“great 4* hotel”
Reviewed 10 August 2009

Just returned from this hotel with my husband and 2 children age 8 and 5. We were more than happy with our holiday at barcelo. Rooms excellent, resturant staff very polite and extremely good with the children, cant comment on kids club as our kids were happy in pool and at park. The food was very nice with an excellent selection, although for some reason the choice was greater the first week. Someone told us that they cater mainly for the Spanish in August but there was still plenty of choice and for a 4* hotel I would say the food quality was very good.

Air conditioning is not the best, but it is ok.

All in all loved this holiday and the resort is fine although quite small. If you have booked this with a family holiday in mind i am sure you will love it. We did hear some people moaning but to be honest we thought their complaints were not really justified.

Oh and if you get the chance the spa is fabulous, they had special offers on when we were ther making it very affordable, so worth enquiring.

We have just returned from the Barcelo Hotel and loved every minute of it!
The rooms were very clean and the food was great, plenty of choice and something for everyone.
The staff were more than friendly and happy to help, And the entertainment was absolutely fantastic!
Theres always different activities and things going on through out the day for all ages.
I would say that this hotel is more like a 5* than a 4*.
There is also a mini golf course on site with an hard side and a easy side for the children, but you do have to pay for it, if your all inclusive you get it half the price which isnt too bad.
The beach was very close but we didnt go as we were happy round the pool, Also while we stayed there, there was a beach party through the night with live bands etc.
The pool area is exceptionally large with it having 3 pools and plenty of sunbeds, the only downside is your not allowed any inflatables in the pools apart from the childrens!
The rooms were nicely decorated and very spacious, we requested a sea view when we booked our holiday and we got one it was lovely, The room had air conditioning, TV (but not many channels were available), Hair Dryer, Also when we got there the room had Barcelo Shampoos and Shower Gels, Combs, Sowing Kit and a Shower cap to use. The room had a mini-bar which had 2 bottles of water in, you get a list on the side with things you can order to put in it but we found it cheaper to go to the local supermarket and buy a few beers.
There is like a shopping area just around the corner from the hotel which is less than 5 minutes walk, theres a variaty of shops selling plenty of souvenirs and gifts and also restaurants and cafes.

Overall we had a fantastic holiday and have recommended it to friends and family. Hopefully returning in October! :-))

We stayed at 6 hotels during our lovely trip to Fuerteventura. Out of all of them, this one was the most expensive, but don't know why.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing really wrong with the hotel. It is situated close to the town centre and behind is a nice beach to the right and left. The rooms were o.k., albeit 2 single beds made a double. Lots of British people were staying there, unlike the hotels in Jandia, where most were German.

The food was o.k., but not up to, say, the Iberosrar Gaviotas in Jandia, we also stayed at for choice / quality. Shows were good - someone even came round to take your drink orders during them, which was a great idea ! Wife said she preferred the drinks here to the other hotels for some reason.

The grounds / pool were again alright, but did not provide the 'wow' factor we expected.

We much preferred the cheaper Elba Sara, just down the road and wished we had stayed there another night instaed of this hotel.

You won't be disappointed if you go at this hotel as its o.k., but having been to several different hotels during our stay, I know that there are better ones out there for less money.

I was going to write a long review of our recent stay, because I was so impressed. But to save me time the review from SmileU2 below says practically all I was going to say.
The reception was a bit slow mainly because all persons staing have to fill in their own registration form. We stayed (self, wife, son (16)) on half board basis, for 18 euros EACH a day you can upgrade to all inclusive, we did not do this as lunch in the hotel bar was only 20 euro's, and we were not going to drink 34 euros of coke/beer etc. But the option is there. We stayed in block 3 in an outer edge room and it was excellent. The rooms are accessed to by airy corriders, the hotel has been designed to make use of the constant breeze. A car is a good idea, 2 days and you can do the whole of the island. Do drive the road to Betancuria and visit the Muse for a glorious view. All in all I thorougly enjoyed my stay here and if I am honest could have done with another week. If you want to see some of my photos/videos send me a request with BARCELO in the subject line to kingeuromanAThotmailDOTcom replacing the AT and DOT of course. The hotel let us use a courtesy room on our last day for free. If you remember that you are in a foreign country, and they do things differently, you cannot go wrong. The food was excellent as well. Thanks Barcelo.

We have just retured from a lovely relaxing week at this hotel. The room in block 2 was spacious and cleaned every day and had a great view of the pool and sea.The food was presented well and every night there was plenty of variety, even my teenage girl who is a really picky eater found it great.
We didnt want to come home there was activities if you wanted to join in or you could just chill out by the pool. There isnt much to do outside the hotel just a few bars and shops to look round but if you are all inclusive you dont really need to leave the hotel. We went for a nice walk along by the harbour. If you have booked to go to this hotel this summer its well worth it , this is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in

just come back from a 10 day stay all inclusive. Room was fine clean big enough for 4 my 2 children did have to share a bed though! The all inclusive does work well although you do have to wait a while sometimes on a night to get a drink, but we did learn if you tip the waiter a couple of euros then they were more attentive. The pools were great inflatables only allowed on toddler pool. You do unfortunately have to bag a lounger early especially by toddler pool, we found by 10am there were none left. Didnt have any complaints food was good, kids loved the chocolate fountain, there was a good variety of food something for all of us. We opted for the pool bar for lunch they had a nice selection or if you fancied you could get take away. The entertainment was excellent lion king is a must but be early if you want to sit.

We have just returned back from this hotel and it was great!!!
Family of four 2 adults & 2 Kids aged 7 and 10 years

We arrived at the hotel about 8 pm, we got a taxi from the airport rather than waiting for the Thomson coach to leave the airport. Taxi only 12 euros. well worth it!! We also got one on the way back too.

