“Fantastic Hotel”

Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay on Santorini. Family owned and run hotel who were the most gracious, friendly and helpful hosts you could ask for. They organised hire cars for us, tours and the father took groups of guests out to traditional Greek dinners, sunset dinners etc. Rooms are spotless, the pool area is great, lovely breakfasts in the morning by the pool. The kids and I didn't want to leave the place. Wouldn't recommend anywhere else to stay on Santorini.

We stayed at the hotel in June this year. The hotel is lovely and nice little oasis set back from the road a few minutes walk to the main strip of restaurants. The Hotel is very clean through out and all the staff and owners are really nice people and so friendly. There was never any problem to get loungers around the pool and a nice mix of sun and plenty of shade. I can't really think of any faults of the hotel for the price range that its in and if we visited Santorini again I wouldn't stay anywhere else. I also had an accident on a boat whilst there and they kindly drove me to the Hospital and then to the pharmacy afterwards.

Thanks to Athina and Athina for the great bar service and their lovely company!

This must be the friendliest hotel we have visited. The owners were lovely and very helpful. When you arrive you are greeted by one of their dogs (both of them are strays that they have rescued) and especially if you have children that helps to break the ice. They organised all of our trips and excursions and they were all really good and reasonably priced. When we did our sailing and swimming trip the hotel even provided us with spare towels. When we arrived at the island we immediately hired and car and drove to the hotel - don't do that! The hotel will pick you up from the port or airport and deliver you back again. You can easily hire a car or moped from several places close to the hotel (like 30 sec walk). The rooms were all a good size and very clean. Each one has a balcony and they feel very relaxing after a long day at the beach, which is only a 2 min walk from the hotel. Kamari beach must be one of the best we went to. Lots of shops, lots of restaurants and bars, and a really nice beach to relax on. The pool is also great, a haven from the hustle and bustle. There is a pool bar and the attendant is also very friendly and nice. Everyone in this hotel seemed to be having a lot of fun.

After having stayed at Hotel Matina three times in 2009, 2011 and 2013 I felt it was time to put in a review. The hotel is very well maintained, very clean and very friendly to its guests. The location is superb, being within walking distance to Kamari Beach, with its restaurants, bars and shops. Fira is accessible from the bus stop, only a few hundred meters down the road. The pool is great, especially for younger children, as it is not too deep. The pool area is very attractive, and supported by a pool bar serviced by some of the friendliest staff I have ever encountered in a hotel. The rooms are nice and clean, and the beds are really comfortable. The breakfast buffet is good, although some might find it a bit too simple. The owner goes out of his way to make sure you enjoy your stay, and is truly a great host. This hotel is both suited for couples and families.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms do not have balconies. Make sure to request this, as it makes it easier to dry wet...

My mum and dad booked hotel matina for their stay during my wedding.
The staff where fantastic, nothing was too much trouble - they even let us use their ironing room to iron my dress.
On the day of the wedding I left from hotel Matina rather than the hotel we where staying in, They decorated all the hotel for me with chiffon bows and flowers, it was beautiful.
The hotel itself is immaculate, with a large pool and a pool bar. The location is perfect, just a two minute walk to the beach and main strip.
I am sure we will be returning to Santorini and Hotel Matina for many years to come, thank you to everyone at this wonderful hotel for making our stay here so special and giving us wedding memories that will last a life time..... we hope to see you soon!!!

The hotel is in the perfect location, with a 10 minute transfer from the airport, 5 minute walk to the beach and 15 minutes on the local bus (1.60) to Fira. The pool is excellent, and the whole hotel is spotlessly clean. There is a lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the family (and dogs) are all very welcoming. It was my birthday while there and a bottle of wine and two glasses was left on a tray in my room on the day! A lovely touch. If you are feeling up to it take a walk up to Ancient Thira via the mountain opposite the hotel - we got to the top in 35 minutes but you will need to go early before it is too hot!

A small improvement that could be made to the hotel is to have shower cubicles put into the bathrooms as the showers are small and the curtain can make it a bit tricky. However, this wouldn't stop me going back for another lovely, relaxed week in the sun.

The hotel Matina is a very clean hotel with an excellent hospitality. We liked our stay in this familyhotel. Year after year we come back, especially because of the owner and his family. They are really very friendly. In hotel Matina it's always as good as ever. It's a beautiful setting with an amazing swimmingpool and it is very good situated to see all the remarkable places.
Everytime when our plane is landing on the island, it feels like coming home.
A perfect place for beachlovers, combined with history and geology of the island.
Kalliste! The most beautiful!
