“Great family holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 November 2013

We stayed here for 1 week 11th October 2013 and while we were there the complex was very quiet. The entertainment staff were great and so lovely with all the kids - special mention to Andrew who really encouraged our son to complete the airiel adventure climb. The activities for kids were great which meant we had lots of time to relax by the pool.Because it was October the outdoor pools were freezing but the indoor pool was fine. The rooms were good, cleaned daily and plenty of space and storage. We also thought the food was reasonable (except the barbecue which was dire and you had to book it !!You could always find something nice in the restaurant and their fish was exceptionally good. The choice and quality of the drinks tho was very poor and really let the complex down. On the whole we enjoyed our visit tho I'm not sure I would like to be there when the village was full

A retired couple, together with our 6 year old granddaughter, we visited the Holiday Village Menorca, between the 26th October and 2nd November 2013, our local school half-term holiday. As described by many previous reviewers of this excellent holiday hotel, we cannot fault the hotel facilities, in particular the catering, bar and entertainment staff. We were in block 2, room 2107, this faced away from the pool area, but after reading about evening entertainment noise, we were happy with this position. The room overlooked a service road, but the balcony had the afternoon sun, handy for a quiet sit and to dry our swimming costumes, towels etc. Having read reports about the rooms, we were pleasantly reassured to find the accommodation perfectly acceptable.
Yes, a new coat of paint could improve the decor, but everything worked fine and overall we were very comfortable during our week stay. Like others, we had a slight problem with ants, but this was rapidly and effectively resolved.
The food was excellent, variety and quality for both adults and children alike. Likewise, drinks from both the poolside bar and the entertainment room were of good quality and as much as you liked! No complaints on either....other than the wasps, yes they were still there in November.
The entertainment staff/reps are what made this holiday, they were superb. They looked after our granddaughter, made her feel special, she loved them. They provided excellent day and evening entertainment of very high professional quality, thank you all.
The outside pools were too cold for this granddad, but we made full use of the inside pool and other facilities with our granddaughter.
Our only negative comment would be about the local resort of Cala'n Bosch, which was closed and I mean shut, no, totally dead! From previous reports, we expected that it would be quiet, a bit like Morecambe on a wet weekend but this place was deceased, the only thing left alive were the fish in the, admittedly, pretty marina. Even the posh boats in the harbour were wrapped in plastic as protection against the winter elements. My wife panicked to find the only cigarettes available, Lucky Strike & Camels, were from a machine in the last remaining tapas bar in the town. Only a bus ride (1.95 euro each one way, good value) to Ciutadella saved the day. The last remaining supermarket shut on the day we left, only sales of water floats and English newspapers had kept them open.
Would we go again? Yes for the hotel and staff, but not in October as we like to see a little of the local surrounding area when it is open for business.

Room Tip: Block 2 is away from the entertainment and is quieter.

We took this holiday to get some last minute sunshine. We read all the previous reviews and thought it was worth booking.

We took one child aged 11.

First of all the food. Uninviting, tasteless, non inspirational, and was what I would call made out of Budget food. I am not a snob but the food is mainly geared for children which of course is good
for kids.

Pool areas were never cleaned, tables were left dirty, in the 10 days we were there not once did we see anyone clean the pool area, or the tables. This spillage of drinks on the floor encouraged the wasps and flies. The floor area was filthy.

The pool had broken tiles and when wet were slippery and we saw many children slip over.
Pathways were not swept the same dirt was there to the end. Sun beds were again years old and need replacing as they were well worn and should go to the tip with the other furniture.

Children's entertainers were brilliant.

For us it was one boring holiday listening to the buggy brigade with their screaming children
Kids helping themselves to food, spilling all over the floor. Kids being left alone on tables
chucking the cutlery around and screaming at every given opportunity. Mummy and daddy would
ignore, and go and get more food to appease the kids.

Seeing staff holiday reps and staff collecting plastic glasses from the pool area daily, one poor
bar man serving drinks and collecting when he could gives you an idea on the shoe string this
Establishment in run on.

The pool bar you often had to queue to get a drink but the poor fella went as quick as he could.
He worked with again wasps and flies around him.

The drinks were grim, paint stripper for the White wine, the red was ok.

The lounge, chairs were torn, badly stained and looked the remains of a 1 star hotel.
People sat in the lounge with wet costumes and did not care. We pointed this out to staff.
The coffee table was disgusting ingrained dirt it must have been years old. So a need to
Take this lot to the tip.

The bedroom was ok, the furniture fabric stunk of stale sweat bodies which hit you in the face.
The maids cleaned everyday, but the beautiful aroma of stale bodies was not a pleasant one. The air conditioning did not work effectively and a number of us ended up with cough which had to treated by the doctor arriving home?

To anyone who has children who want to do just what they want this is for you.

We felt this is a money making machine run on a shoestring, you serve grap food, drink and keep the kids occupied by the FC entertainers then you can have a good holiday.

Clearly there are 4 star and 4 star this was a mere 1 star in quality, but a number of you will disagree but one mans meat is another mans poison.

Stayed from 18th to 25th October, the quieter of the two half term week's and was amazed that this wonderful hotel was only 25% full! This had its advantages as we never struggled to find a sunbed or queue for food and drink. The entertainment and kids club teams were the best we had ever come across in our travels as were the hotel staff themselves.
The food was excellent, always hot and loads of choice with a theme each evening in the main restaurant such as Sea Food, Tex Mex etc and well worth a visit to the Italian and Barbeque restaurants. The bar staff were brilliant especially Simon at the pool bar who was always so helpful and great with the children.
We were extremely lucky with the weather, sunny and up to 28° most days, but on the one cloudy day when we had a little bit of rain the entertainment was soon moved indoors to keep everyone occupied. The evening shows excellent with some extremely talented and energetic members of the entertainment team
We stayed in room 3212 on the top floor of block 3 which was ideal as it faced the quiet end of the swimming pool and got the sun nearly all day so towels etc easily got dry. The apartments were roomy, having a separate bedroom and if I had one minor criticism would be that they are looking a little tired now but am sure this is something Gruphotel are ready to address.
Cala d'Bosch was a lovely little resort with two really nice beaches although most of it was closed in October but this didn't matter to us as there was so much going on at the hotel. Would definitely return and with it only being a 2 hour flight was ideal for a week away.

Room Tip: Room 3212 away from outdoor stage area so a bit quieter and got the sun all day on the balcony

Just arrived back in England having had the most fantastic time at this holiday village . Our party of six ( 8 years to 69 years) were all of the same opinion. The children were catered for from dawn until dusk, allowing total relaxation for the oldies. Both the hotel staff and first choice reps were excellent throughout, all with ready smiles and a friendly word even on their days off.
As an older couple we normally book adult only holidays but wanted a family holiday this time, it exceeded all our expectations. The food choice and quality was excellent and the chefs only too pleased to cook foods to ones liking.I would certainly recommend it to others and look forward to a return visit. What a pity they dont do Christmas breaks ! Madian sherwood forest notts

Room Tip: . Our balcony facing north meant drying towels etc difficult..We were in the block on the south side...
