didnt mind the hotel at first as its just somewhere to sleep, eat and wash , but when these get taken away then its a joke. first the sleep, the beds where comfy and looked like new mattresses, but the noise in the room from one side and above was screeching furniture, banging and footsteps running up and down so we never got much sleep. Eating , we where self cater and didnt have a kettle or toaster but you could rent for 8 euro and 10 euro deposit thats 36 euro to borrow a kettle and toaster, the fridge had no bar on the shelf to stop the milk from falling from the inside of the door and if you lied the milk down and went back to the fridge the milk had leeked all inside the fridge, we changed the fresh carton milk to the bottled long life milk both had screw tops and both leeked a few days later you could smell the milk that had been spilt so i had to give the fridge and the floor a clean, did tell reception about this and she made a note of it but nothing happend about it there was no fridge light either but i never complained about that, couldnt cook in microwave as there was no dish to cook in. so i had to use the little frying pan and little pan and 2 rings to cook on, now to having a wash, water was fine and decent pressure for how hot and cold you wanted it, however one day we went to the beach we got the free bus witch is great and only 5 minutes just a pity it didnt stop at the town by the other beach. anyway we stayed at the beach and got back about 6pm and was eager for a shower to get the sand and sea off me and then go for something to eat, got undressed and started to brush my teeth and put the shower on only to find that there was no water, i waited ahalf hour then got dressed and went to reception and to be told that someone is fixing it, well 12pm came and there where dribbles of cold water so i got undressed and had a very cold slow shower, the wife would not get one and she got one at about 10am good job i got one after her because they turned it off again and again the day after. we were in the apartments behind the tennis courts but all those around the pool or in the main reception had no loss of water they also had the flat screen tvs and the pool, there is not enough sunbeds and i think those around the pool got the beds, when we where leaving we had to be out off the room by 12 oclock and they wouldnt let us keep the room as we had a late flight. we had to shower in the gym and there was no towels provided so we had to keep the towels from the room for the shower, i will never come here again or Fuerteventura that was my 4th time in Fuerteventura and it was our last.

Dear Robert R,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with others travellers on Tripadvisor.

We are sorry that you couldn't sleep well because of the noise. We have a person during the night that advice all the rooms that are making noise to stop doing it as a matter of respect to other guests.

The apartments are equiped with standard equipment as glasses, pots&pans, cutlery, dishes, etc... I am sorry that a toaster and a kettle are not equipment we place on the apartments. That's why we give the option to rent it.

I am sorry about the issue with the water, we had a problem with a water line and fix it as quick as possible, we effort to suply water to the lines in 24 hours.

Hope you change your mind and visit Fuerteventura again, Hoteles Elba can fulfill your expectations with the range of hotels we have in our chain.

Best Regards,

I like many others thought I was staying at the San Jorge when booked through teletext, oh I wish!
On arrival the reception staff were okay but were much more polite to the German nationalities at the side of me!
Our room was based behind the tennis courts and the door and apartment itself could have done with a makeover, the kitchen was not fully equipped, we were however All Inclusive.
The sofa bed was broken, and the one chair and table looked lost in the large living room.
There was a lovely balcony, however only two plastic chairs.
The lift up to our room broke down on several occasions but this was fixed on reporting.
The TV in our room was inadequate and I have seen better in our recycling skips, no remote and no English channel , on reporting to reception I was told the Satellite had lost its course!
I never actually lied on a sunbed as there were towels placed on every one by the time I had eaten breakfast despite there being a sign they were not be placed on the beds, what was so annoying that the people who had placed the towels never sat on the beds until after 4pm when the sun was over there and they had been out for the day.
The pool bar - I asked for food on only 2 occasions to be told there were no chips and no burgers left - i never asked again.
Staff were ok at the pool, bar and reception if they bothered to actually look at you when you were talking to them.
The most helpful and hard working of staff were in the restaurant - the food was suitable for most diets and always looked fresh - but more variety would have been good.
We looked forward to an evening in the bar however as there is a shuttle game based there, after listening to continuous back and for, screaming kids running around the bar and playing with the lift we left. There should be a separate games room for children.
There is nothing to do unless you go to the main town - if you are a couple looking for a relaxing holiday with entertainment go into the town - there is no beach at the Castillo de Elba and you cant get a sunbed - there is no entertainment and none within walking distance.
On the positive side, the beds are extremely comfortable!
I would not revisit this hotel and I have only given 3 stars due to the hardworking restaurant staff and the cleanliness in general

Dear Janet L,

Thank you for taking your time to share your experience during your stay at Suite Hotel Castillo de Elba.

