Overall excellent hotel.
We had a superior room in block 3 which is furthest from reception but not too bad a walk really. Modern and clean. Only bad point about the whole holiday is the air con - completely useless and room felt humid. All rooms in block 2 and 3 appear to have great views over pool / sea.
Hotel location is fantastic, expected it to be a very quiet area however there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Recommend a visit to the curry house over the road, Taj's, we had the BEST curry ever here! Not cheap but absolutely worth every penny.
Down the road is also an indoor shopping centre, about a 25 min walk along the beach or a 3 euro taxi trip. Mc donalds and burger king can be found here. Plus a large supermarket, a few shops and a small arcade. If youre going out of the back of the hotel along the beach, head right and this is where you can find the shopping centre and midway is an area of 'wasteland' where there are wild chipmunks who enjoy a few monkey nuts! Head left and you will find a small harbour with boat trips, a sealion, and you can feed the fish here. We paid for a one hour submarine trip which included a sealion show, NOT recommended. You see one type of fish and it is v v v cramped, sealion show is a joke, one sealion behind a metal fence in a very small area which you have to crowd around, it seemed cruel...
Trips - went to oasis park (zoo) and the water park. Both small-ish in comparison to the other parks on the canaries but get you out for a day at fairly reasonable prices. Both 40mins away but include coaches in the price, we booked with last minute travel, shop just down the road from hotel. Oasis park turns out to be a long day so beware.. theres only so much you can do there and there's nothing outside of the park. The water park however is located in Corralejo which is a larger town, again with plenty of shops etc and also has a market on Fridays so again, worth a trip, also stops at the sand dunes on the way which is a lovely sight. Entertainment - fantastic. A lot better standard than we have ever seen in the canaries. Includes popular shows such as grease and lion king and also magicians, abba tributes etc. Worth watching. Great entertainment team. Brilliant set up with getting drinks here, waiter had a small hand held computer, takes your order and someone brings your drink over - great!
Food - well cooked but very repetitive. Food available pretty much all day. Snack bar around pool area serving burgers, pasta etc. In all honesty got really bored of the evening meal but standard of food cannot be complained about. Breakfast buffet was fantastic, real english fry up if thats what you fancy!
Staff were always friendly and very helpful. Pool areas always clean and never a problem getting a sun lounger at any time of the day, be it in the shade or the sun. No worries about having to reserve one early.
Most of the guests at the hotel were english which was great.
Wonderful atmosphere, location and staff. Recommend upgrading to a superior room which is the more modern rooms. Having looked at a couple of the older rooms, the difference in standard is significant. The hotel appear to be making effort to refurbish more rooms and communal areas at present which is about due. It appears most modern rooms are in block 3 from what we saw?
Recommended!! Would return!

Room Tip: Block 3 appeared to us to have most refurbished rooms

Just returned from this Hotel. Shame we only had a week, really impressed with the place food was great lots to choose from if you couldn't find something you liked then I thinks it's you that has the problem. The entertainment team were the best we have come across in any Holiday resort good range of things to do during the day, and some really good shows in the evenings (well done Billy and the team ) . Rooms were spacious the only downside was the air con in our room wasn't very efficient, and in the hottest time of year the room would have been to hot. Didn't complain as the outside temp was reasonable so it wasn't a problem for us. In the process of being decorated on the outside happy to go back there again without any doubt at all.

Perfect Hotel, Staff, Location, reaxing holiday. The hotel is 10mins from the airport, right on a beach perfect for families with young children, the kids club staff are absolutely brilliant, the staff were overall very good and look after you very well. The food is varied enough for the fussy eaters and well cooked, the beach is right outside the hotel, the kids club staff are excellent, Sara and Fracesca really looked after them. the pools are very good and the hotel kept to a really good standard. the best holiday we have been on, as relaxing as you want it to be. entertainment was also very good for a night out to keep all entertained.

Room Tip: We emailed the hotel in advance asking for block 2, and were very happy with the position above one...

