Stayed here on a timeshare basis, in Lake complex, which I am told is higher quality than some of the other areas. Friendly efficient staff, electronic pass key into the fenced complex, wifi in reception, not in each room. Wifi at the bar for customers. Our bungalow and the wholeplace was clean and lovely and quiet and we would return.
Some points for travellers.
March april may you may get unexpected hay fever, first time I went to Fuerteventura I was ill without much sneezing until we figured it out and I got Loratiden which cured my symptons. This year I dosed up for days in advance and no problem, we heard others sneezing. We had to pay deposits on all keys and tv remote control. The tv incorporates a dvd player but the TV is small and crt and no english news channel was available. I think there was 1 english movie channel. All of the bars have a complete range via Sky of course.

Self catering, ask for a bottle of water in your room before you arrive,as on first arrival you may not find the shops, although they do open quite late. Comprehensive kitchen with 2 electric rings, kettle toaster microwave and oven, but a lack of useful saucepans.
The Hyperdino supermarket sells fresh croissantes, but the larger one in town sells them in bags of 3 for 99cents and they are to die for, worth going on holiday just to acquire the best croissantes in the world.

Do not be misled with the "Beach" being 10 mins walk, i am a regular walker, and the centre is a good 15 mins walk and the beach is 5 mins more. These are CASTILLO beach bungalows there are many with similar names, Castillo Beach "Lake" Castillo Beach SOL, & others -
On arriving, with my daughter ,my thoughts were the place looked ok, but the reception staff soon put me off. They were very offhand, unfriendly and as i was half expecting ...my room had been cancelled, some confusion over the booking typical! i had doubts as per other reviews , and i doubled checked by email and even emailed the travel company -but that is another story. The lady on reception was not helpful, was not interested and i had no room , she also said they were full. I kicked up a fuss and said i would sleep in reception if i had to as i had paid in full for my booking. Eventually i was found a room, which was very basic, with beds that were on their last legs. i had to cough up 30 Euros. I did not sleep that night.
It took me 3 days to sort out my booking, the bungalow with pool view which was at a supplement was eventually awarded to me on 4th day. My holiday was a nightmare,
The pool view apartments are the better option on the complex, although i would expect in high season a little more noisier . no one seems to care what time you swim.
The half board ,. i would stay well clear!! the food was awful, repetitive, and cold most of the time. There was chicken, chicken legs, chicken drumstick, chicken wings , chicken soup , onion rings, calamari rings frozen veg, chips -which were sometimes re-fried, all week, ...The breakfast was ok, but you could cement a wall with the beans. There are plenty of restaurants and places to eat nearby and not expensive.
There are mixed reviews on the maid service, we saw the maid once, we had towels from the first apartment so we had enough towels, but its not cleaning of any standard.
I would not stay here again if you paid me.

Room Tip: pick the pool area bungalows if you have family, nos 80-86 or the ones slightly back from pool, the...

I'm giving a 5 star rating due to the value, cleanliness and helpfulness of the staff. Apartments very equipped for self catering - hob, oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge freezer, inside table, outside table, iron, iron board and hair dryer. The local supermarket is about 5 minutes walk. The Brittish shop opposite the Hiperdino supermarket sells cheaper sun cream. The complex is up a steep hill but a cab to the beach is about €3 and the train that goes every 25 mins is €1. We walked a few times and takes about 15 minutes. Quite exhausting going up the hill in the heat with lots of bags! However, we didn't go to the beach once as the pools were so nice.

The resort is actually halfway up 'Chipmonk mountain' which is actually a hill with no chipmonks! So is about a 20 minute walk down to the main beach and resort in Caleta (and a bit longer coming up). There is the free mini train that can take you up and down if needed or taxi's are very cheap. The apartments are fairly basic but clean with big pools and lots of room. Never any issue get beds etc. We did not use the Cooking facilities and the fridge was not the best. Towels left a bit to be desired but the price is cheap so don't expect luxury. Small supermarket and bunch of bars and restaurants not too far if you don't want to go down to the main town. Overall it was fine and we knew it was cheep and cheeful so no complaints. Windy in parts but enough room to move around the pool if needed.

Room Tip: All seemed similar, depends if you want sun on your patio in the morning or evening. Roads so quiet...

We found the resort to be an ideal base for our holiday. The bungalow had everything needed for our stay, with a kettle, microwave , toaster and two rings for cooking. The maid cleaned regularly and when we needed extra blankets they were brought to us the same day. We were right at the pool which is where we requested. It was in a quiet location but the town and beach were easily reached. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in the resort itself and lots more just a 10 minute walk away. We are returning later this year and would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: Put your request in at time of booking.

2nd stay at these apartments, apartment well equipped and very clean, plenty of clean towels and hot water, small tv with a few english channels and maid called every other day. pool area clean and well maintained and small pool bar, very friendly lady and reasonable prices, even had spanish guitarist at the weekend all adding to make a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

***dont confuse with other "castillo beach....." apartments.

Room Tip: was in room 15, a little noise from town centre but still not enough to worry about.
