Ok. Having been a regular visitor to Caleta we knew of this hotel and the reputation that has been shared on these very pages. After a very busy year we decided to get away no matter what at very short notice. This Hotel was very cheap and available. Upon arrival we stored our bags in the locked room and went for a quick look around. The layout is very good and its a sun trap trust me. Pool was sufficient, and bar area spacious. After a visit to El Capitans, we collected our things and went to our room. It was spacious enough with separate bathroom and bedroom together with a lounge area and small kitchen.
Lunch is a self service affair. Now trust me, any all inclusive can get boring after a while. Luckily I enjoy a simple diet and the salads and cooked meats where sufficient.
The bar seemed well stocked ( 2 drinks per person) in plastic glasses. I did ask for a pint glass which they do have however some waiters where reluctant to give you one.
Probably because it involves washing them at some stage.
If you want a sunbed its the usual get up and grab one as soon as they are available then put your towel on them and get breakfast, or in some cases go shopping for half a day!!
Now I don't want to complain about anything but a few things did make me wonder who runs the place and how high the bar is set regarding standards.
The English entertainment rep turns up usually mid morning/lunch looking like he's been on the lash. He smokes in front of all the guests which I'm sure you will agree in ANY customer service industry is a big NONO. Not a plus in my book
But the biggest shock was about to come. On our last day there was a commotion from the pool and a young lady had ran past informing there had been an accident. A young boy had gone into the pool and whether he had slipped or got out of his depth, went under. Apparently one of the guests had spotted him at the bottom of the pool and dragged him out. He had to be resuscitated.
Not one lifeguard in sight or actually any members of staff with any first aid knowledge. Disgraceful. The little lad was brought round and taken to hospital. Later hat night he was back to his mischievous self, however it could have been very different.
Now chances of this happening are very slim however I think it was worth mentioning. The hotel has no life guard on duty as advertised on the wall next to the pool.

However all in all if you are a couple wanting basic digs and food as a base but spend your days on the beach and swimming in the sea, then go for it..
P.S no idea about the entertainment as we never stayed in the hotel at night. Too busy enjoying ourselves.

Room was ok, beds with springs protruding and bed settee torn and very worn. Kitchen reasonably stocked and only a couple of TV channels. Food was ok but we not fussy although the flies everywhere - some dead on desserts and salads was very off-putting. Not much choice of food but we managed. You get what you pay for and we needed an affordable family holiday and we got it with absolutely no frills. The bar and waiting staff are absolutely fantastic and very friendly, helpful and all round great. Reception staff are a little offish but not so bad. The pool was quite cool and my daughter not happy to go in very much. I couldn't stand the cold so didn't go in at all. The comment Bout the sun beds is absolutely true, most beds are broken and although they have a sign about not reserving beds, people do and quite often are left empty (except for the towel on the bed syndrome) until late afternoon!!! Very annoying. I would go again just because it is very cheap which made it affordable for us but don't expect much and you shouldn't be too disappointed. Oh yes and no air conditioning which can be hard to endure!

Room Tip: Ask to not be near lift and stair areas.

Our apartment had everything we needed and was thoroughly cleaned every other day. The small courtyard has an amazingly good sized pool, also very clean. Supermarkets, cafés, restaurants, including wonderful Fado Rock within short walking distance, on good, flat pavements. The street itself is quiet. Only criticism is that the security guard needs to work with a partner to deal with occasional rowdies getting out of hand, especially as guests on upper floors like to sleep with verandah doors open to let in night breeze. Shocked by amount of litter dropped by guests lounging on poolside, but cleaners do a great job of picking it all up and washing the area with a hose. Would give this place an Excellent if they recycled waste and improved the food. Hope to return.

Room Tip: Poolside ground floor if you don't mind risking people seeing you eating on your verandah!

Just arrived home from this hotel. Well the rooms we clean and basic what we expected. We arrived at 9.15 pm at night to be told to go to the burger bar for our evening meal as the restaurant was closed.
Well the food was poor ever over cooked or under cooked, flies every where. The same food everyday what was left from one meal ,was made into other.
Had to get a sun bed early if you didn't you would not get one, not enough umbrellas they was only 2 for the whole complex. The bar area was ok but the cushions we dirty. We asked for chips as a snack and were told they would cost us 2Euros as not included in the all inclusive.
On the day of departure we asked for bread rolls and tin foil we told no.
The entertainment is aimed for children only. People complained about this and was told to shut up by staff.

Room Tip: don't have a room above the bar.

Cheap hotel in great location. Few yards from beach and local shops, bars and restaurants. Did not try swimming pool as it was always busy and full of loud , drunk people. Food was ok , nothing special but what you expect from the price.

This wasn't our choice of hotel as the one we had paid to stay in La Tahona Garden was overbooked & on arrival (from previous comments this seems it looks like this happens frequently).First impressions on arriving at Caleta Garden was ok the reception was clean & air conditioned. Our room wasn't ready & the all inclusive didn't start until 1pm on arrival day which given the fact that through no fault of our own we were at this hotel a welcome cold drink would of been given free while we waited. Our room,301, was on the 2nd floor overlooking the street opposite a lounge bar where music was played(loudly)till 5am a reason why I'd never choose to book a hotel on a street. The room itself was generally clean though in need of some general repairs. It had self catering facilities but if you wanted a kettle or toaster these could be hired for €8
each with a deposit of €10 for the week.No air conditioning (reception only) but you could hire a fan for €15 all subject to availability. The room was cleaned 3 times during our week stay with towels being changed but not sheets. The shower was a good pressure & temperature but a couple of times it was shared with a cockroach. The pool area isn't big enough for the hotel & sunbeds were all reserved with towels by 8am even though the hotel states that this is not allowed. The bar area is a good size with plenty of outside tables & if you get to know the bar staff you can have more than the 2 drinks allowed at once which some people seemed to take advantage of quite often.Wifi has to be paid for & can only be accessed in reception though most local bars & restaurants have it free.Food was repetitive & you could guess what the next meal would consist of by the left overs from the previous one e.g if tuna was had at lunch time it would be a tuna salad at dinner, the breakfast rolls became garlic bread at lunch & there was always chips & ham pizza. No air conditioning & plenty of flies, hygiene seemed very poor if not dangerous. The outside tables would have pigeons eating off unattended plates & the staff would give the tables a quick wipe with the same cloths they carried each meal time, no spray, wiping bird droppings up with them then wiping other tables. There was a hand washing basin behind the hot food counter but it was always covered with a towel.A wheelie bin was kept uncovered behind the counter.Staff just seemed totally oblivious to food hygiene. There are plenty of places that are reasonably priced to eat out nearby but that kind of defeats the object of paying all inclusive. We had a day trip booked & needed to catch a bus at 830 am so went to have a cup of tea at 8 before leaving only to be shouted at to get out of restaurant as it wasn't open.Breakfast times are 8 till 10.I asked at reception if our original hotel was fully booked for the whole week or were we having to stay at the Caleta & was told that we were lucky to be there & we had been given the same rated hotel so there could be no cause for complaint. If you wanted a holiday with the participants of Jeremy Kyle & the cast of Benefits Street then this is the place for you.I wasn't expecting 5* for the price I paid but the 3 * & not the 2* that I was given.

Room Tip: Don't overlook street
