My boyfriend and I went to Santorini for 2 weeks this August. What a beautiful island! The Horizon Resort hotel in Kamari was great accommodation, a lovely 17-bedroom, family-run hotel with friendly staff and great facilities. The attention to detail at the hotel was second-to-none. Wine on arrival (nice touch!), lovely breakfasts and just such a clean and well-maintained hotel. From nosying at other hotels on the island whilst there, Horizon seemed to be the most pristine and pretty, with all the flowers and cactuses. I certainly wouldn't call it 2* so I'd ignore that rating and read the reviews of people who have been instead. The location I think was brilliant, it's a 10 minute stroll from Kamari beach and the main restaurants and bars which was great after a heavy meal to have a gentle walk back (and I hate walking!). in addition, walking to the front from Horizon takes you past lots of lovely restaurants that get overlooked if you don't happen to walk past! There are some stunning looking hotels on the beach front of kamari, however they are completely overlooked by everyone walking past and if people fancy a drink there, they could use your pool, making it very busy. Horizon is a very tranquil hotel, perfect for couples as there are no family rooms so no noisy kids around the pool. In the 2 weeks we were there, we had the pool to ourselves on many occasions!

Kamari itself is without a doubt the best area to stay in on the island. We visited everywhere pretty much whilst on holiday and I'm really glad we went with the recommendation of staying in kamari. it has by far the best restaurants and bars, one of the best beaches and isn't packed full of tourists (like Oia and Thira are!). They were great for a visit but once there I was relieved we weren't staying there! Restaurant recommendations would definitely include Almira (on the beach front at the end-best Moussaka we've ever had), Senor Zorba (a Mexican restaurant in Pygros-we needed two tables just to fit the food on- wow! you'd need a car to get to it though) and Al Fresco (located on the road between Horizon and the beach) did amazing pasta dishes. On the same road, Traffico Creperie did incredible savoury and sweet pancakes, a must for lunch or a dessert. Definitely head to Sky Lounge for cocktails on the main strip opposite the beach and try the martinis- amazing! Really cosmopolitan and classy feel to the whole island! Everything was of good quality from the food to the furniture to the table décor!

Whilst there, we would recommend to pay for a proper massage on the beach. Not cheap but the best one I've ever had! The guy seriously knows what he's doing. You can book them at White Bar. There is an outdoor cinema in kamari, a short stroll from Horizon Resort which was a cool, unique experience where we watched the latest films in English (with Greek subtitles) outside with a bottle of wine. Bare in mind that the sunset in Oia is no different to the sunset at every other part of that coastline. It is just well-marketed. It's extremely busy so if you want to go- go early to get a spot in a restaurant. Same applies in Thira. We saw just as beautiful sunset sat in Senor Zorba in Pygros. We hired a car for one day each week with Hermes Cars which we booked whilst there, really easy to do and we found that 2 days was enough as the island is pretty small. Get the water taxi from Kamari beach to Perissa beach for a bit of a change of scenery and go on a boat trip to the volcano and hot springs. Good fun but wear something you don't mind getting ruined as the mud ruined our clothes. Final recommendations is an evening at Santos Winery (we went after dinner in Pygros) as you can order samples of more wines than you could imagine for 1 Euro each and it's a beautiful location. The wine museum in Kamari also offers wine tasting and an information tour about wine production on the island for 7 Euros. Overall, an amazing holiday! Please go and enjoy!

Room Tip: I'd ask for a balcony room as you will then get both a pool and sea view

We had an absolutely fantastic, relaxing stay at this hotel and, to be honest, there's nothing I can add to the previous reviews. George and his Mum go out of their way to help in any way, from providing a local bottle of wine - delicious, to allowing us to stay in the room, for an extra couple of hours as we had a late flight. We would definitely stay again and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a comfortable, authentic hotel in a lovely, quite lively resort.

Room Tip: We stayed stayed in room 24 which is on the middle floor. The spacious balcony had a lovely colourfu...

There wasnt anything that we didn't like about Horizon, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we had a fabulous stay.

