We have just returned from a fantastic week at this hotel. We had a deluxe room number 356, it looked out over the pool and on to the ocean, a beautiful view to wake up to every morning. The room was very spacious, plenty of wardrobe space, a safe and coffee making facilities. The bathroom had a seperate toilet , twin sinks , with a hairdryer at the side , a bath and huge walk in shower, plenty of towels and two dressing gowns if you need them. In the main part of the room we had a king size bed with pristine white bedding, a desk and chair and a sofa and coffee table. On the balcony we had two wicker chairs and a coffee table. Reception is beautiful, check in was fast and efficient, having a glass of something cold and bubbly to round off the check in process. Our cases were whisked up to our room by the porter for us and reached the room before we did. The pool area is immaculate with several pools to choose from, entertainment is offered but not forced on you by a really friendly and helpful entertainment's organiser, you can either join in aqua aerobics, archery, water polo or Zumba or just relax round the pool unaware that these activities are taking place. The restaurant is partly inside or you can sit on a patio area if tables are available, the food is second to none, themed evenings (Asian,Italian,Spanish) offer a fantastic variety of different foods each night or you can always choose a piece of fresh meat and the chef will cook it in front of you. One of our party is celiac and they had a brilliant selection of gluten free breads and spaghetti which they prepared for her, (unheard of in most British restaurants) All the staff were polite ,friendly and very very helpful, nothing was too much trouble for anyone. The wi-fi was only available in the reception but that's no big hassle, we were on holiday trying to escape the internet and phones. In short a superb hotel set in beautiful grounds with an excellent team of staff, we will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: A deluxe room looks over the sea, a beautiful view to wake up to

This hotel is pretty quite as Sheraton usually is and it is perfect for golf' lovers. Its located just 5 minutes away from the beach and a nice shopping center. Perfect to relax yourself and disconnect. Fuerteventura Island and its beaches will do the rest.

This is a grand palatial hotel, a few hundred yards from the centre of Calleta de Fuste. It is in an area of more upmarket and larger hotels situated right on a superb beach which is ideal for families and adults. Behind the hotel are a couple of golf courses and there is a large indoor shopping centre 5 minutes’ walk away.

Public areas 9/10
This hotel has an absolutely massive, tropical- style garden within which you will find swimming pools, a restaurant, mini golf and a children’s play area amongst other things. There was never a shortage of sunbeds. There is a large terrace outside the bar and restaurant where you could dine, drink or just relax. There is also a very large and well-furnished reception hall where the Wi Fi was free.

Bars and entertainment 6/10
There is a bar adjoining the reception area which wasn’t used by many people; in fact, it was fairly dead in the evenings, although they did attempt to liven things up with “entertainment” . This nearly always came on when most people were dining and was usually a vocalist singing to backing tracks. There is a large “pub” on the lower floor near the dining room but it was never open during our stay.

Bedrooms 10/10
The standard rooms are massive. They are very well maintained, clean and tidy with a gigantic comfy bed, a settee, arm chair and coffee table There are very nice wicker sunbeds and chairs on the large balcony. We booked a garden view room but were given one which also had a fantastic view of the beach and sea – a perfect view and setting. We had sunshine on our balcony most of the day

Bathroom 10/10
Well, actually, this was 4 rooms which were extremely well-furnished and equipped - twin hand basins with very good mirrors and lighting, a separate room with a toilet, another room with a full size bath and a yet another room which was a very large walk-in shower. There were always plenty of towels and toiletries.

Restaurant 8/10
The restaurant offered self-service, buffet style meals at breakfast and dinner and there were no restrictions as to where you sat. One part of the dining room was for families with young children. Although it is a very large dining hall it was split into smaller areas which gave it more of a small restaurant feel rather than a canteen having to feed the masses. There was a themed dinner every night - Italian, Asiatic, Spanish, Arabic etc. which gave you a chance to try alternative cuisine you may never have considered in the past, but others may have struggled to find food to their liking on some nights. Overall the food was pretty good but not the best I have ever had, which was a little surprising considering this hotel is a top of the range 5 star

Staff 9/10
All the staff in this hotel that we came across were excellent - very polite, friendly and knowledgeable. Some of the best we have ever come across in our travels

Resort 7/10
Calleta de Fuste if not a large resort but it does have a long sweeping safe beach, a good promenade and a fair array of bars and shops. It is also only a 10 minute drive to the airport. There is a small marina which adds to the character of the resort

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor and in the part of the hotel nearest to Calleta de Fuste if you want...

