The ruins and the views from the top of the mountain were incredible. We started our trek up at 8am in order to arrive early, and by about 9:30-10 it was sweltering. We were there during a heatwave (even the locals agreed that it was hot!) so we didn't get to experience this attractions fully, as we gave up exploring the ruins at the very top of the mountain after about 15 minutes. There is a guy who opens a little kiosk at around 10am who served cold drinks at VERY reasonable prices - he was a lifesaver as we had drunk all our water! On the way down, we took the footpath. DO NOT MISS IT!! We stopped at the church halfway down and went into the cave to splash ourselves with the cool and clear water that pools from a natural spring. We even had a tiny sip - it tasted fine! There was an abundance of lizards running around to watch and we relaxed in the shade for awhile before climbing the rest of the way down the footpath. It comes out randomly in a parking lot off to the right (looking up) of the road. It is worthwhile to search for it!