We do not have special treatment depending in our guests nationalities, it would be unfair and not very professional comming from us.

I am sorry that you didn't share the same opinion that others guests have about our staff, they work hard and they give they best day by day to our guests in house.
I am glad that you find the beds extremely comfortable, all the matresses has been changed in the month of july.

Hope you give us a second chance,

After initial confusion (NOT HOTELS FAULT) It was On the Beach's fault we arrived at the Aparthotel Castillo De Elba we had originally got a taxi the the San Jorge (sister Hotel) which we thought we had booked. Then had to get a taxi to Castillo Elba. I felt stupid but when hearing 95% of guests presumed they were booked in the San Jorge. I did not feel so stupid. I will be taking this up with On the Beach as they are advertising the San Jorge taking your booking then putting you in a different hotel. Don't get confused Castillo Elba is approx 1 mile from Caleta and there is not much around the hotel.

However, here goes, the hotel itself is slightly dated and in need of modernising, they are refurbishing bedrooms which is a good start. We were offered the chance to move to a newly refurbished one as ours lacked a decent bed for children. We just asked if we could have a new bed and one arrived promptly. So no need to move. plenty hot water and spacious accommodation.

The pool area is very nice and the pool bar is excellent,

They have a fantastic sports facility two badminton courts, tennis courts, squash courts, gym, basketball/football courts, which are hardly ever used as no entertainment programme

This leads me onto entertainment, we booked the hotel for entertainment (thinking we had booked the San Jorge) but Castillo Elba does not have a kids club or kids entertainment, This could be something to look at as all was needed was a couple of hours in the afternoon some water polo / football or pool activities just to give the kids something to get involved in. Also evening entertainment was only on a Friday night, a lovely singer/ saxplayer this was nice but could have done with something on at least 3/4 nights a week.

Buffet breakfast was good could have done with some fruit platters, Dinner buffet was okay more choices would have been good but did not have the room for this.

There is a free bus into Caleta and it only costs 4 euro's in a taxi on average.

On arriving I did not really want to stay as surroundings not great, no entertainment, no kids club, We decided to give it a chance and ended up having a really great time reasons being the staff are fantastic all work very hard and always have a smile on their face, they are all so helpful, Kids are kids they met friends and made their own entertainment, On an evening you ended up chatting, playing cards with everyone as everyone in the same boat.

Would probably go back as such a friendly place and once all the rooms have been refurbished and improvements made (also If they start using the huge cabaret room with stage lighting and indoor built in BBQ's ) that's hidden away as its being used for storage whilst refurbishing and full of new beds at the moment this place could be a little gem.

Ps you need some more sunbeds around the pool.

Thanks for a great holiday

We took our 6 year old grandaughter ,thinking they had childrens entertainment, nothing for children to do or adults, very disappointing. We whent all inclusive, wish we hadn't .no kettle in room, you have to rent it from the shop,no remote for telly you have to rent it all programes in Spanish & the telly dates back to 1970s so small. Rooms were a good size & clean. Glad we were only there for a week! Pool was freezing needs to be heated, every time I put my big toe in it I got cramp! Shuttle bus ok if you can get on it, was packed had to wait another hour for next bus, if it wasn't for the staff I think the hotel would close down.Paid for wifi but did not work. Would not go back

We enjoyed a nice week here but were very surprised at how empty the area was and how there was absolutely nothing to do! It looked like the sort of place which would be great in 5 years time but there were hotels being built and simply nothing of walking distance apart from pubs. We were under the impression that the hotel would provide entertainment each night but we found out this was only on a Friday so for families with children, the only thing to do in the evening is go to the bar or go to bed! We went all inclusive which we felt we got our money's worth simply out of alcohol but the food was nothing to get excited over. We found there were very odd combinations of food with the majority being carbs (pasta, pizza, bread, very stodgy). We were craving fresh fruit and veg by the end of the week. We were lucky getting a pool side hotel room and the pool area was lovely. Pool bar serving all drinks and bar snacks (again though, stodge and no variety.. every day it was chips, ham and cheese toastie, or cheeseburger). The biggest praise point from us was the staff. Extremely friendly, will do anything for you and really made the place what it was. In particular for us Fifa and Easaw were incredible. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant stay. For a week in the sun to do nothing other than blob out by the pool, great if you can put up with the food. If you want things to do.... I'd reconsider.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms with doors onto the pool area.... easier to get deck chairs in the morning.