This is a great hotel. Stayed here with my wife for 10 nights. The rooms are massive. Bed was huge, and very comfortable. Bathroom was beautiful too. Staff super friendly. Only had breakfast there every day and there was a huge spread so plenty of options for everyone. Only negatives is the wifi is dreadful all over the hotel. Also if you want a sun lounger get up early. At 10am they're all gone!! Families seem to grab 5 beds and leave their towels on them all day!

Consistently Inconsistent!

Stayed here at the end of April 2014 for a week on full board basis.

As an SPG member I knew that the Sheraton would be to a certain standard compared to others on the island. The hotel is very spread out and has a large footprint so feels spacious. As it is the closest to the airport the transfer by taxi was only ten Euros, we were told the hotel could have picked us up.

Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by a bell boy who took our bags which arrived swiftly at the room. At reception we were offered a drink, soft or Cava. We were checked in very efficiently. The reception is large and spacious and has a glass atrium over three floors with large palms indoors, very nice, right next to the bar.

We had booked a standard sea view room with king size bed and it was large and spacious and very well appointed with a lovely comfy bed. The bathroom was great, a separate toilet and bidet behind smoked glass doors, his and hers basins in the main part with lots of space for your things, nice amenities supplied including a shower 'scoosh' type thing, there was a separate bathroom separated by another smoked glass door with a bath with mixer shower tap and then a walk in shower. It was like a wet room, with two types of shower, one rain head and one handheld like you'd have at home. Water was constant and hot.

The air con unit was almost silent and very good, there was also a fan above the bed, the balcony was pleasant with a pair of nice comfy chairs with a footstool and table, great for sundowners on the balcony looking out to sea.

We were on the 4th floor and moved after 2 days to the top floor (5th) as we had a noisy neighbour and in the morning the cleaning lady on the floor above would move all the furniture in the room and wake us up. This wasn't really early though, we liked to lie in till about 09:45 and catch breakfast just before it ended at 10:30. The one negative point about the rooms was that they all have adjoining doors, and these are not sound proofed, so you get to hear lots of what goes on next door, including the bathroom noises. When we moved rooms we noticed that the second room didn't have a full length mirror or bath robes, both of which were present in the first. Again, inconsistent.

As we were full board we ate each day in the buffet restaurant, there's as always plenty of choice, lost of local Spanish meats, and a hot section where dishes we were constantly prepared and you could have food cooked to order, there was no shortage on choice. Typically there was a bread station, toasters, tea section, meats, salads, seafood, cheffing station where things were assembled for you, deserts section and ice cream section. Dotted around the dining room were coffee machines you can use too. No drinks are provided free, other than orange juice at breakfast, so at dinner you can choose house red or white by the glass or buy a bottle etc. Prices for a bottle ranged from about 20 euros upwards.

My overriding observation of the dining room at all meal times was that they seemed totally under-staffed. If you came down to breakfast or dinner later in the session, you'd have to ask for a table to be cleared and set for you, despite there being a huge number of tables overall. Service was always inconsistent, sometimes a waiter would come to you straight away, other times you struggle to find anyone in the room to gesture at to come over. Some lunch times we had to go almost the entire meal without even a glass of water because no one had seen to us. They don't serve any free water, it's all bottled and at a cost and only 500ml.

Whilst dining there's always pandemonium going on around you in this restaurant, staff pushing trolleys of plates etc and rushing about, it's not a relaxing environment to eat in and chill, it's a bit manic, plus it tends to be where families ate so there's lots of noise and children etc. They seemed to cater for the kids well, high chairs scattered about, a microwave for warming food and children's and baby food on offer, the kids loved the help yourself ice cream cabinet too, normally four flavours of ice cream to scoop from, plus cornetto style cornets if you liked.

