Travelled as a couple in Mid June 2014; upon arrival at the airport we found our coach (Travelled with Thomson), with the hotel being a 15 minuet drive from the airport we couldn't ask for better. Upon arrival at the hotel it was very modern and looked lovely the inside was just the same, reception staff were friendly and helpful. We had a superior room which I would suggest we were given free wi-fi which costs a small fortune without the free code however a 30 minuet free pass is allowed per day per device in the lobby; we could also visit the spa for free whenever we liked (excluding treatments). The view from our room was lovely, we looked over both the pool and beach which was quite quiet, the food wasn't as good as i thought it would be, however breakfasts were lovely. We stayed half board and were allowed to swap our dinner for lunch if we let the reception know the day before, before 8pm, we did this on several days as we found a lovely cafe which served everything from english to canaries dishes, Cafe Margarita; both who run it are very lovely and welcoming! Our room was very large with a very comfy bed and large bathroom area. We decided to do quite a lot of day trips starting with the Marina Markets, where you travel by bus and then boat to Lanzarote, found this quite boring as the markets were not that great, the food served on board (included in price) also was pretty poor for what you pay. We next went to the Oasis park, there is a free bus every morning at 08:55 from the hotel doors, the park was amazing we also booked the camel safari which was amazing (book online as it is cheaper). Next we went in the adult only catamaran cruise, where you sail over to the only white sand beaches at Lanzarote, there you can snorkel with equipment provided and take a jet ski ride; lunch and all drinks are included (GREAT DAY). Finally we went to the water park which we didn't feel was that great but it is the only one on the island. We also hired a car for the day and went down to Jandia, the beach was beautiful and the water was crystal clear defiantly worth visiting as the island isn't too big it only took around 45 minuets to get there! The reps are very helpful and it is worth attending the welcome meeting if you travel with either Thomson or first choice. Overall a great holiday and will return.

The hotel really is nice, and everyone I spoke to said that they thought the hotel was fantastic. I seem to be in the minority but feel I have had better holidays for much less money. My main issue was that we paid for a superior room, only to find we had a standard room with free wifi which we didn't want and free use of the spa which we couldn't use as children weren't allowed. We still had to pay 3 euros a day to use the safe which in my mind is unacceptable when we had already paid £36 per day for the upgrade. Other people have commented that there were no coffee making facilities. After speaking to others it looks like you get them if you have children, but not if you don't?? Whine over, other than this the place is lovely and they were doing work to improve it all the time we were there, there are plenty of sunbeds but a shortage of umbrellas. However they were building a large covered area while we were there, so that shouldn't be a problem now. Be aware that the pool is saltwater, although that made no difference to us, however we went in the middle of June and the pool was freezing, so much so my little boy wouldn't go in it at all! The food is exactly the same as any all inclusive although my husband was disappointed to find that he couldn't have iced coffee without paying extra?? The playground and kids club look really good, but I think kids can only use the kids club from age 4, the littler ones can use the playground, but only when the animation team is about, which they aren't quite often as they take the kids club onto the beach most days. The entertainment at night also looked brilliant, the animation team work so hard. The location is good, there is a market on sat & tues and plenty of walks along the prom. We had one other problem, we had late flights and asked Thomson when we booked whether we could have a late checkout. We were told we could and to book it when we got there. However we could only have it till 2.00 ( we were still charged 18 euro for the extra 2 hours!) this meant that my little boy couldn't have an afternoon nap and because of this was a complete horror on the return flight because he had got over tired!

