“Mediterranean Beach Kamari, the place to be”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2013

We spent 2 weeks at the Mediterranean Beach in Kamari. This hotel is a few minutes away from all famous Santorini places (Fira, Oia, Akrotiri,...). The room was very comfortable and clean, with a very pleasant little private terrace. The breakfast offers a very large choice of everything you need for breakfast, as well as the choice for lunch or dinner. All the staff is helpfull and very friendly. The proximity of the airport was not a concern at the period we were there (end of September) but to be considered in July or in August. The hotel provides a "pool towels" service which is highly appreciated when travelling by plane (weight...). To conclude: a very good experience, we recommend Mediterranean Beach.

Room Tip: Rooms facing swimming pool (and sea) are very pleasant and sunny

We have just returned from 10 days at this hotel and we both feel as if we now need the holiday we paid for to get over the disappointment of this supposedly 5/4 star hotel.
We are not fussy people and quite happy to go with the flow, but if this review stops someone else from booking a holiday at this place or the management read this and get their act together then it will have been worth while.
The food was OK nothing special but edible, helps if you like rabbit as we had it 3 times, it was the hunting for cutlery, salt and pepper pots ( note for staff, the salt is the one with one hole) and cups. It did get beyond a joke after a few meals. You could guarantee at least one of the hot plate dishes would be empty which again was annoying especially at breakfast time.
The room we were given initially was little more than a cell being passed off as a bungalow complete with cracked wash basin and an old shower.
We were moved to a recently upgraded room, which was fine unless you require tea making and a safe as non are provided at this hotel. The receptionist bless her brought us a kettle from home.
Now there is a clue in the term "all inclusive" not at this hotel, red or white wine (house) beer, ouzo, brandy, soft drinks, tea and coffee between 10am and 10pm. The restaurant last sitting was at 9.30pm so it made it impossible to have a late meal and then a couple of drinks after your meal without paying once again for your drinks.
The beers served where about a 1/3 of a pint (poured with a large head to reduce guests suffering from wind, as our bar man explained) after 10pm this cost 4 euros (down the road you could buy a pint for 3 euros)
The brandy is hard to describe so I will not bother, the wine was as you would expect rough. The ouzo was fine but there is only so much of that you can drink. No vodka, gin or rum etc unless we wanted to pay.
The soft drinks were not that much better though the coffee we made with the loaned kettle was really good.
The entertainment was watching the staff trying to out smart the dogs and cats roaming the hotel restaurant and bars (it was not fair on the staff they did not stand a chance), there was a large TV on the bar but when asked we were told it was turned off at the end of August?
Around the pool was fine, they had a really nice pool bar, unfortunately it was never staffed, consequently we got told off for coming to the one and only bar wet?
The beach was of volcanic ash or so the brochure stated personally, from the amount cigarette butts lay about I think it was a Marlboro eruption that occurred the week before we arrived.
The spa and fitness centre were in the hotel next door and not really worth mentioning. The facilities for children stretched to a broken Wendy house, slide on the beach.
And now the positives, the weather was brilliant apart from the day it rained and we arrived home safely.

Room Tip: If you must go then get a sea view room

This is a review for Mediterranean Beach Hotel in Monolithos, Santorini.

We have had a beautiful holiday here in Santorini. The hotel is only a few minutes away from the airport and has a bus stop next to it from which getting to Kamari and Fira is as easy as checking what time the bus arrives. The hotel is beautiful with its white bungalows covered in bright bougainvillea. The area around the bar/lounge was always cool with music playing in the background. It is fairly quiet but with friendly staff at the ready to help with drinks, food, or anything else. The bar staff (Costas and Ilias) are very friendly and were always there with a smile. The dining was excellent with fresh fruits, varied lunch and dinner menus.

If I had to give a suggestion I would remove the syrupy "cola" and "lemonade" from tap and provide the real thing for all-inclusive customers. Also, €6 for a rum and coke is a bit expensive. There is also some confusion among the bar and reception about what is actually available as snacks for all-inclusive customers. Doesn't cost much but this type of thing could please customers and make them return.

All in all, I'm glad I chose this place for our first trip to Santorini. Getting to different places was painless (considering we don't drive). The weather was great, the people were great, and the island had a lot to offer for people with different interests. I especially enjoyed the cliff-side buildings and views of the Caldera, the handmade items by the monks and nuns, and the donkey-ride up to the top of the cliff in Oia. We might do this again some day.

We were a couple on our first vacation without kids. We are middleaged and we needed a nice place to stay with plenty of peace and quiet.
Hotel is nice, clean and with helpful personnel. I didn´t count with hotel being so close to the airport which is a bit of a downside.
If you don´t want to do anything on your vacation this is a place for you, coz Kamari village is a good 20-30 minutes walk down the road where there is no sidewalk.
The rooms are very different at the hotel, so you should go with the room in one of the small buildings.
The biggest problem for me was that the sound insulation between the rooms was so poor that you could hear every chair that was pulled in the room above you. The doors to the room are very thin, which means you can hear everything that is going on in the hallway. We stayed in the main building. So if you are not a heavy sleeper then you should choose a different hotel.
I would like to say that the hotel has a very nice standard, it´s clean and well kept.
It is right on the beach where there is not so many people, and there is a great pool and bar.
All in all a good choice.

Room Tip: The small separate buildings and the sea view.

A beautiful hotel set in an excellent location. The rooms are clean, well equipped and with stunning views. No task was too great for the reception staff (the two Vicky's are excellent), bar staff are friendly, attentive and happy to help. The buffet offers excellent variety of food, including local cuisine. Table service and restaurant staff were efficient and not too intrusive. definitely recommend exploring the island for yourself on a quad bike. We highly recommend this hotel and hope to return one day.

Secret tip- ask Vicky about a sunset dinner in Oia!
