We stayed here from the 1st July. We got married at Santo winery and needed a resort nearby that was suitable for all ages of our family. From the minute we stepped in the hotel until the minute we walked out the staff couldn't do enough for us. Their customer service was fantastic,.. polite, efficient and were always there if you needed anything. The hotel was clean and the food good.
We had to cancel where we were having our wedding reception as it wasn't suitable, so we spoke with the manageress to see if we could hold it there and we were told this wouldn't be a problem at all. This was with five days notice. We gave them rough menu ideas and we were presented with two choices and were informed we could change anything we wished. We hired Greek dancers for our wedding of which the staff joined in too!! They made the place look beautiful. As said on a previous review there were some surprises they did for us and I won't say either to ruin anybody else's surprise!! I must also add that when my stepdaughter was getting ready she accidentally snapped a false nail off, so I rang reception and Demi one of the receptionists had come to the room with some super glue she had bought from the shop next door!! Brilliant. The staff at Tamerix aren't just a wonderful team but more like a family unit. If you do decide to stay here then I can promise you you will not be disappointed.

We spent a week of pure joy on the magical island of Santorini which well exceeded our initial expectations in terms of both sights - the Caldera is absolutely breathtaking - and of the service received.

Tamarix del Mar staff really know what true hospitality means, so let's start with a big thank you to Demi, Georgina and George! The mere fact that we know their names says a lot, it is a first for us.

As soon as we arrived early in the morning, we were warmly invited to have breakfast while our maisonette was being prepared for us. We stayed in 211, which was very spacious and clean, beautifully decorated, split on two levels, with double beds on each, second floor leading to a private open air jacuzzi with a sea-view. Also, there was a mini-kitchen (as in all suites), fully appointed, as well as a living area with lots of comfy pillows, leading to a private terrace overlooking the pool area, complete with chairs, tables, umbrella and chaise-longues. There are big windows letting lots of sunshine to flood the room, but you can also get complete privacy as they all have traditional shutters. In the bathroom lots of fluffy towels, slippers and excellent bathrobes. Cleaning service was very discrete and respected our schedule.

The hotel complex was inspired by the traditional Santorinian villages, and the white & blue villas around the pool and bar area, wrapped in bougainvillaea, hibiscus and other mediterranean plants certainly looked the part.

There is free wireless everywhere, even if at times it is a bit slow.
Plenty of quality sun-beds around the pool and the large jacouzzi, clean towels and even caps available permanently for free. The bar is just three steps away from the pool and there you can get good drinks, tasty meals, as well as attentive but non-intrusive service from George, who also offered several of our coffees on the house.
Breakfast is served till 11:30, great to accommodate for late sleepers like us …
There is also a mini gym area, with sauna and another indoor pool, which we gladly used. Just ask the staff to turn on the heating in the sauna 30 mins in advance.

One of the highlights of our stay in Tamarix was being offered to stay for one night in another hotel (4*) on the Caldera side, in Imerovigli. We were taken to and from there by the Tamarix driver, also with wine and smiles from the lovely ladies Demi and Georgina who arranged the experience for us. And what an experience to be able to enjoy stunning Caldera views from the terrace of our suite on the cliffs, while sunbathing and enjoying again the outdoor jacuzzi.

When we returned to Tamarix, we were given another suite, 101, this time smaller - one level, similar style with the first level of the maisonette - also very pretty, but at the same different.

A word about the location: the place is just 3 minutes walk from Kamari beach and is surrounded by tavernas, markets and gift shops. It is also very close to the bus stop which takes you to Fira in 20 minutes, from where you can change the bus for any other destination on the island. By the way, the buses are excellent, new, comfortable, big, with air-conditioning and one way ticket costs 1.6EUR. A bargain. Car/ATV/bike rental shops all around the hotel also.

We would love to come back one day in Tamarix del Mar, it felt like a home away from home...

What a great hotel, fantastic truly boutique Tamarix. I cannot recommend it enough. Especially George! Great guy, nothing too much trouble, and the best host you could wish for on your holidays.

We booked for 11nights, and stayed for 10 at the tamarix. Then we were 'gifted' our last night at another hotel, called 'Ira' just north of Fira for our last night (more of that later)

Centrally located in Kamaris, next to to supermarket, bakery, restaurants & bars. But also quiet and hidden from view, a little oasis of a hotel. Each of the 25 suites complimented around a lovely pool. Immaculately clean throughout the whole hotel. The staff cannot do enough for you, from the welcome drink, to the fantastic service. Inc breakfast buffet severed until 11! It's excellent, the whole team have 1 ambition, to make you feel welcome & relaxed and your needs met.

Rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean have bathrobes, hair dryer, slippers enough plug sockets for charging phones, satellite tv & the Wifi is good too. Our room (106) was tucked in the corner, and felt lovely and private, enabling you to eat, sit, chill on balcony in peace, or access the pool really quickly if needed.

Sun beds are quality wooden ones, comfy and plentiful, no need to reserve, the hotel provides loads of towels you just help yourself foo, even caps if you need to shelter from sun.

Bar prices are very reasonable €2.50 wine & beer €5. Lunch taken one day was lovely, salad, burger & chips & taziki & pitta, was approx €15! Served on our balcony at no extra charge, by the lovely gorge :0)

Top tips.

Ask the hotel to book you a taxi €15 to santos wines, go around 6pm, order the wine flight (18 wines for €22.50 - great value!) and sip tasting wine on the terraces as you view the caldera side & fantastic sunset. Until 9pm (July) then back into town, santos wines will book you a cab back.

Only draw back, the hotel looks like it overbooks, and to compensate they offer occasionally, the chance to stay in another hotel on the caldera side of the island, whilst this seems like a good idea, we found it to only be 'ok'. Mainly due to the fact we'd been so well looked after at the lovely Tamarix it was always going to be a tough act to follow :0) We were taken to hotel 'Ira' situated 15 min walk north of fira centre.

The tamrix hotel, also gave us a bottle of wine, and a taxi to the new hotel, and even picked us up the following day to take us to the airport - which was a great swap, BUT, the new hotel is on caldera side and we had a tiny tiny room, amazin view but so small and dinghy compared to Tamarix, split level floor, with 5 open tread slippery stairs no hand rail, and lethal to be honest. Tiny bathroom and smelt of damp, NOT the Tamarix, fault I want to to be clear to say, but if were went back again, we'd prefer not to be moved to the new hotel, just. Tip !

We would gladly go back to santorini and I'd be gutted if we couldn't stay at the Tamarix, highly recommended.

From the moment we were picked up by the hotel car (transfer provided free of charge if booked directly) up until our departure, we were amazed by the non-intrusive, attentive service of the staff. George at the bar has surprised us with drinks on the house, and the ladies at the front desk were always very helpful.

If you book directly with Tamarix, you get a bottle of champagne or wine, and a nice fruit platter, which were also a delightful surprise.

The hotel is like a little oasis next to the mountain, and the suite we had was simply stunning. The room was elegantly decorated, very spacious, and we were on the second floor, with a balcony with a view over the pool.

The pebbly beach and many other bars and restaurants are a 2-min walk from the hotel.

We loved our stay here and would certainly recommend to friends. Would love to return here one day!

This is the 2nd time we have visited this hotel and loved it, despite the slight hiccup with been shown to the wrong room for the type we had paid...had to wait several hours to be sorted.

After this though it was in our opinion faultless.

Right down to the cleaner who was very respectful and adapted her visit to suit us.

The absolute best part was the care George showed, the service he gave was perfect and every evening my husband went over to the bar to get me a cocktail, which George then brought over so I could have it whilst getting ready for the evening ahead.

The romantic meal we had on our patio was very special, this was something new they were offering since our last visit and we were unsure about doing it but was sooooo glad we did. Don't want to say too much as to spoil it for others but again George was in charge of this and gave his absolutely amazing high standard of service.

We would return again and don't hesitate in recommending it to other couples.

We stayed at Tamarix Del Mar in late June which was a surprise 15th Wedding Anniversary for my good lady! I cannot add much more than has already been described by previous guests here on Tripadvisor. In short the hotel is wonderful, staff are fabulous, rooms are stunning, the setting superb and overlooks the high peak on which the ruins of Ancient Thira are located. We are in awe of Tamarix and were very sad to leave! A big thank you Demi, Georgi, George and the rest the team at the hotel and we will return soon.

Just a point to note though re the airport. Yes, it is small and very crowded especially on a Tuesday so you need to be prepared to expect delays and long queues. I just hope they don't expand the terminal as it will encourage a far greater number of people to flock to this beautiful island and potentially ruin the special ambiance Santorini has to offer.