Just returned from a week at the Thalasso which is ideally situated beside the beach and small resort. The hotel is large and caters for a lot of guests so be prepared for busy meal times in the restaurant , we chose to eat early in the evening and sat in the much quieter outside area of the restaurant. If you are al incl food and drink is served through the day from a self serve area in the cafe by the pool , this is a good idea for those guests who do not wish to use the main restaurant through the day. Be aware that the hotel has strict rules about gents wearing long trousers in the restaurant at dinner, we saw one male guest being refused entry to the restaurant in 3/4 length crops and gents must also wear t shirts with sleeves at lunch time. A notice outside the restaurant advises on this. In our opinion the food was average, nothing to complain about but very repetitive , lots of pork, we usually do al incl in Turkey where the larger hotels offer the choice of Al a Carte restaurants to provide more options. We understand the Thalasso is shortly to open an Al a carte restaurant but by appearances this will not cater for many guests at a time. We liked that the hotel seemed to be making improvements, ie, new tiles around pool area, room upgrades, out side setting areas etc . The pool areas are good , one pool where all the activities happen, a kiddies pool and a quieter pool for those of us just wanting to relax. There are plenty of sun beds and although the hotel request guest not to reserve beds they still do! As for the rooms we were very fortunate to be given an upgrade to a deluxe suite, we had only booked a standard room because we had no intention of using the spa facilities and half an hour free internet daily was enough for us to check our emails . We requested a quiet room on a high floor and were allocated 2401 a great room which consisted of a large bedroom with a huge double bed , a huge bathroom and shower area , a separate lounge with dining and lounge furniture, a TV with English channels a large balcony area with good furniture . The view was'nt great overlooking the reception roof but we could see the distant mountains, the great room made up for not having a sea view. The staff in the hotel were friendly and attentive the animation team work non stop an provide some of the entertainment on an evening with enthusiasm . We would return to this hotel and class it as a good 4** The resort of Caleta de Fueste is very nice, not to big but very clean and smart looking with shops, bars and eating places. There may not be much if you are young and want to go clubbing .
The beach just outside the hotel is man made and a bit corse on the feet but when the tide is in the sea is lovely and not too rocky . The beaches further along the promenade are softer and pretty . We would definitely return to this resort and hotel but be aware Fuerteventura is generally a windy place, we didn't find this a problem but some people whinged about it.
On the whole we would recommend this hotel and this resort.

The waiting bar staff were the best we'd encountered but people staying should acknowledge them as people and not just servers, they were so helpful with everything. Only downside in our opinion was couldnt have a late checkout and the facilities we could use were very substandard would actually put us off re-booking made the last day very long and hot as they was nowhere to store your belongings safely while showering! Food was good and rooms were lovely.

My partner have just returned from a weeks stay at the barcelo fuertuventura. Overall we were very impressed with the holiday and feel we got great value for money.

Arrival and room - Transfer from the airport to the hotel was very swift and we were checked in within minutes of arriving. Friendly reception staff and lovely large airy lobby. We had a superior room in block 3 on the ground floor a short walk from the pool and gate to the beach so felt this was an excellent location. Very impressed with standard of room especially the inclusion of fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. Great outside terrace, and bed very comfortable and huge! Loved extra touch of dressing gowns and slippers. Only niggle was the sound proofing - we were kept awake until early hours most nights from noise of other residents both above and next to us. If you aren't party goers like us then pack some earplugs!

Pool - reserving of sunbeds was common however as long as we were at the pool by 11 there were plenty of beds available. The child's pool was very busy and quite chaotic so we tended to stay at the more adult orientated pool. All pools freezing cold but much appreciated in the beautifully hot weather we had. Surrounding area of pool was maintained to a very high standard - lovely gardens and very clean.

Spa - we had free access to the thalasso spa due to having a superior room and we spent a lot of time there. If you don't have children and want ultimate relaxation and peace and quiet by the pool then head to the spa! They give you free towels and the changing facilities come in very handy after checkout on last day when you have a late flight! Also a fab gym with all latest equipment.

Food - we agreed with previous reviews that the indoor restaurant was quite noisy and canteen like but feel this is due to the size of the hotel and can't really be helped. We chose to sit outside for dinner which was far more relaxing. We were on half board basis and found the quality and variety of food to be excellent. Staff in restaurant very friendly and were served promptly. For lunch we either bought fresh baguettes and meats from the local supermarket which is very well stocked and reasonably priced, or visited a local cafe - the beach front cafe at the next door barcelo was a great lunchtime stop with sandwiches pizzas ice cream etc.

Local area - not much going on in the resort but this was perfect for us as it meant it wasn't too busy. Few nice shops to wander around and some lovely beaches to take a walk along.

Other - we aren't beach people so can't comment much but it looked beautiful and had a quick paddle - lovely clear blue waters. Yes it's a little stoney but keep your flip flops on! Great little beach hut serving ice creams cheaper than at hotel. We played crazy golf twice which was good fun - 5 euros per person. Can't comment on evening entertainment as we didn't go to any shows - just not us. The entertainment team in the day do go round the pool advertising the days activities but are not pushy at all.

Pros - spa, food, standard of room, location.

Cons - the noise at night.

We would most definitely return to this hotel but not sure it would be in high season as we feel it was busy enough in June.
