“Enjoyable stay”
Reviewed 9 July 2012

The hotel is just off the main strip in Kamari - just close enough to be convenient and just far enough away to be peaceful. The pool area is nice, although frequently it is impossible to get a bed due to Brits abroad approach of reserving sun beds hours before they are needed. We spent every day bar one on the beach so it didn't bother us at all.

At night they light candles around the pool and it looks really impressive. We were upgraded and had a duplex room which was impressive.

Tamarix del Mar is a beautiful hotel that is designed somewhat like a Greek village. Even if it is only 200 m from the beach it feels secluded and is a peaceful oasis.
We were here for a week and were very satisfied with our stay. The hotel and staff really fulfilled all our expectations.
The apartments are large and very nicely designed. All apartments face the pool area, but since it is a quiet and calm place this is only positive. It was so close to the sun beds that the door could be kept open.

Air Conditioning, Safe deposit in room and Wi-Fi is included in the price.
There is a small library where you can freely pick or exchange books.
The staff is efficient and friendly, and cleaning maids and janitor looked very "sporty" in their white clothes.
The cleaning was great and the premises were spotless every morning.
The outdoor pool area has more than enough sun beds, and is relaxed and quiet. It was possible to get free sun beds anytime during the day. The hotel supplies big bath towels from a chest by the pool bar. These can also be borrowed when going to the beach.
The Jacuzzi part of it was a nice alternative.
The guests seemed to be mostly British, with very few other nationalities. These were mostly couples and very few children.
The pool snack bar had an average menu and played mostly soft, relaxing, music on low volume (Thanks!), but was for some strange reason unmanned between 4PM - 7PM.
The Breakfast buffet had everything we could wish for, and more. Since it was open until 11.30 AM many guests popped in for a cup of coffee/tea, and a piece of cake, before lunch.

Small minuses:
The Wi-Fi router was placed in the pool bar, which is the most central spot. The signal was weak, though, and we had to sit out on our terrace to connect to the network.
(It worked perfectly by the pool, which saved a lot of roaming costs after connecting the mobile phone to the network.)
The TV had 857 (!!!) channels, which was annoying when trying to find one of the commonly known (I doubt the hotel has many guests that want the many hundred Persian or Arabic channels...).
The reading light by the bed was very faint, and the light on the terrace was only for decoration. It was hardly to any practical use.

This is the best 4 star hotel we have ever stayed at in the Mediterranean region. It truly deserves the rating "Excellent", and we really recommend anyone to stay here while in Kamari.

We had a lovely time at the tamarix which is situated in an excellent position for kamari with a number of restaurants on your doorstep.
The hotel was very peaceful during our stay !
Breakfast was sufficient with something you can eat although they could do with a new toaster as it took a long time and only 2 slices at a time !
Sophia the pool bar girl starts work at 12 til 4 and then again 8 - 12.
There is a great supermarket next door but one with everything you may need !
Rooms are spotless and clean ! We did have an issue with our air con ( room 201) where it was not really cold !
The sun does disappear around 6 out of the pool area but obviously still warm on your balcony !
The hotel was really nice but personally feel it lacked a little atmosphere ! Couldn't fault the staff and the location!

Favourite restaurants which I have also reviewed !
Mama Mia's
Prince
Amalthia
No name
Sky lounge
Cocktails at albatros, mango or navy who offer happy hours !

You must visit Oia this is the most beautiful place I have ever been to !
Thira is best for the sunset - go about 8pm for a meal in one of the roof top restaurants !
Best beach is perissa which you can catch the water taxi to off kamari beach for around 4 euros each way !

Santorini is a must for anyone who loves scenery and sunsets ! But not best for beach lovers !

We stayed here for the last 4 nights of our two week holiday in Santorini. We spent a week in Fira staying at Antonia Apartments (great value accomm) got married in the La Maltese (Beautiful hotel) stayed in Anastasia Apartments for our 3 day honeymoon (currently ranked 2nd best hotel in the world) then came here. Don't get me wrong nice hotel but customer service was nothing compared to the previous accommodations! As soon as we arrived all that was on their priority list was to pay for the room, they previously promised us an upgrade to a junior suite (by talking to others staying there they did this a lot) but we didn't get that on check in their reason was they had overbooked the rooms. Wasn't a major problem as we only paid for a standard room anyway but not a great start. At check out we asked about transfers to the airport as most hotels on the island provide free transfers to the airport but when asked they acted offended and said it will be 15 euros! jeeeezzz was only inquiring! Positive points were the swimming pool was nice, met a lovely British couple from Kent, breakfast was nice, rooms were spacious and clean. I think if i hadn't at stayed at impeccable accommodation beforehand maybe I would have rated it better?? I dont know. I booked this hotel through glowing reports on trip advisor...my HONEST opinion an average hotel with average customer service.

I picked the Tamarix due to its great reviews on Tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed. from start to finish it was wonderful. The rooms are enormous, as are the bathrooms. All the rooms are around the pool so we didn't even close our door when we were at the pool, just pulled the curtain at the door. We sat at sunbeds at our door and walked in and out all day. As it's a small hotel, 25 suites, there's nothing for children to do there so there aren't many kids around at all, which was perfect for us - peace and quiet for a fortnight.
The staff are all very nice and will do anything in their power to help you have a good time - thank you Sophia at the bar who always had a smile for us no matter how tired she was.
We normally don't go twice to the same place but if we come back to Santorini it will definitely be to the Tamarix.
Thank you all for making our holiday so special.

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Tamarix Del Mar and we have had a fantastic stay. We arrived and were offered a free drink while they checked us in.

The room was lovely and spacious and we overlookied the pool. The atmosphere was intimate, relaxed and very chilled out.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We got married while we were in Santorini and the staff helped us to make itinery sheets for the day, even providing ribbon to make the paperwork into scrolls. I had a small welcoming committee when I left the hotel on my wedding day with my father which made me feel very special. They even organised a champagne breakfast on the morning of the wedding which was one of the best meals I had out there.

I would highly recommend this hotel.

On the day we arrived at the Tamarix Del Mar we was met by very friendly staff and a welcome drink at the bar. We was immediately upgraded to a jacuzzi suite which was amazing but it didnt stop there, couple of days later we was upgraded once again to the Absolute Bliss hotel overlooking the caldera for 3 nights. It had stunning views and the staff were amazing. They really couldnt do enough. Once we arrived back to Tamarix they gave us the honeymoon suite which was ideal for getting ready for our big day. We would 100% recommend the Tamarix to anyone and would love to go back there in the future. Great value for money, very clean, lovely staff and couldnt be more perfect. Thank you very much!!!!!!!! Mr and Mrs Treagus.

Room Tip: Everyroom is excellent!!!!!!!