Where to start.........I had emailed the hotel before hand requesting a specific room (2210) which had been recommended on a previous review. I was told that they could not promise this room but would try their best and guess what....we got it. Great room overlooking the kids playground, views of the pool and beach. Well worth asking for this room. It was very spacious with 2 big beds plus a camp bed and still had plenty of room to move around in. We arrived late (11pm) on a half board basis and when we got to our room we had a bottle of spakling wine on ice with a couple of trays of mini cakes and was told that if we went to the dining room a cold buffet was being provided for us.
The pool area was lovely and never had problems getting a sun lounger but have to admit I am one of those sad people that get up early to get a bed in the shade...sorry folks but I have red hair and very pale skin...but I was there all day on it once we had breakfast.
It is in a really quiet area but seems enough to do.
The hotel is great in my opinion for people over 55 and families with young children. I went with my 13 year old daughter and unfortunately there were no other children any where near her age, but give her a pool and she doesnt care.
The evening menu does get a little repetitive but there is always plenty there. Breakfast is great with a massive selection.
Staff work very hard but were always pleasant.
Would I go here again??? YES YES YES

Room Tip: room 2210 was big and spacious with very comfy beds. Got the sun for most of the day

When me and my party (5) arrive at this hotel we thought that everything was perfect.

The Hotel overall was very quiet, plenty of sun beds and tables at breakfast / lunch & dinner available. The hotel staff were very good, especially the room cleaners who were always very attentive and helpful. The pool area and all of the hotel gardens were also kept in perfect condition and very clean.

It was my birthday during my stay at the hotel and the hotel & holiday Advisor (Thomson) placed a bottle of Cava in the room, along with a card from each. Which i thought was a brilliant touch.

The all inclusive was extremely good. Food always up to scratch and very consistant. The range of drinks was fantastic, i havent had that good of a range of drinks at 5* hotels that i have been to.

However on the lat day our flight was not due to depart until 21:15 hours, and we had to check out of the room by Midday, which is fair enough as this is standard practice to any hotel that i have been to. The option was there to extent the room, if available, but unfortunately ours wasn't. Preempting this we went to the reception desk the day before to ask if they ha any showers that we could use. We were told to go to the spa and we could shower in there. (No mention that there was a new and an old spa. We went to the New spa to use the showers, and were told in front of a big group of people that it wasn't a 'nice' idea and to go back to the hotel, very embarrassing to say the least.
We then went back to the front desk and were directed back to the 'old' spa. I wouldn't even shower my dog in there. DO NOT go in there without some sort of protective footwear. The floor is slimy and the showers dark and dingy. I felt dirtier for having a shower in there. I then went to reception to tell them the state of the showers, and the 3 receptionists just looked at me blankly, shrugged the shoulders and said 'well tell the cleaners', I dont think a cleaner has been in there for at least a week.

I would have thought that a hotel the size of 'barcelo' would be a little more customer / guest focussed and maybe provide a room that you can book a slot into to have a clean and hot shower before the long 4 hour flight back to the UK.

This hotel was fantastic until the last day, and if it wasn't for that i would definitely have returned, but due to this i dont think i will be returning, unless i get an earlier flight on the last day.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the 3rd block, on the first floor, this faces the quiet pool.

We don't usually stay in big Hotels for our family holidays , we tend to go for Villas or apartments because we like a bit of peace and quiet when needed.

We booked this hotel last July because the tour operator done a mis-price on the internet and we got 1 week 1/2 board for far, far less than it should have been, we knew at the time of booking that it would be different from what we usually do but it would also be the first holiday that we had with our newborn.

The room was everything that everyone else says on here, good size, very, very clean and maintained everyday by the meticulous maids. The air con in our room wasn't great but was good enough to get by. We were in 2235 which did have a slight sea view.

The food was good, it was much better than I expected, breakfast gave you a great choice, we never had lunch, after a fairly poor first night the evening meals got better and better.

The staff from maid to animation team were exceptional, always happy to help and always with a smile.

The evening entertainment was pretty good as well.

Pool area was spotless and the team gave you plenty to do during the day if you wanted.