There were other restaurants available but as we were full board we didn't go to any of these. The buffet was an all you can eat affair and food quality was always high, at lunch I loved to have a big salad with a freshly cooked steak by the chef on service.

The pool area was spaced out and designed well, there are five pools, one for the youngest children with play things in and around, surrounded by plenty of sun loungers for the parents, this one is closest to the beach and promenade. Of the other four beaches two are unheated, they have interesting layouts and there was space for everyone. Lots of sun loungers are scattered about, parasols (permanent not moveable) and some day beds at extra charge. There is always a lifeguard on duty who also does first aid and hands out the towels using a ticket system. He was very attentive, my girlfriend and I both had to have minor first aid and he would come and check on us. In the grounds there's mini golf, tennis, a basket ball court, kids club, pétanque and crazy golf. We didn't use any of these.

In reception there is an Avis car hire desk with the easiest automated car hire system ever on an iPad. We booked a car for two days for 66 euros and explored the island. I checked online at the free computer station in the lobby and although you could get a car hire for a little less, you'd have to go to the airport to get it, so it worked out more in the end. There is free wifi in the reception and lobby area.

The bar had live entertainment each night, most were very good, and there seemed to be lots of seating in and outside the bar and spilling into the main part of the building around the palms with comfortable seats. Service at the bar was not great, again under staffed. We had to wait 20 minutes for drinks one night so complained, however the spirits measures were very generous. Some people got bar snacks, we never did for some reason. Inconsistent.

In all the toilets there was never any bars of soap or any in the dispensers, instead there was the little bottles of shampoo you'd get in your room with which to wash your hands, this again made no sense to me. Some of the toilet doors didn't have a lock on them either. I may be jinxed but every time I went to use one of these toilets a cleaning lady would follow me in to do something, which I found very annoying and not very private. On the day of checkout we asked for a late checkout or a room we could use as our flight was not till 9pm, they said they cant do that but that we could use the Spa to shower etc. When we got there the gents showers and changing room didn't have any amenities to use, no hairdryer, only a dispenser of some liquid gel of some sort in each shower. Once again just as I had undressed a cleaning lady came in, right on cue whilst I was completely naked!

There is a general store in the hotel lobby area, it only seemed to open at about 10pm for an hour, I couldn't figure out why.

If you want to go shopping for anything there's a small mall a few minutes walk from the hotel with a Spar supermarket, a longer walk away there's a community type area with shops, bars, pharmacy etc.

I'd say the hotel was very good overall but lacked attention to detail, I wouldn't go back simply because we have now seen the island and have no need to see it again.

Room Tip: All rooms are adjoining sadly, go for higher floors if possible, all rooms face the sea.

So does it really live up to the expectations? Yes, in many, but not all, ways. As other guests already noted, the breakfast is great. We had full board and I would say that lunch buffet and evening buffet is great as well. Food is always fresh, meat and fish cooked at your order, warm food changed and refilled often. Waiters were always very polite and did a really good job, even when things were stressful for them. Staff at the front desk and other places were also very polite and helpful which is much appreciated!

The room was comfortable and quite big. We had a junior suite and the bathroom was almost the size of a double room itself - jacuzzi and walk-in closet. We first got a room on the second level, which was not great if you want a sea view. As we had paid extra for sea view, we complained and were moved to a room on the fourth floor the next day. All rooms are facing the pool and the sea, but to be sure getting a sea view - ask for a room higher up in the building.

The beach is right outside the hotel area and is very nice. Unfortunately it was too windy for us to really enjoy it.

Things not perfect or up to standard of a five star Sheraton were hallways. The carpet had seen its better days. The pool area could do with new tiles, both in the pools and around them. Our son stepped on a piece of mosaic from the kids pool, luckily it wasn't sharp. Further, I would expect free wifi in all rooms on a hotel of this caliber. There was free wifi, but only in the lobby area.

Altogether, we were very happy with our stay at Sheraton Fuerteventura Beach. For a full five from us, fix the above, and we would be happy to return.

Room Tip: Higher up for sea view.
