e walked up from Perissa, leaving at 7.10am so that we could ascend the path before the sun rose. The path is ok and has lots of loose rock on it. Sturdy shoes or sandals are a must but flip flops would not be suitable. My husband has an issue with heights but he coped with the climb.
The site opens at 8am (2 euro entrance fee) and the lady is very helpful.
The ruins are wonderful to see and the views are breathtaking. I would have prefered to have had some better paths and rails in places for safety reasons (ie down by the cult area over looking Perissa), hence the reason for the very good rating.
Some have complained about the lack of signage but it is about par with some English Heritage sites.
We got around the site in about an hour which left 45 minutes to get back down to Perissa in time for the end of breakfast at our hotel.
A thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours, first thing in the morning.