So far so good, well here is where they could improve in my opinion:

Squeaky furniture syndrome - if you are below someone and they scrape the chair or table or bed or even a piece of straw across the floor the noise was awful, this complain is mainly at other holiday makers rather than the hotel, a bit of courtesy doesn't cost much - but neither do them felt pads that the hotel could fit onto tables and chairs.

The other whinge is at the hotel......on our first day we requested a late checkout of 6pm(as per the hotel bumf @ 24 Euros) as our flight never left until 10.40pm. They told us that it was recorded and to come back at 4.30pm on the day before checkout to confirm, we did just that only to be told that not only could we not have a late checkout on our room but the only help they could offer was a 2pm checkout......in another room. I spoke to several other guests who were in exactly the same boat.......surely the hotel could have advised people before the day prior to checkout to give them a chance to seek alternative arrangements?

Again, just two minor gripes but they are the difference that stop this hotel getting a 5.

Room Tip: Block 3 has the quietest rooms and best views, stay away from block 1 as it overlooks the noisy bars...

Spent 10 days at the Barcelo Fuerteventura earlier this month. Hotel was good quality and kept very clean. Showing signs of wear and tear in some of the corridors, but repairs were going on throughout our stay to replace cracked floor tiles etc.
If you are staying all inclusive do not expect it to be as comprehensive as you would get in Turkey for example. We had to pay a 5 Euro deposit for the key to the room safe and then it cost 3 euros per day, and a 10 euro deposit for each pool towel. You were then charged a further 2 euros per towel to change them for fresh ones. You cannot get bottles of water to take away from the bars, but glasses of water are freely available ( plastic ones from the pool bar of course!) The all inclusive ends at 11 pm each night but sometimes the shows go on later than that so you have to pay for an after show drink. If you are leaving the hotel after midday, the all inclusive ends at 12 noon on your last day and you will have to pay for your lunch and any drinks you want after that.
On the day of our arrival we put our names down for a late check out but still did not get one. We were able to book a 30 minute slot in a courtesy room, which turned out to be a full size disabled access hotel room on the ground floor and meant we could have a shower and change before leaving for the airport.
There is only one bar operating in the evenings, and this is indoors, immediately beside the entertainment theatre so not that good if you want a quiet, romantic drink!
All these little quibbles were more than offset by the quality of the entertainment on offer. The entertainment team, who have just won the award for the best entertainment team in barcelo hotels worldwide for the second year running, were amazing. In the 10 days we were there we were treated to their excellent versions of Les Miserables, The Lion King, Grease and We Will Rock You, plus a fantastic Black Out show that had to be seen to be believed. Other nights outside entertainers included an Abba tribute, a Jackson Five tribute, Flamenco dancing to electric guitar, viola and cello and an acrobatic act. Before the main show started there were often short extra things such as a Falconry display (inside the theatre!), parrot show and snake display.
The bar staff also need a mention as while you are watching the shows one member is constantly going up and down the rows of seats taking your drink orders on an electronic gizmo and very shortly after another member of the staff delivers your drinks to your table so you don't have to miss anything!
There were always beds available at the pools, but those with any shade were gone very early in spite of the signs saying you could not reserve them. If you are not in any shade it is really easy to get burned as the constant breeze can make you think you are OK when you are not. Would think it gets a lot more difficult to get a decent location in high season. The beach looked OK, but the sunbeds there had to be paid for 9 euros for two beds and a parasol.
Food was good and varied - watch out for the mussels and king prawns if you like seafood. Service in the restaurant was fine, we never had to wait for a table and our drinks orders were always taken really quickly. Be aware men are refused entry for dinner if not wearing long trousers - cut offs do not count!!
Access to the promenade around the bay is through security gates that you unlock with your room key, and you can have a good walk in either direction. If you go left and continue past the marina look out for the chipmunks that live among the rocks.
We would happily recommend this hotel for families and couples, and will probably go back ourselves one day.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor overlooking the pool in Block 3 and you will get a great pool and sea view
