“excellent tapas”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

We visited this bar one lunchtime during the 1 - 2 pm happy hour to visit some expats we had met the night before. Drinks were buy one get one free, a good bargain. The tapas was lovely, very fresh and plentiful. We will return on our next visit

“Excellent tapas and happy hour!”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

Great little place where the locals and ex pats frequent. Tapas is top notch and happy hour is the best bargain we came across! We ate here twice during our week in Caleta, once for lunch and once for dinner. Had the tapas both times trying different dishes each time. The ordering system is simple, though I noticed it threw a few people off as it is not table service. You go to the back of the restaurant and order from the board. Our eyes were certainly bigger than our stomachs, but the food was so good, we forced ourselves to devour every last morsel in front of us! Our favourite dishes were the baby calamari, cheese and tomato salad, and smoked fish. Prices are an absolute bargain considering the quality of food they produce. Very highly recommend El Capitain!

“Great food and drink at good prices with only live entertainment”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

Happy Hour (can't remember the exact time) is brilliant as 2 very large red wines are just 3 Euros! Always live entertainment. The flamenco dancing was fantastic. All tapas dishes are superb and a very good price. You can get an absolute feast for about 20 Euros. There are no menus apart from the blackboards inside where you have to order from. Have been several times and it always has a lovely atmosphere.

“Looks can be deceiving!”
Reviewed 24 April 2014

I had looked up a few restaurants on trip advisor before going and as we walked past this, prepared to walk on by, the name caught my eye as having a good review. It looked like a old and dated sea themed pub I didn't feel it had great kerb appeal. However on entering it grew on me. It felt intimate, yet the tables were spaced apart enough for privacy. There is no menu, just go to the front, wait for a server and choose the tapas off the board, or point at the dish through the glass counter. The staff were very helpful in advising how much we needed and advising what might go well together. They served good wine, good quality oil and vinegar and the tapas was fresh and very very tasty. The only thing that let it down for me was the toilets, not in a good state and not clean. However I would still recommend based on the service and the food, just go to the loo before you get there!
