Stayed at Castillo Mar for two weeks in september and had a great relaxing time.
This was the first time we had not gone through a major tour operator package holiday and were not sure what to expect but much to our delight it was a very pleasant place to stay. Week one was so peaceful we just could not believe how quiet it was week two was not the same as a few very noisy families turned up we thought we would avoid this as the schools had gone back but hey ho
The complex itself was clean and tidy with a nice pool area with plenty of sunbeds our duplex was in need of a bit of attention but nothing to spoil your stay it just needed a lick of paint, tidy rear garden and an oven would have been good. Having a washing machine was great.
That old saying comes to mind which is you get what you pay for and for what we paid we could not fault it.
There are plenty of places to eat and drink don't just stick to the small square around the apartments just a short stroll up the road leads you to a lot of restaurants the Aberdeen steak house is very good value for money 9 euros wil get you a three course meal (avoid the fish) the Indian fusion 22 was good but be prepared to pay about 50 to 60 euros Fado rock at the end of
the road was good as well. Going a bit further over to the left to the next bar and restaurant area was a very nice italian restaurant La Bodeguita (might have spelt that wrong) with great food and very friendly staff a bit further down is the sixties bar/cafe that does a good cheap breakfast and nice coffee, around the area of the complex there are good places to eat and drink. Bar Studs is good if you want to watch the football they have loads of TV's showing all the live saturday prem league games, the Kings arms is a good pub (no food) and the Legends bar has good live 60's music.
The beach area is man made and a fair size but a parasol and two sun beds will cost you 9 euros if you dont mind a walk keep going for another 10/15 minuets over what looks like waste ground (loads of people walk along there) leads you to a much nicer beach
If you want a great experience visit Cool Runnings (http://www.freewebs.com/fuertetrikes) and book a trike trip we got to see a lot of the island when booking an eight hour trip they also do tours of 4 and 6 hours.
Overall Fuerteventura is a nice Island and Castillo Mar a nice complex, would I make it my two week holiday again? probably not as there are a lot more places i would like to visit, would i go back for a cheap weeks break yes I would