Dear mandabiggs,

Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion about your stay at the hotel with other travellers.

The neighborhood of Costa de Antigua is improving day after day in orther to give the best image to all of our visitors, the neighborhood association is working hard in order to achieve that goal.

The hotel has live music once a week and apart from that we have multiple sport facilities where people can spend a good time.

We are sorry that you didn't enjoy our themed dinners, including home made spanish tortillas, fresh fruits assortment, canarian products or our famous chocolate fountain at saturdays night. We are sorry too that you feel that there is only carbs on the buffet, we serve vegetables, meats, fishes, soups, salads, etc...

It is nice to hear that you enjoy the pool area. Thank you for your words about the staff, I will let them know.

Not worth the money really. The room was tidy and clean, No kettle, fan, toaster or remote control..one knife in the draw and no bowls, which for self catering is poor. You have to hire out all you need. Luckily the apartment was cool so no fan was needed. The pool was lovely. If you get on the free bus you need to get off at the shopping centre walk through and walk up to town as it does not drop you off there. 7 euros for wifi a day...although we were self catering there is a option to buy drinks around the pool and food..big hassle and not worth the money..We made friends and they were all inclusive and said the food was terrible. Many people thought they were at the sister hotel on the front so please make sure you are going to the right one !!!!! All in all I wouldn't go back and would not recommend it to anybody.

Room Tip: Second floor is better but all look onto the pool

Dear pugheee,

Thank your for taking your time to share your experience in our hotel with other travellers.

We are sorry that you think the hotel is not worth the money you paid. We effort daily to give the best we have to our guests.

The free bus has stops in the shopping center, in the others hotels of the company as well as in the town of Caleta de Fuste, timetables are at reception for the disposal of every single person.

We are sorry about the comments on the food, we will work to improve it even more, looks like with 4 themed dinners, themed menus, and special events we are not satisfying to all of our guests.

We had a week here (14th - 21st July) and was our second choice as the first hotel we booked in to went bust!

I'd stayed in the resort before - VERY QUIET and REMOTE if you are a family.

We arrived at 11:20 and reception checked us in, gave us our key to our apartment but then told us we couldn't haverthe all-inclusive wrist bands until 12:00... not sure what she thought we were capable of drinking in 40 minutes!

The first two days were good, nice and quiet around the pool - plenty of sunbeds, lovely poolside bar with great friendly staff and snacks. The food in the restaurant was average for the price we paid - however, breakfast was the better meal.

On day three (Wednesday) chaos arrived! It was like chav central with screeching single mums with their five kids. From that point it just went down hill! The tranquility of the first two days evaporated instantly - I have absolutely no problem with people enjoying themselves or having a good time... but is it really necessary to SCREECH at the top of your voice... It went on and on.

There is a sign near the pool that says you cannot reserve your sunbeds - any towels on the sunbeds at 10:00 with nobody using them will be removed and placed on the wall. Great! However, it never happened - all the sunbeds had been taken by 07:45 each morning! When I mentioned this to reception I got a shrug of the shoulders...

So to sum it up - I would stay here again, but not all inclusive I don't think and defintiely not in high season. I don't think it was the best value for money.

I've rated it as average becasue the one good thing was it was clean!

Room Tip: Try and get one of the rooms in "S" block as these are away from teh main block.

Dear Parkie68,

Thank you for your comments on Tripadvisor.

I have to apologize about the issue of the wrist bands. As you said it is not a matter of how much you can drink or eat in 40 minutes.

We are happy that you enjoyed your first days in the hotel, we are not a only adults hotel and we accept kids in the hotel. Sometimes if you are looking for some rest it's difficult to find it arround the pool, specially when its busy.

We advise people not to reserve the sunbeds, unfortunately some of them ignore the advise and reserve the sunbed from 7:30. Now we pick up all the sun beds at night and we stand them at 9:00.

Hope to see you again, sunny regards,

Miguel Angel Sánchez
