“Outstanding holiday, can't wait to return”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

We took our family to the Barcelo Fuerteventura Thalasso Spa during June 2012 for an all-inclusive ‘familymoon’ after our wedding. Our party consisted of three adults and two children, 7 years old and 6 months, in two standard rooms, one in block 2 with a sea view, and the other in block 1.
After a 15 minute transfer to the hotel, check in was quick and efficient. We went straight through to the dining area for lunch. We found cava on ice and chocolates in our room, which was a lovely surprise. Food choice and quality were excellent. We ate most of our meals out on the veranda; we particularly enjoyed drinking coffee at our leisure each morning overlooking the pools and gardens. The restaurant staff were all very friendly and courteous and great with the children.
The entertainment team did an outstanding job, and put on a great show including ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Les Miserables’ and some of the children holidaying at the hotel formed part of the cast.
We had a wonderful stay and look forward to returning in the future.

We stayed here at the end of May. We were there for our honeymoon with our 2 kids aged 4 and 6. Like everyone, I checked trip advisor for reviews as wanted it to be special for out honeymoon.
Here are my thoughts on our experience.
As it was our honeymoon they upgraded our room to block 3 and gave us a free bottle of bubbly in our room on arrival.
Some points that various reviews complained about were,

Wifi not free- do you really need wifi on holiday? If you do then you will have to pay or go th the pub next door and get it for free

Safe not free - I haven't been to anywhere where the safe was free. We just used our suitcases to store away any money or valuables and locked them with padlocks

Entertainment - the entertainment is excellent. These guys put on great shows although miming it doesn't take away the great production. We saw the lion king and we will rock you and the kids loved it. Also the animation team are excellent with the kids during the day, at the kids clubs and at night with the kids disco.

Sunbeds - there a loads of sun beds however if you looking for a particular spot, you may have to get down early as everyone puts there towels out (and being honest, we all do it)

We were all inclusive and had no problems with the food. There's lots of different dishes every night and I'd be surprised if u didn't find anything you liked. This is coming from having 2 fussy kids who managed to eat every night. The pool snack bar is also good. It has self service drinks area (with a normal bar next door) and also a mini kitchen with snacks, salads, burgers, chips, pizza, hotdogs, toasted sandwiches, fish, bread.

The pools are massive and have 1 designated kids pool where we sat with our kids

The bar at night can get busy but the bar staff know their stuff and will get to you ASAP. If your all inclusive then you can order as many drinks at once which I liked as didn't have to keep going up to the bar. They also have table service at show area which is great
We had no probs checking in and the hotel is spotless clean and tidy. There are a few works around the pool area but should cause any disruption to your holiday.
There's a 18 hole golf course, football pitch and tennis courts which you can use.
Apart from the beach directly across the road, there's not a lot else to do if your looking for a lazy relaxing holiday you'll get it here
Overall we had an excellent time here and will definitely return

We had done our homework and read lots of reviews, and the hotel was as we expected, and we were generally very happy with it.

But when calculating the price you're going to pay, make sure to factor in the hidden costs of parking, room safe, wi-fi, mineral water with lunch/dinner (if on half or full board), and charge to change pool towels.

The shows are a roughly 50/50 mix of two formats:

a) Musicals (The Lion King, Grease, etc.), with the animation team miming (lip-syncing) to the soundtrack from the movie or stage show.

b) Chinese Acrobats show, Flamenco show, other dance shows, etc.

I preferred the second type, as the first type are a bit "fake", though enthusiastically performed.

The buffet food was of a good standard, with a fair degree of variation, but the buffet format itself can get repetitive, especially if you are on full board or All Inclusive, or staying for longer than a week or so. We were on half board, so had lunch out, and only stayed 6 days, so it didn't get too repetitive for us. (By the way, El Capitan, just across the road from the hotel entrance, does very good tapas)

Our room was fine, and we slept well, never disturbed by any noise (we were on the top floor in block 2). If you're out on the balcony in the late evening you can hear the noise from the shows, but once you close the balcony sliding door, you can't hear a thing. Might be better though to keep the balcony door closed as much as possible to keep the mosquitos out - we did get a few bites while we slept!

Note: The notice board for the "Animation" programme is a bit hard to spot, it's near the main restaurant, but around the corner, so easy to miss.

The resort itself doesn't have much character, and has quite a few tacky looking shops & restaurants, but on the upside is just 10 minutes from the airport (and it's fun to watch the planes coming in to land!)

We have had the most wonderful holiday in this fantastic resort. Despite some of the reviews on here, some of which were very helpful, ie. block 3 was definitely the quietest block and was perfect for us, the comments about the food being repetitive we found ludicrous. whilst some foods were repeated, there was so much choice, that you could have a different meal every night, which is exactly what we did, and the same at lunchtime and breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble for this hotel, and if you have any queries, ring them before you stay to clarify, like we did, best thing we could have done. My sons 12th Birthday was whilst we were there, and they made a fantastic cake for him with candles and the restaurant staff brought it out singing to him, it was wonderful, and made his day all that much more special. The only downside is the sunbeds, despite signs not to reserve, 90% of people did, which was very frustrating, it was tempting to remove them and throw them in the pool ;-) but that is our only gripe during our whole 10 days. You will have an amazing time here at this hotel....enjoy!!!

Recently stayed here for a week and can highly recommend it. Room was a good size with a large comfy bed. The whole complex was spotless. Food was plentiful with a good choice and variation. Staff were very attentive, polite and friendly. The location is fantastic, just a short transfer from the airport and next to the beach. Would definitely return to this hotel if I went back to Fuerteventura.

Just returned from 10 days with my wife and 2 girls aged 8 and 9. We had a great time. The pool area catered for all ages and was very clean and the life guard on duty was approachable and had a sense of humour. The best thing about the hotel was the tireless entertainment staff who were fantastic. They were friendly, always smiling, involved every child in the games and had great camaraderie with all ages and nationality. Roman was the pick of the whole bunch with his Cockney Dutch accent. The evening entertainment was gear when done by the hotel staff but was pretty average on the other nights. My 2 girls were involved in the Grease production where they were dressed as Rydale high cheerleaders. They were made to feel part of their team and were well looked after. I can't thank the staff enough for making our girls holiday.
Would I recommend the hotel. Defiantly the whole experience was great !!!

Room Tip: Sea view a must
