Get what you pay for, your holiday is what you make it, there is not much to do for young couples, more for families and the elderly. No complaints at all though, hotel was clean, staff were friendly, facilities were good. Many shops restaurants and bars in and around the complex not very exciting excursion wise but had a lovely break :):)

Just come back from Fuerterventura after staying 2 weeks in Club Montecastillo. had a fab holiday, the apartments didn't exceed our expectations as checked it out on trip Advisor before booking but was clean and linen and towels changed regularly. The complex had three lovely pools to one which our veranda overlooked. Some bungalows are now private which have air con. Unfortunately, ours didn't and in August I think you need it as the fans didn't keep us cool. All facilities in the kitchen area fridge, 2 ring hob, kettle, microwave, toaster, iron and ironing board if you wanted to cook there. We just used the kettle for tea/coffee and the microwave and toaster for quick snacks if hungry and we wasn't going out early. The supermarket was nearby so not far to lug the big bottles of water. Nice friendly bar called Zanzibar but wouldn't rate the entertainment in there and also on the complex is a restaurant called Cest Moi which we had a lovely meal...All in all had a great time. 10-15 minute walk downhill into the main town but there was a commercial centre 2 mins away and went in The bell and frequented Chaplins which are both English owned and met some great people. Chaplins also has a chippy but the downside is that the chips are frozen not homemade but they do a fab steak pie.

Room Tip: if you don't the bungalow request to change. lovely English lady on reception who will bend over...

We've just arrived back from a 2 week holiday at montecastillo and I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised, after reading terrible reviews and paying so little for our holiday we were quite worried on arrival.
Our 2 bedroom apartment was basic but clean and tidy, the complex is well maintained, the 3 pools were great and there was always plenty of space, so no having to rush to the pool in the morning (with 3 children) was such a massive bonus. The town of Caleta de Fuste is just a short walk down the hill, there you'll find restaurants bars and shops in abundance and a beautiful sandy beach, and if you haven't got the energy to walk back a taxi is a mere €3.50.
We absolutely loved the place and have the number to book direct next year, cheap rooms, friendly helpful staff and a great location for us, made for a perfect holiday.

Apartments are very dated, worn and in dire need of upgrading. On arrival we had to ask for our patio furniture to be replaced as the table was filthy with ingrained dirt and also had a massive crack around the outside. This was replaced withing a few hours however the old one was discarded opposite our apartment and left for the remainder of the week. Due to building works on our block we were wakened at 830 each morning by drilling, hammering and knocking down of walls. Once they started on the apartment next to ours we requested to be moved. This was done fairly quickly and we were given an apartment overlooking the pool. A much better view however the apartment itself was still very shabby. Tiles were uneven, the taps were rotting away with mould and there was cobwebs all over the bedroom. In general there doesn't appear to be any standard maintenance on the apartments or surroundings. Out of 84 apartments on site only 21 appeared to be owned by the complex with the remainder sold off to private owners. The pool area is nice and you have the option of using 3 separate pools available. Again though, still seems to be a lack of general maintenance and upkeep. On the plus side the apartments had a kettle, toaster and microwave and the ceiling fans were a god send overnight. Would not return to these apartments.

POSITIVES:
Fairly clean.
Room consisted of: Ceiling fans. Safe. Microwave. Kettle. Toaster. 2 hob cooker. TV. Bath & shower. Fridge freezer - although the freezers door had been ripped off so didn't actually work.
Lots of storage space.
Use of 3 pools - although there was only one baby pool that our 2 year old could stand up in.
Use of Gym and volleyball court.

NEGATIVES:
Very dated - needs modernising.
Sofa bed was disgusting - in terms of stains.
Huge cockroaches.
Outside table collapsed every time we moved it.
Fridge door handle was falling off.
Flushing the toilet whilst draining the bath = major leak!
Arrived Saturday with first change of bed sheets on Tuesday. Bed was then made on Thursday but sheets weren't changed. So basically one change of sheets within 7 days.
Arrived Saturday but wasn't given a hair dryer until Monday, having asked twice.
Sun beds were terrible. All need to be binned and new ones bought.

OTHER:
15 min walk to beach.
Gorgeous breeze.
Supermarket near by.
Pavements within surrounding area were terrible - some of the pavements were just a mixture of gravel and sand, so no good for a pushchair.

We stayed in a private 2 bed bungalow that was fairly modern just opposite the very friendly Malibu bar. The pool area could do with a revamp and the sunbeds could do with updating but we had no problem getting beds each day. The weather was very hot and the pool cold so we spent a lot of time in the pool. The cooking facilities were basic but we managed a decent meal for 8 people one night. Eating and drinking out on the patio until 11pm each night was brilliant. The Zanzibar across the road from reception is good and friendly and the restaurant below that does decent meals. It is a fair walk to town but easy enough as is the walk to the large supermarket by the beach. The taxi trip back with the shopping is about 3/4 Euros. We are going back again in August to see friends and the kids can't wait. This resort is not to everyone's tastes if you want fully modern and updated, but we had a really good value family holiday and were sad to leave.

Room Tip: Near the pool if possible
