I have been in this hotel 4 days now and i have 3 more days to relax. Its very beautiful here and I am glad I chose this place. They have a nice a relaxing atmosphere and a big pool. The family who is running the hotel is very friendly and they helped me to reach the hotel when I was coming from Mykonos.

Yesterday, Ms.Matina had prepared her home made cakes and marmalades for our breakfast and they were delicious :)

I recommend this hotel to everybody!!!!

I stayed in this hotel last week for 10 days and I had a great holiday. It is run by a lovely family who try to make your holiday an unforgettable one ( they succeded it, for us :) ).The rooms are very clean and comfortable, the breakfast is rich. It is very near to the beach and to the shops and the restaurants. Because of the relaxing atmoshphere and the friendliness of the staff, we really enjoyed this trip. I would recommend this hotel to all the couples and the families.

We stayed at Hotel Matina the first week of September. It has been a great holiday, thank to the hotel as well.

Hotel Matina is not right on the beach, but only 5 minutes away, and the way is full of restaurant and shops, included a supermarket where you can buy water and other things you could need.
The location is very quiet, and there is no noise at all.

The rooms are small and essential, but very clean, and the bed is really comfortable. The only thing is that the air conditioned doesn’t work if you are not in the room and this can be annoying in the warmest months of the year (in September is not a big issue because it’s not so hot anymore).

The pool is very nice and the pool bar serves some food during the day.

The staff is nice and helpful, over all the owner’s family.
The girl taking care of buffet breakfast is much less friendly, but the whole breakfast is a problem: it is poor and boring, after one week going down for breakfast is no more a pleasure. The Greek yogurt is very good, but the rest is not: always the same bread, always the same cakes, almost no cheese and meats, not a lot of fruits. I really have to say that if the breakfast would be better, this hotel would deserve 5 points.

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in May. Our first time in Santorini, and couldnt have found a better hotel. Right in centre of Kamari beach, with heaps of restaurants within 100 metres, but our favourite was the one next door run by a nice gentleman and his son, 10 metres down on road to the beach on the left.. The family at the hotel could not have been more friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was one of the best on our 2 month tour. Great swimming pool. The bus service to Santorini up the hill, was right outside the hotel. Was not that impressed with santorini itself, mainly because each day was full of loud tourists from the cruise ships, that seemed always to be parked in the harbour. Was much more pleasant and quiet down at Kamari Beach.

Have just returned from a weeks stay in Santorini. We spent 6 nights at Hotel Matina in Kamari and had a really pleasant stay!
This was our 2nd visit to Kamari (last year we stayed at the more expensive Hotel Hermes). We booked Hotel Matina based on the reviews on this site and we were not dissapointed.

Price: We wanted a cheaper holiday this year and the prices given by Hotel Matina were a real bargain and included breakfast.

Location: Couldn't get a better location as 5 mins walk to the beach but in a quiet side street.

Room: The room was one of the cleanest I have ever experienced (even including 5 star accomodation I have stayed in). It was cleaned daily to an exceptional standard and this is something that is reflected around the hotel as everywhere was immaculate. The room we had (No. 37) was very tiny and my only regret was not asking of there was a larger room available. However. for the price we wouldn't expect a large apartment. The air con was effective (if a little noisy).

Hotel: Again lovely lounge area and breakfast terrace. Clean, bright and comfortable. The pool side had comfortable loungers and shade if required. The pool side bar was handy and served your basic toasties and salads which were great. Although sometimes the music played was a bit too loud (rocky). Maybe if they had a few more 'chill-out' CDs, this would have been better. The family obviously take great pride in the gardens and potted plants around the hotel as these were beautiful.

Service: The family that own the hotel couldn't have been nicer. It has a lovely family feel to the place and even the bar and breakfast staff (Mia and Nicky?) were really friendly. I can see why the hotel is so highly rated for this.

Around Kamari: We had a few lovely meals worth mentioning. If you walk right to the far end of the beach promenade (facing the beach and walking left), there is a lovely place called something beginning with 'A' (Armeni??). We visited here last year and again had an enjoyable Souvlaki, Mousakka etc. Also has great pizza and pasta at Cafe Classico (halfway). One to avoid is 'Irinis' which is right at the other end (right). This was totally overpriced and quality was poor (e.g. Atlantis wine was 25 euros where as most places this was between 15 and 18 euros a bottle).

All in all I would recommend Hotel Matina if you are on a budget and appreciate the homely atmosphere of a great, clean family run hotel!

We are a family of four (two teenage boys) from Ireland and really landed on our feet by staying at this fine hotel. It is small and doesn't have a restaurant but is very central, clean, a nice pool and bar and very, very informed and helpful staff. The views are terrific and being a little way in from the street, the traffic isn't heard. Good value for money, relaxing and pleasant!
