Visited recently and found this to be a nice, clean hotel. Food was adequate although the restaurant had more of a canteen feel than a restaurant. Rooms vary drastically and it seems to be luck of the draw which you get. I travelled with a singles company and I was extremely lucky as I was allocated what I think they describe as a junior suite, but some of our party had very small rooms, some with no balcony, and some unlucky people who were given rooms right by the pool bar.

Room Tip: I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with walking difficulties or anyone with children who nee...

My husband and I checked into this hotel during our greek island hopping adventure, when we arrived our room was filthy and we were greeted by a loud large group of "Thomas Cook" set holiday makers...The only other alternative room the hotel could offer us was filthy also and when you had a shower you could smell the sewage coming up through the drains, the two ladies on reception were arrogant and rude and did not apologise once. The whole hotel was filthy the pool cloudy and certainly not how it is described on booking.com..oh and if you want a seat at the pool best be prepared to get up at 6 am and put your towel on one of the beds! I would not stay here again if someone paid me, utterly disgusted

Three attempts at getting a room that was clean. Shower to alter between hot and cold. Shower would over fill and sewer smell rose in bathroom. Package hotel with Thomson cook that provided huge groups of noisy holiday makers. Every sun lounger was allocated with a towel before 8am so there was no ability to sit by the pool each day. Staff makes no attempt outside of providing a third bedroom option. Staff made no attempt in addressing the sun lounger issue, only response was to use the beach.

A very good hotel, comfortable beds and very clean. The food was delicious - plentiful with a good choice of dishes. Coffee at breakfast particularly good. My room was cleaned properly every day. The room was spacious with a settee, fridge and safe. The hotel is near the beach. Staff courteous and helpful. I would definitely go back to this hotel.

Room Tip: My room was number 317. It had a spacious balcony and was quiet when I was there.

I never give negative reviews, but I can't let this hotel slide.

The hotel was designed poorly and the rooms are very inconvenient and uncomfortable. I tried to cancel my reservation and go next door where I had looked at a room and liked it very much, but unfortunately my reservation was non-refundable. The queen beds are 2 single mattresses pushed up together. The water temperature fluctuates from scalding to freezing. There are not enough tables and chairs to accommodate the guests in pre-season. Some of my family went to the spa and said it was overcrowded with screaming children. There are not enough chairs at the pool for everyone, so if you do not claim one early, you are out of luck. The wifi goes in and out (mostly out).

The worst part... Our room was closer to the beach on the main floor. The hallway from the beach and main bar goes right past our room and we could hear everything in the hallway. The bar closes at 1:30AM.

The beach in front of the hotel is very cool, but the hotel doesn't keep their portion of the beach clean. There were no servers on our beach so we brought our own drinks. The restaurant is not very good and the service is very poor.

If you are planning a trip to Santorini and would like to stay on the black beach, stay next door. Part of our group stayed here and the staff was very nice and friendly. Their pool overlooks the beach, and their rooms are much more comfortable.

Room Tip: Stay at the neighboring hotel

Dear Nickstokes,

Thank you for taking the time to reach out and share your valuable feedback about Afroditi Venus Beach Hotel and Spa on TripAdvisor. It is because of the customers like you we have a unique opportunity to identify areas of improvement and provide even better service to our beloved guests.

First of all, allow us to apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations and impacted your holiday. Our property is uniquely designed for additional privacy and space. The hotel consists of several semi-independent blocks complemented with four pools, several sitting areas, gardens and sun decks throughout. Unfortunately, very limited number of rooms is located near the general vicinity of the common hallway leading to the beach area, and as such, some level of noise is unavoidable. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. We also wanted to point out that neighboring with the hall rooms located in the building that is separated from the bar area by outdoor pool and two large conference halls, and are not at all impacted by the possible noise from the bar.

We would also like to take this opportunity to address your comment related to the insufficient number of tables, chairs and sun-beds. Our hotel has multiple areas equipped by outdoor furniture for our guests’ enjoyment. In addition to tables and sun-beds around the large main pool, we have three smaller pools that offer supplemental lounging areas as well as few elevated platforms with sun-beds through the premises. We deeply regret that you found our facilities insufficient.

As to the spa, we do offer spacious massage rooms, indoor sauna and Jacuzzi, sun-lounger area, private outdoor heated pool surrounded by peaceful garden and other spa facilities that entice guests to relax in the hands of highly trained therapists. The facility is available for all our valued guests including the little ones; and it is regretful to us that your family members found the children to be disturbing. We are sure that have this matter been brought to our attention, it would have been resolved in the most amicable manner.

Lastly, a few words about the beach area; we are happy to hear that you enjoyed beautiful black beach of Kamari. The beach area is cleaned by our personnel throughout the day; in addition, Maria, one of our staff members who received many positive comments from other guests, is normally present to ensure that customers are well attended to and comfortable. We apologize if that was not the case during your stay; perhaps you caught us on an off day.

We strive to do one thing – create outstanding vacation experience and positive atmosphere for all our guests and will pay special attention to the areas identified by your review. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back at the Afroditi Venus Beach Hotel and Spa on another occasion.

Sincerely, Afroditi Venus Hotel Team.

We booked with Thomas Cook for a 2 week stay for our wedding, we paid for an upgrade for a larger room, the room we had was spacious but got a couple of bruises from walking past the bottom of the bed! The room was very clean and the cleaner was really friendly and even put flowers in our room after our wedding! The grounds were kept nice and all the staff are very nice and helpful. There are 2 computers in the reception which are free to use and the hotel also has wifi. The pool area is lovely with attentive staff, would stay here again and eat at the hotels restaurant on the sea front

We travelled to Santorini with Thomas Cook for a family wedding. Firstly it's worth mentioning that the people working in the hotel and Kamari resort are wonderfully polite and friendly, always with a cheery hello and a smile. We stayed B&B for 7 nights and dined out every evening. The breakfast was fine for me, but others found it limited in choice. I ate a plate of streaky bacon, egg, tomato, cheese and salami each morning with toast and coffee, with the odd banana to go, so no complaints here... Restaurant on the beach front in front of the hotel gives guests 20% discount, good food and excellent service plus the discount really adds up if you go two or three times. Free Wifi in the rooms and around the pool, excellent maid service, clean and tidy bedrooms and bathrooms (shower only) decent sized pool although not huge and 2 mins walk from the pool to the beach. Supermarkets and bars/restaurants a few mins walk away, porters/male staff help with luggage to and from the room (I gave a couple of euro tip for their service). All in all an excellent stay. Tip, go to the greek dancing night (monday)in the taverna next door, great food, great atmosphere and smash some plates.....

Room Tip: higher floor pool view, but remember there are no lifts.