We checked in and then went to our room 2303 which was perfect.
Clean spacious air conditioned room with a very comfortable massive king bed and double pull out sofa bed for the kids, TV with satellite, mini fridge, bathroom with bath, shower and toilet with door to close and massive sink area with hairdryer. No steamy mirrors to do my hair this year!! In room safe in the wardrobe area which cost 2 euros a day. well worth it!!
Great views from the room of the beach, sea, pool area & kids playground, very central location next to the main building and handy for everything. Rooms are very quiet, no noise experienced just a little and we slept very well. After 11pm no noise at all in hotel.

The pool area and grounds are very well maintained and very clean. The pool area was brilliant 2 very large pools and a baby splash pool with water fountain, one of the main pools is solar heated and the other is a salt pool, which is cooler, there are plenty of loungers all around but if you want one with an umbrella you have to get up about 7.30 - 8pm. We never rushed down we would usually go down about 8.30 - 9am and always got a bed in the sun. Pool towels for hire 10 euros per person refundable deposit. Very secure complex gated and fenced all the way around, guests need their room key to get back into the complex.

Hotel is right on the beach front with a little promenade which is great for a little walk, it is a wide sandy beach with a few shingle areas, can see fish swimming in the sea. Sea is very clear. We did spend some time on our beach.
The kids enjoyed feeding the fish, around the bay you can stop by the floating shop and buy fish food for 1 euro and feed lots of big fish, the kids really enjoyed that, also you can feed the chipmunks which are located past the harbour round by the rocky shoreline and when the tides gone out you can also see crabs and fish in the rock pools.

We hired a car for a week which i would definitely recommend if you go for 2 weeks. We saw lots of beaches, the best by far is between the riu tres islas and riu Olivia beach on the sand dunes on the outskirts of corralejo. The sea and beach is like the Caribbean.
Caleta is definitely the best resort for families, small resort but plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, we ate in the indian delhi darbar a few nights in Caleta. We didn't like Corralejo itself it is like Blackpool ( too busy didn't like it at all). Jandia was OK but again a very built up resort a bit more upmarket, none of the hotels are directly on the beach though, you have to walk over a busy road and a very long promenade before you get to the sea front. Took us ages to reach the seafront in very hot weather. Didn't like this at all. Costa Calma seemed like a nice resort very German though.

The food was generally good and very fresh, we upgraded from HB to All Inc 18 euros p adult & 9 euros p child, we did this on arrival which was definitely worth doing about £650. Drinks alone are very expensive in the hotel and out in some places. so it is well worth doing.
Breakfast was 7am - 10am By far the best meal of the day. Lots of choice, English breakfast, English bacon & sausage, omelettes, fried, scrambled or boiled eggs, pancakes, cereal, fruit toast, breads, cakes & pastries and much more ..........
Lunch was buffet 1-3 pm in the main restaurant . always something for everyone, pizza, pasta, fish, meat, soups, salads, stews etc.
Lunch pool side snack bar for food until 5pm before 1pm and after 3pm free for all inc, burger, hot dog, lasagna, pizza, spag bol, club sandwich...between 1 - 3pm all inc have to pay for food...
Pool snack bar for drinks open 10 am until 11 pm- all inc guests is self service, soft drinks, water, beer, rolls and pastries and walls ice cream tubs yum yum!!!!
Dinner 7pm - 10pm in the main restaurant. The food is very similar to lunch but slightly more choice, they have a couple of themed nights and my girls loved the chocolate fountain which was out a few nights while we were there !!!! After a week we were getting fed up with the same thing over and over very repetitive, there are lots of choice and it was OK but it did get very tiresome towards the end of our holiday so we ate out a couple of times.

The staff on reception, in the restaurant and bar are generally very helpful and friendly.
We didn't experience any rude staff while we were there after reading some reviews on here we didn't know what to expect. They all work very hard and sometimes get treated badly and don't deserve it. The reception staff let us have our room as a late check out the day we left as we had a later flight . You have to go to reception and sort it out while you are there. They tell you to come back the day before you leave and they sort it out for you. It depends how full they are.You pay 24 euros until 5pm.

The entertainment team are brill, again they work very hard, they are not pushy at all, if you want to do activities you can, if not they leave you alone. There are lots of things you can do if you are active and don't like sunbathing. Adults, Teens and kids.
Billy is the Head Entertainment rep,
My daughter loved him, he was great with the kids, the shows they put on at night are fantastic and a lot of work has gone into them, Lion King, Starlight express, Broadway show and Grease. The evening entertainment is set out with the stage in front of an air conditioned theatre style auditorium with rows of chairs inside the main building which was an excellent idea.
Kids club reps are excellent too.
Mini club is 4 - 12 year olds. 10.30 - 13.00 & 1500 - 1700. Maxi club is 13- 17 year olds. Not sure on times for maxi club but i know they are open until11pm. They have a mini disco which starts at 8.30 pm every night. You sign the kids in and out of the mini club, which is very safe and secure, there is a playground and fence surrounding the mini club area . My girls only used the mini club on the last day to play mini golf and enjoyed it very much. They spent most of their day in the masiive pool. We saw the mini club down at the beach one day making sandcastles. The mini golf area is situated on the hotel site. I also participated in Aqua Aerobics a few times which is fun too!!!

There is a gym but we didn't experience using it and we didn't experience the spa either but we had a look at the spa and it looked very nice. Adults only. 2 hours free use arranged at reception..

All in all we had a perfect relaxing family holiday and would definitely recommend this hotel and would defiantely return back. Thumbs up Barcelo!!
