and dressing table. There were fans in all three bedrooms. The bathroom was good and the shower was excellent. Downstairs in the basement was another bathroom with jacuzzi , toilet and wash hand basin. There was also a half size snooker table in the basement, with pool balls and four usable cues. Yes, I have to agree with other reviews, that there are things where some maintenance would not go amiss, there are for instance some broken tiles. The one thing that lets these villas down is the Caleta Dorada Hotel. We went all inclusive, so we had meals in the "restaurant". I think that the description of self service cafeteria better suits it. There was always a soup available, plenty of salad also, the main course did change each mealtime, but it was nothing outsanding, usually three choices, a meat, a fish and something else. It was edible but not particularly apetizing. The sweets were always, cake, tinned fruit, and ice cream. Our biggest problem was the fact that we had not been prepared for the uphill and down hill slopes between our villa and the hotel self service cafe. One of our party has a mobility problem, and had it not been for the fact that we hired a car, we could not have gone the short distance between villa and cafe several times a day. I feel that I need to stress that this accommodation is not suitable for people with mobility difficulties. I think that the only thing that I have not mentioned is the emotive subject of the aeroplanes. These villas are directly below the flight path into Fuerteventura airport. The first plane flies over at 7.30 in the morning, quickly followed by two or three more, but as the morning and afternoon progress, they are not so frequent. One day I noticed there was nearly an hour without any planes. Early evening they are a little more frequent, but by 9.30pm they stop. We weren't bothered by them and certainly would not let it stop us from going again.
So would we go again? Yes Definately. Next time it will be on a self catering basis, so the only visits to the hotel will be to book in and out.

Stayed in Villa 4, 2 adults 3 children 15/14/8 yrs. The villas (18 all together - 8 at the front of the complex 1-8 and 10 at the back 9-18) they are part of the hotel Caleta Dorada. Very spacious, throughout. You could comfortably get 10 people in. There are two bedrooms one with a double bed and the other with twin beds (down in the basement with the pool table there are three double sofa beds). All the rooms (bathroom, living room and two bedrooms) open out on to the pool area a bit strange I know but you get used to it. We had the one key and locked our bedroom door at night and the two older children had the other key to lock their door. Sleeping arrangements were a bit awkward for us the two older children went in the twin room but there wasn't enough room in the double bed to get two adults and my eight year old and we didn't want to be down in the basement away from the other two children, so to solve the problem I bought in one of the sun loungers from by the pool and made it a bit more comfortable by padding it out with the three thick wooly blankets then covered it with a sheet, job done. I managed to sleep on it but I can sleep on a washing line. Be careful of ants I found some in the wardrobe so moved the clothes out of there. Also in the kitchen, the bathroom and around by the pool. No air conditioning although both bedrooms had a fan. Bed clothes changed once during the week and villa cleaned twice. Pool cleaned and filled up twice. Plenty of towels and toilet paper. Pool table in the basement occupied the children when it got to hot for them outside. Jacuzzi a bonus I think I may install one at home cause my boys have never been so clean. The jacuzzi is downstairs in the basement it may seem strange tho it has no roof. Also down in the basement is another toilet and wash basin. The pool was great, a bit cold for some who slowly edged their way in down the steps but if you just jump right in you'll be fine. Five sun loungers and a parasol (note take the parasol down if it gets windy, we had to retrieve ours from the pool) I noticed some of the other villas had big bbq's perhaps because they were self catering, we went all inclusive (we had the use of the facilities on the complex Caleta Dorada) so we didn't need one. Big flat screen tv and dvd player and stereo system. Note be careful if you have children there are channels freely available that are not suitable for the young (if you know what I mean). There is a washing machine, dish washer, large fridge freezer, microwave kettle, toaster, four ring cooker and oven with grill, everything you need to go self catering. Double sink in the bathroom upstairs with a shower, toilet and bidet. The villa catches the sun all day. There is a safe fixed in the wardrobe in the bedroom, you are given a key for it along with your villa keys, we seperated ours. Airport noise - isn't that bad at all. Market on Sunday on the complex. There are places to eat on the complex and two little supermarkets. The walk down to the beach takes about 10/15 minutes where there are more places to eat and a few shops and a supermarket. Nice walk around to the left to the floating shop in the harbour (you can walk further around but it was too hot for my little one to carry on) Nice and clean beach with sun beds and parasols to hire. Volley ball courts a little park for the kids. The other way takes you around over some waste ground to the shopping centre (not very impressed) and more places to eat. Nice for a walk tho. Tip don't have transfers from the airport it is literally a stones throw away and taxis are waiting in abundance. The transfer company we had wasn't at all organised we had to wait a good hour for the bus to turn up and then we ended up having our own mini bus as there wasn't enough room for us (at least we didn't have to go around dropping people off) but we could have started our holiday so much sooner. All staff from the receptionist to the dining room staff, bar staff, cleaners and the pool man were very pleasant (all of them over worked the staffing is a big issue). Lots of stray cats, the complex has it's own catery I don't know if that's a good thing tbh. We went all inclusive so we had the use of the facilities offered by the hotel Caleta Dorada (see my other review on hotel Caleta Dorada)
