Firstly, as everyone else has said so far, the staff are by far the greatest asset of this hotel. Faultless.

However, there re some basic, minor issues that hold me back from giving a 5 star rating, and a couple of issues that, had it not been for the staff would probably have me rating it as a 3 star.

Minors:
The rooms are basic. Comfortable, very clean, but basic.
The halls of the hotel are very echoey, thus all noise from surrounding comings and goings is exaggerated which can be quite load considering the last point below.
As pointed out below by several others there is a lack of shade by the pool. A couple of removable sombreros would make a massive difference.

Slightly bigger issues:
Breakfast. Again, as per the previous reviews this breakfast isnt great. The chef does a fantastic job with the lunch menu, I'm not sure if it is even the same person that provides the breakfast. Scrambled eggs are a disaster, and the only other cooked part of the breakfast; cocktail frankfurters & bacon (on alternating days) are over cooked to the death. Having said that, we ate breakfast in two other hotels on the island and the standard generally is a lot lower than what you would expect on the continent.

Weddings. By their very nature wedding parties are loud and rowdy. Had there been one in the time we were staying i'd have paid little attention to it and let life be life. However, there were 3 during our stay at the hotel. Coupled with the lack of noise insulation it really was a bit of an issue unfortunately.

Having said that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and overall, the hotel is pretty great. Fantastic staff, good location, the option of using the sister hotel by the beach is a nice touch, but with a few tweaks it could be almost faultless.

The room was quite modern. The bed was comfortable with fresh linen and towels every day. The pool area was excellent and the reception staff really were the best reception staffwe have ever met.
Kudos

As previous reviewers have stated, the staff here are amazing and made the holiday so much more enjoyable. I am trying to be as objective as possible to give an honest opinion of the hotel, without letting the fantastic staff sway the review into a higher league. The rooms are reasonable, although having to walk into the bedroom from the very dark shower room to wash hands after using the toilet is far from ideal. There is nowhere in the shower room to put soap or shower cream and we ended up putting it on the edge of the floor, just outside the shower. The shower temperature fluctuates between very hot and cold, during a 5 minute period and is far from powerful. Beds are quite comfortable. The breakfast is poor, I have no idea what on earth the chef does to the scrambled eggs ( they are dry, rubbery and salty ) as the lunches he provides at the pool bar are exceptionally good. Hard boiled eggs are also available at breakfast, melon, yoghurt, concentrated orange squash, cereals, bread, cheese, ham etc. coffee from a machine and tea bags. The hotel is not the place to come if you want a peaceful holiday as there are many wedding parties who stay here. We were part of one wedding party and there were 3 others while we were there, with other members of the weddings visiting from other hotels at various times throughout the day. There are not enough sun beds, particularly in the shady area, which is much in demand during the hottest times. In short - staff rating, A+, amenities rating, D.

Room Tip: We found our room at the rear, second floor was quiet.

Stayed here for the week leading up to our son & daughter-in-law's Hindu wedding. As noted by other reviewers the staff are all without exception truly wonderful. Nothing is to much trouble from arranging: day trips/excursions, bus timetables, taxis, hire cars, recommending an 'alternative' sunset location at the lighthouse on the south of the island. All requests were met with a smile and sunny disposition. A big plus was that the key staff made it their business to learn your name. Other wedding guests stayed in alternative larger hotels which we visited and we were very glad we chose Hotel 28 for its small, friendly family atmosphere. Use of there sister hotel gym facilities were greatly appreciated by our sons. We would highly recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Santorini. The hotel is 5-10 mins walk from Kamari centre and a similar amount of time from the sea. Thank you to Dimitra, Argiro, Dora and the owners son Stelios.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room at the back which got sun all afternoon and evening. It was nice and quiet. Room...

We stayed at Hotel 28 for our wedding. We chose 28 due to the fantastic reviews and I am pleased to say it met our expectations and beyond. The transfer from the airport was 5-10 minutes where we were greeted with huge smiles and people to help with our luggage, check in was very quick. We had a large group of 32 people from young children to elderly grandparents and this hotel suited everyone. The staff are fantastic, Aggy, Dimmi and Dora are always smiling and cannot do enough for you e.g. organising trips, transport, giving advice on resteraunts etc. Dora works hard on the pool bar serves delicious milkshakes and cocktails all day long. Then Super Stelios at night-time who did everything from keeping an eye on everyone, serving yummy drinks and making us all laugh. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, the rooms are clean and have everything you need, the food is great and it is the friendliest and most helpful hotel I have ever stayed in. I can't wait to go back and neither can the rest of our wedding party. Thank you Hotel 28 :)

While visiting Greece at the end of July/early August 2014, I stayed at Hotel 28. We checked in early and although a room wasn't available (it was 9:30am), they let us store our bags and use the pool and were very accommodating. The pool and pool bar are amazing. The days we weren't out visiting other cities or the beaches, we sat around lounging in or out of the pool and ordering delicious food, smoothies and cocktails by the pool. The staff is multi lingual and incredibly friendly and kind. Everyone becomes kind of a family there and it was sad leaving! They suggested so many amazing restaurants and were there to help us the whole time. You're even allowed to use the chaise lounges and parasols at the sister hotel as well as their pool if you want to change things up. Overall, great experience and I'd recommend this hotel to everyone (except maybe families with young kids because it's more of a couples/adult/young adult establishment). The only negative for me was the breakfast but it was included in the price so no real loss there!!

A wonderful hotel made so by the excellent staff, Aggie, dimi, Dora and stelios. They just could not do enough for us. The cleaners and the chef also made our stay special. I have visited many different places over the years but this has to be the best holiday ever. We will be re-visiting next year without a doubt. Well done to hotel 28!!!!!!!!!!
