We have just returned from a week's holiday in Santorini, and want to say a few things about this hotel. If you are looking for a hotel that is spotlessly clean, in a quiet but convenient location, and where the management and staff are genuinely friendly and helpful, then this is the hotel for you! Nothing is too much trouble for them, just ask them for information about possible walks or places to eat, or maybe about something like how to operate the showers, and they will oblige you every time. We have stayed in many hotels over the years, and this has been the cleanest and freindliest by a long way.

Kamari itself is a reasonably sized resort with the usual selection of taverna and shops, plus a beach where you can hire sunbeds for approximately 6 Euros a day. try the end of the beach near the Splash bar - much quieter and the sunbeds are more spaced out.

The restaurants are generally pretty fair, most selling the usual Greek fayre and other dishes. However, our favourite, and one which rates very highly in the Trip Advisor lists for Kamari, was the Liver Bird. Owned by a smashing English couple, the service and food were both excellent, and much better than anywhere else we have tried in any of the Greek Islands! Clean plates every night! You'll find it on a side road off the waterfront at the Northern end of the resort, but give it a go, you won't regret it!

We didn't do any excursions, but did walk up the hill to Ancient Thira - what a view overlooking Perissa below! And we also walked up to the Monastery nearby, and inland to the earthquake hit village form several years ago. All free, all reached after exhilerating walks, and all very rewarding and memorable.

We were very impressed with the all-round experience of our holiday. Biggest downside was the small airport and the reps 'advising' us all to wait in a local taverna up the hill after checking in our luggage on our return trip. Didn't need to do this - we chose to remain in the airport, found a couple of seats and the small airport cafe was excellent for drinks etc! Give this resort and hotel a try, most people seem to agree that you shouldn't regret it. And try the Liver Bird restaurant - it's a real gem and well worth it's advanced Trip Adviser rating!

Room Tip: We had Room 306 at the back of the hotel. Mountain view, and gets the sun at the end of the day.

My wife and I and our teenage daughter stayed as 28 Boutique hotel in the last week of July. What more can I add to what has already been said in other reviews? The hotel is very clean and simply furnished and is so calm you cannot help but relax.

The pool and sunbeds were great and the location was perfect, away from the main crowds, but only a short walk from the restaurants and bars.

We loved the island as well. The water taxi to Perissa and a night in Thira were highlights. Best of all though were the staff who manage to make everyone feel like they are the best guests they have ever had at the hotel. We would really like to visit Santorini again and woould not stay anywhere else on the island.

We stayed at the 28 Boutique Hotel for 1 week from 17th July 2012 and had a wonderful time!

Hotel
The staff at the hotel were so friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, we felt like we were leaving friends when it came to saying goodbye.
The location is great as it's tucked away in a nice quiet area, yet only 5-10min walk to the main promenade.
Breakfast consists of cereal, toast, few hot options and fruit/yoghurt and nice coffee machine and fruit juice which suited us fine! You can get lunch around the pool which was lovely and reasonably priced!
Sunbeds are really comfy and you get pool towels provided.
You can also use the sister hotel which we did on the odd day.. Bellonias Villas on the seafront, right at the far end of the promenade, they also provide towels-you show your keycard at the reception, also a lovely hotel with nice lunch if you fancy a day down the beach!
We stayed in a Double pool view room on the ground floor which was lovely. Cleaned everyday!

Location
Kamari is a lovely resort with lots of bars, shops and restaurants all lined along the seafront promenade, The beach isn't very sandy but this didn't bother us too much as we knew the beaches in Santorini weren't the best in Greece. We walked up the hills to ancient Thira and walked down the other side to Perissa.. slightly better beach there but preffered Kamari as more going off. We got the water taxi back from Perissa which was 4euro and think it runs about 10-4ish!
We went to Thira on the local bus one evening approx 2euro each and got a taxi back around 12euro as the buses were really busy. Thira is lovely and definitely worth the visit for the amazing views! On another day we went to Oia which is also a must,... we stayed for the sunset as everyone gathers around, amazing views from here too and the blue topped chapels etc!

Restaurants
Kamari- our favourite was Almira on the seafront, lovely staff and amazing food!
Thira- we ate in Argo Taverna which was really nice, busy restaurant, again good service!
Oia- Kyprida- had an amazing beef stifado from here, again a busy restaurant with great service!

We would definitely recommend Santorini as a holiday destination and would not hesitate to go back.. the only disappointing bit was that we didn't go for 2 weeks as we weren't ready to come home!

Love Gareth and Rach ( aka Naomi ;) ) xxx

Just returned last week from Hotel 28 in Kamari and wished we were back there. Ideal location, great staff, well looked after accommodation. Felt totally at home from getting off the coach, the staff running the hotel are a credit to the business, from the cleaners to reception and bar staff all are totally welcoming extremely friendly and pleasant every time you see them making every effort to make your stay a wonderful experience. By the time you leave they send you off like family. Nothing is too much trouble.

This was an ideal location being in a slightly quieter area to be able to relax but in easy walking distance to the front of Kamari for the tavernas/shops and bars.

Great to be able to use the sun loungers on the beach at the sister hotel for free and were really comfy.

Thanks to Argiro for the Greek lessons each morning - motivated us to take back up another course just found one starts in September so will be able to have a longer conversation next time we come. Would definitely return one day.

We visited a few other areas whilst in Kamari and glad that we chose this hotel and resort. From Kamari can use the bus service to get to Thira within about 10-15mins so get best of both worlds. Can take a taxi boat to Perissa takes about 20 mins but need good sea legs.

Must try the open air cinema whilst in Kamari as well great experience!

Any questions feel free to contact us happy to help where can. Excellent hotel

Room Tip: Rooms look either over the pool or over the back to mountains /sunset. We preferred the ones at the...

My fiance and I (now my husband!) got married from this hotel in June and what a wonderful hotel it is...I agree with the lady who says a week isnt long enough and if you are undecided..... book two!! The hotel is stylish and has a gentle, modern atmosphere. From the moment we (and our three children) arrived we felt at ease, welcomed and relaxed. The children (21, 12 and 11 were in one room and we were in another), even when the elder boy was 'out on the town' we never felt any threat to the two girls, it is such a safe environment, in the hotel and in Kamari itself.
The location of the hotel is very good, just a short walk away from many beachside restaurants and bars, and the food is very good at all of them.
It is a 20 minute walk to the sister hotel which is located on the beach, it is again stylish and relaxed and has free beach sunloungers for the two hotels guests.
Kamari is a wonderful place and although it is on the aircraft landing run I can honestly say after the first surprise you don't notice it! We visited the whole island and agreed it is the best place to be based. There are many mnay things to do there.
I can highly recommend the hotel, the resort and of course the island.

Room Tip: Try to get a pool view

Just returned from a weeks stay at 28 Boutique, 10th - 17th July, previous reviews cover everything, so I only need to say that yes the accommodation is lovely but it's the staff that make this hotel as wonderful as it is! Lovely, lovely people with very big hearts, and the only place I've ever stayed where I saw tears from the staff saying goodbye to guests, they really do look after everyone with all their hearts!

Santorini is a beautiful island, stayed in Perissa last year but definitely prefer Kamari. Take the local bus to Oia, easy to do and cheap and Oia is beautiful - if a little on the hot side this year!

All that's left to say is a big thank you to 28 Boutique girls and boys! We will return for a chocolate milkshake!
