“Great hotel”
Reviewed 19 August 2009

Just returned from 2 weeks in Kamari and stayed at the Maria Preka. The room was spacious (we had a one bedroom apartment) and was cleaned to a high standard. There is some dust but that is to be expected.

The pool was clean and I would say the only problem is the lack of a pool side bar.

The staff at the Maria Preka are very friendly.

There are some great restaurants in Kamari, favourites of ours were the Family Taverna, Sea View and the No name restaurant where we had a great greek night (well worth a visit).

we stayed at Marie Preka studios in santorini the studios were brilliant, very clean and Marie and her daughter who run the studios are very helpful, they cannot do enough to help you.
The towels are changed every day so are the sheets, the studios are cleaned every day and the cleaner is very nice and cheerful.
The island is very beautiful and the people are so friendly, my son went to see the volcano i didnt go i went shopping in Fira the capital and stopped off for a coffee, they charged me 4.5 euros the price of a coke there was also 4 euros so be prepared to spend alot on food and drinks.
Overall i recommend the studios as you were made very welcome, and if you want a quiet holiday then this is the place for you, if you have children i wouldnt really reccomend Santorini as there isnt much for them to do.

Just returned from 2 weeks stay, rooms cleaned to a very high standard. Not sure what the previous reviewer expected, it is a volcanic Island and is windy at times. There is always dust. We have been to Kamari 7 times in the last 22 years. We did not have any complaints other than there was not a bar by the pool. If you wanted to buy any drinks or food you had to use the bar in their hotel just across the other side of the road.

Again mystified by the previous reviewer saying that the food was all bland greek food. For a start you are on a Greek Island and would expect Greek food, I did not find the food bland and tried a fair number of restaurants over the 2 weeks. Irini's the restaurant right next to the rock is wonderful, as is Lolos, the Family Restaurant, I can't spell the name but it has a blue sign with the men dancing on it. Took our son to Andreas taverna for his 17th birthday, it was wonderful and they made a fuss of him.

The Irish bar is very welcoming, and it helped that they had the Ashes on. There are more than 2 bars that offer Sky sports we found at least 5 in Kamari alone.

Definately recommend the outdoor cinema it is an experience. Still makes me jump when the film suddenly stops for an intermission. The bar is open throughout the film.

Stayed at the Maria Preka during the 1st week in July. On first impression the building is typical of a Greek apartment block and is well maintained. The pool is small but clean. Our room was on the 1st floor of the central block and overlooked the washing lines, but we did have a secluded balcony by way of compensation. Although the rooms were cleaned and towels changed daily the surfaces of some of the furniture weren't touched and, therefore had a sticky, dusty layer. I suppose it doesn't pay to inspect hotel rooms too closely wherever they are as you may not like what you find! The apartments were very well located and a short 3 minute stroll brought you to the wealth of taverners and bars facing the beach. The food was rather disappointing, however, all the tavernas serving the same rather bland greek fare. Our best meal was at the chinese just along from the apartment and we went back on our final night, so it must've been good. Maris and her husband were friendly and helpful and I would recommend you have a look at the Annasa apartments over the road as they own them too but they are much superior to the Maria Preka.

Would recommend these apartments to anyone, rooms cleaned daily sheets, towels etc every other day,no bar but lovely clean pool and surrounding area clean and tidy, good location short stroll to pebble beach where shops bars etc can be found,Kamari is a small resort but we liked it nevertheless.Bus station just round the corner from the hotel so travel to the rest of the island is easy,we went to Thira but was full of tourists coming off the cruise boats so very busy with everyone jostling for the best views.Ancient Thira is worth a visit but good shoes and water a must, there are taxis too,we didnt see any donkeys thank goodness but i believe they now have to be regulated .The Levante Beach hotel was the best priced we found same round of drinks more expensive every where else. For the sports fans only two bars have actual sky sports the Irish bar and the Love Boat, and finally calling all cat lovers please feed the cats in a disused cafe located between the El Greco and the Bella Napoli just off the beach front road two lovely peach torties have just had kittens and if you see any animals injured or in distress the Santorini Animal Welfare will help number is ---------- they are located in Messaria and will help.

We have just come back from Santorini after staying at this hotel. I have to say, although the room was very basic, the hotel on the whole was exceptionally clean and tidy. The staff were friendly, and helpful and the hotel poolside was clean. We just used it as a base, as we were out and about most of the day, so it suited our needs exactly. I wouldn't have any problem going there again.

This hotel/house was alright for us as we were only here a few days for w edding.
The 1st room that they put us in was awful!!! only one little window which had no light at all, in broad day light you had to have the light onto see. Anyway we asked the owners son if there was any possible way we could switch rooms, in all fairness they were lovely and accomodated us.
If you like a little luxury (im not talking 5 star treatment just purely an up to date room) then please go somewhere else, again if you are lloking for beach life go somewhere else, we didnt go to the beach once because its really rocky and do not look upto much, besides, the locals walk there dogs on there.....
Over this place is dead, no night life at all, just resturants.
Would never re visit.
