“Great hotel and great location in Kamari”
Reviewed 3 August 2009

We stayed in this great hotel during our stay in Santorini. We rented two rooms during our stay. Both rooms were lovely, well decorated, quite roomy, with large balconies and air conditioning. The hotel was just a short walk off the main Kamari beach strip, and to the bus stop which will take you to Fira. Two gorgeous pools to choose from, one larger for swimming and a smaller one to relax by. The moussaka for lunch was excellent! We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Santorini.

I travelled with my partner to the Hotel Hermes in Santorini for 2 weeks in June 2009. We thought the hotel was lovely and were really suprised and pleased to discover that our room had been newly renovated and had a particularly fantastic bathroom, which for a Greek hotel is unusual! It was huge with a beautiful domed blue ceiling in the style of the Greek churches and was not only freshly tiled but had a new bathroom suite which included a jacuzzi bath!

The only problem we experienced was that the bath had not been grouted to showering over it on our 1st day flooded the bathroom but from then on we just made sure we aimed the shower hose towards the curtain and not the wall!

The bedroom was really spacious and had 2 large single beds pushed together. My partner found them a little hard for his liking but I usually find that at home I wake up with a back ache and find my back clicks quite easily but with these beds I found had no trouble with it the whole time we were away.

We were disappointed to have a courtyard room with no view, however we were so pleased at the standard of the rom that we were more than happy to stay there as the rooms with better views had not been renovated. The aircon was free and very efficiant.

The entire hotel is very beautiful and kept at a very high standard. It is picturesque and clean throughout. The main pool is lovely, a great place for sun worshipers and did not get overcrowded. The smalled pool is the perfect chillout location as it is less busy and has cushioned sun-loungers beneath palm trees. It also has a button to press to turn the pool into a jacuzzi!I would reccomend that anyone with white or light coloured swimwear is cautious though as we found that the water (presumably the chlorine) dyed my partners white swimming shorts and the lining of my bikini an almost flurescent yellow!

The staff were all very friendly and helpful, quick to run over and offer to take your photo etc and very good with advice for exploring the island and gave us a few good restaurant reccommendations.

We were B&B only but were suprised at the high number of people who ate at the hotel every night, the restaurant seemed very popular and we appreciated that the staff never tried to hassle us into eating there. The bar was very pretty and right on the pool and we were regularly given free shots and crisps with our drinks. Drinks were a little more expensive than some places (3E for a bottle of beer in comparrison to 2.50E for a huge 500ml tankard of beer at some places on the beach) but were it not for the current bad exchange rates this would not have been unreasonable! It was certainly fine for a few drinks throughout the holiday. Make the most of the local wines as Santorini produces a lot of it and it is cheap and very lovely!

We attended a Greek Night at the hotel halfway through our stay which we thought was rather over priced but a good night all the same. It was a shame that we could find no Greek Nights being offered at restaurants in Kamari (possibly too early in the season still?) as we have loved them on previous holidays. The only other we found was through First Choice, our tour company, and that was E59 per person (currently over £50!) which was extortionate so we stayed well away!

The airport is no bother at all, although you can hear the planes coming in the noise lasts for no longer than 10seconds each time and the latest we heard one was at about 9pm so it certainly does not disturb your holiday and is wonderfully close for a short transfer.

We hired a quad bike for 2 days of our holiday and a car for one day. They were very good value (20E for 24hours and petrol only cost 5E a time) and gave us some great days out. We also went on several boat trips but found them rather expensive in comparrison to other Greek Islands, although we knew that Santorini was pricier so we cant really complain. The cheapest day-long boat trip we found was E25 per person and the taxi boat that takes you from Kamari Beach round the mountain to Perissa charges 4E per perosn each way.

All in all we had a fantastic holiday and would definitely reccommend the hotel Hermes.

We booked this hotel through our Holiday House via our travel agent. This was a very awesome B&B about 2 minutes from the beach in Kamari.

Located just a few blocks off the main beach this B&B was a nice little spot. The pool was great with lots of chairs located around the deck. The rooms were very clean and simple. Mini-Bar which is restocked daily. Not much to really say, it's location is great, lots of restaurants, and a nice pool area.

I stayed with a group of 8 friends at the beginning of August 2008. The hotel is great, very clean. Location is quite good for Kamari, 5 minutes walk. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool area is great, again very clean and not at all overcrowded. Very relaxing.

I was surprised that the food did not match the general standard of the hotel apart from the breakfast which was good.

Be aware that taxis are limited on the island and it is not possible to prebook. You could therefore be left dissappointed should you have plans made.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Hotel Hermes at Kamari Beach, Santorini. We really enjoyed our stay, our double room was nice and spacious with a good sized bathroom, desk and nice furnishings.

It was a 5 min walk to Kamari Beach where there is a nice selection of restaurants and shops, as well as a swimming beach.
The hotel provided a nice substanial breakfast and we also enjoyed the lunch and drinks menu. We found all the staff to be pleasant and helpful.

Nice swimming pool with plenty of sun loungers and trees for shade

We also organised a day tour through the hotel to the Caldera and Volcano, and found that this was a really enjoyable day trip.

The Hotel is okay for Greece. The room s are cleaned daily and fresh towels are provided on a daily basis. The hotel is situated very close to all the bars but far enough away that you don t feel your in the middle of it. There was no entertainment layed in at the hotel during the two week period we stayed.

The area is very quiet and would recomend going for a week as there not much to do. Renting a car is vital to see the island. If you do not get around the island you will be bored at this one resort.

The bar staff are very freindly and helpful.

The room i stayed in was average very plain and basic. The views from the balcony were of waste land, a tied up dog and a rusting old car.

The pool area and bar were three star. The rooms i would give a two star rating.

The Breakfast is not worth getting up for. It was cold and not much choice.

A gym is advertised but has not been built yet. I when asked the staff tried to change the subject or pretend they did not understand.

Overall i would say the hotel in two star.
