Just got back from a weel at the Tamarix, what a lovely hotel indeed. Everything was just right. We got room 109 which was 3 mtrs from the pool and was ideal for us. Very few families at the hotel mainly couples of mixed age range.
Well worthwhile, would reccomend this hotel to any couple that just want a quite week away, however whilst the hotel is quite the beach is only 100mtrs away and eating places are only 10 mtrs away,
All in all a very pleasent stay and would most certainly go back theres even free WiFi.
The only negative is that the A/C was a bit 'Tame' and took a while to bring the room down to the required temp.

Hidden behind a clean and modern facade acessed from a typical narrow Greek road, the hotel opens up into a delightfully small but high quality hotel. All rooms are based on a suite and built over two stories. Our suite was huge and unexpected when comparing it to our previous experience of Greek accommodation. The rooms all look out over the pool (shallow - no deep end) and the sound travels from the bar when it gets busy. the restaurant was excellent when we were staying but I suspect that during school holidays it might struggle to cope with larger numbers. The staff were superb throughout. If eating out, as is to be expected, the seafront restaurants are premium cost and better value will be found just off the seafront. The island is small and can be easily driven around in under a day. There is an excellent car hire facility immediately next door to the hotel, priced very competitively. The village of Oia is pristine and perfect to watch the sunset over the Caldera but expensive for shopping. If not driving expect to pay about 20 euros from Kamari to Thira.

We have just spent a fantastic 2 weeks totally relaxed at the Tamarix. Before arrival we contacted the owners and requested an upstairs suite, we were not dissappointed because on arrival we were allocated upstairs and also received a free upgrade to a far superior suite than we booked. The facilities available could not be faulted and the members of staff could not do enough for you. Situated at one end of the Kamari beach and within walking disatnce of the seafronts numerous restaurants.
The first week for us was more relaxing than the second due to the arrival of people who did the usual trick of reserving sunbeds with towels although they were not being used for a considerable amout of time! Fortunately due to our upgrade we had the luxury of retreating to our private sun terrace and outdoor jacuzzi.

Room Tip: We were allocated Room 207 which had a balcony with a great view of the whole pool area.

From the moment the six of us arrived (three couples), we started to relax, in fact you can't help but take it easy in the tranquil surroundings of the Tamarix. The service is excellent, the rooms immaculately clean and the overall atmosphere is that nothing is too much trouble.
We were in rooms 208, 209 and 211, all located near to each other and each one slightly different, 209 & 211 had their own private jacuzzi.. Harah and Dimitri were both fantastic bar staff and prepared to go that extra mile to help you.

I stayed at the Tamarix del Mar with 2 teenage boys from July 3-7 2011. Hotel is fantastic! Staff could not be more helpful or accommodating - facility is immaculate and very relaxing.

From the minute we arrived and were greeted with a welcome cocktail until we were granted a late check out on our departure. Things could not have been more lovely.

Hotel is intimate - 25 accommodations. Pool has great jazz music playing - very quiet and relaxing. Rooms are well appointed and beautifully clean. (okay so the sheets aren't to my preference - sun dried and crispy....)

The hotel is right in the heart of things near the beach and restaurants but feels far away and peaceful.

I highly recommend the property!

Wow, the Tamarix really was special from start to finish. We booked it last year as we got married on the 18th June and wanted to stay somewhere special, and I can confirm it really was, and more. Unfortunately due to issues with the plane we were delayed and didn't arrive at the Tamarix until about 1.30am, however we were still welcomed with a smile and they showed us where breakfast was and what time it was served from 8am to 11.30am (which is really good if you have a late one the night before), they even carried our cases to the room. Once we got to our room we were really impressed with the size and the fact it had its very own living room, and a bathroom/wetroom with jacuzzi bath. The next day we went down to breakfast and were incredibly impressed with the wide array of food available. Over the two weeks we were there, the food was often changed, which is nice if you like to try various foods. There were sausages, bacon (not the traditional english, but nevertheless very tasty), scrambled eggs, fried eggs, omlette, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, ham, cheese, croissants, etc. Something for everyone. The day after we got married Xara (one of the lovely staff) brought us a chocolate crepe each, which was very sweet, but yummy. Once we had breakfast we relaxed round the pool which was really peaceful, however occasionally got quite busy as people tended to leave their towels on the sunbeds, through no fault of the hotel, in fact the hotel actually provided lovely towels at the bar to use, probably to prevent people claiming sunbeds. The bar was really good too, it was in the shade so was nice to escape the boiling hot sun every so often. Myself and my husband spent a few great nights chatting to Dimitris the barman, and enjoyed his lovely cocktails. He really made us feel welcome and we think he is a credit to the hotel. Also Meena the receptionist was wonderful, she really helped us organise various things, such as a coach to take our 40 guests to the Suites of the Gods on the day. One day she also advised us that as we were a honeymoon couple we could stay at their sister hotel Absolute Bliss for two nights. Of course we agreed but we have to admit we thought there would be a catch and we would have to pay extra. But nope, not at all, this is a hotel that really look after you and genuinely want to make you feel special. They even gave us a bottle of wine to take with us for the two nights. We did have to pack our suitecases again however because they advised they would upgrade us to a room with an outdoor jacuzzi on our return, so this wasn't a problem. The other hotel was lovely with a breathtaking view of the Caldera, but as it was in Imerovigli it was very quiet and two nights was just perfect for us. Once we got back we were moved to the new room, which was totally different to the previous and also had two floors and a roof terrace with a jacuzzi. The room was brillant, lots of room and we had a fab view of ancient Thira from the jacuzzi. The only thing the room was missing was a full length mirror so I could check my dress etc on the big day, but no problem was too much trouble and they delivered one from the shop next door to my room. Throughout our two weeks stay we were really made to feel welcome, and the staff even waved me off on the wedding day. I couldn't recommend this hotel enough and will most certainly be returning on a special wedding anniversary. Now were home we really miss our mornings at breakfast with Xara, our cocktails with Dimitris, and just generally seeing the friendly faces of Dimitra, Meena, and Georgia. Thank you so much for making our holiday, wedding and honeymoon, one we will never forget. Gemma and Rich x 209