Our taxi dropped us off at this beautiful little resort with immaculate gardens and pool area and we were quickly met by lovely George who made our stay so pleasant. George was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble, his English was very good and he was full of helpful suggestions.

Our room was small, but also very cute and comfortable. We had a downstairs room, George offered us upstairs rooms but we would have had to change room locations a few times so we opted to remain downstairs. We ended up absolutely loving our room. We would frequently sit outside on our patio with a nice tables and chairs. The room had a safe, which was great to keep my expensive jewellery I didn't want to wear to the beach in, a bar fridge- Perfect for keeping cold water in and fruit and the bed was also super comfy- we slept so well. Room was very clean and always kept to a high standard.

Location was great, easy stroll to Kamari beach and Santorini isn't super hot so this wasnt an issue. If you did get warm on the walk you had a cool pool or beach waiting for you at either end.
If you are feeling super lazy on some days (like we were- Santorini does this too you!) George organised quad hire for us. It was so cheap to hire a quad for four days, we wish we'd had it for our whole week. Highly recommend hiring a quad, we were familiar with motorbikes but hadn't ridden a quad. We'd seen a lot of reviews saying they were dangerous and easily tipped, but we were just very careful, drove slowly on corners and always pulled over for the cars behind us. This allowed us to explore the whole island, we drove everywhere on our little quad and it opened up the whole island to us. Sometimes we would drive our quad down to Kamari for dinner to save the slow walk home. It was great.

Horizon had great pool facilities, we loved on our "days off" lazing around the pool. They had a big pool ring that I would float around on that was so relaxing. George also straight away asked us if we had beach towels to which we didn't, and he provided us with two beach towels to take away for our stay at no charge. This was so lovely!

Breakfast each morning was such a healthy start to the day. The Greek yogurt was so delicious, and we also had fruit and muesli. It was a simple breakfast but always plenty to eat with great variety.

Horizon was very close to the open air cinema which we visited twice, a great night out and we were so fortunate to be very closely located to this great place!

We would highly recommend this great resort! We have never left a holiday place giving the owners a hug!! They looked after us and made us feel so comfortable, we absolutely loved our stay here.

We have just returned from a week staying at the lovely Horizon Resort. We, and another couple, used the reviews from Trip Advisor to choose where we would stay and we couldn't have chosen better. The hotel itself is just slightly on the outskirts of Kamari - but only 10 min (max) walk to the centre of the resort and the beach - and in peaceful surroundings.

The rooms are quite small but more than adequate for a couple and each had a balcony with table and chairs (and even a short washing line with pegs!). The rooms and balcony themselves are tastefully (and not cheaply) furnished with a comfortable bed. There is a television also (however I can't comment as we never switched it on!). There were even bottles of shampoo and shower gel at our disposal. Towels and sheets were changed daily and the rooms also cleaned daily. A lovely touch was the bottle of wine left for us on arrival.

Breakfast is of the continental variety and the choice was excellent. The snack bar around the pool served drinks and snacks throughout the day, all freshly prepared by George. Poolside had comfortable sunbeds and lovely 'Caribbean' type umbrellas - no horrible plastic ones in sight! The pool itself was small but, as there weren't ever more than 6/7 people sunbathing around the pool, it was certainly sufficient for cooling off and a few lengths to wash away the cobwebs.

Kamari isn't a hugely touristy resort, not that many shops, but an abundance of restaraunts and cafes to keep you well fed for the duation of your stay - we never had a bad meal. Recommended restaraunts are: Spring, Almera (the best we found) and several others whose names I sadly forget! Plentiful bars too, often with live music to keep you entertained. We would also thoroughly recommend the trip to the volcano - a tiring day but well worth it if only to see the beautiful cliff top village of Oia.

All in all we and our friends had an amazing time and we plan to visit again - when we do we will definitely choose the Horizon Resort to stay in. Thanks to George and his mum for making us so welcome and comfortable. We all agree that 2 star isn't sufficient ratings for this accommodation and would suggest you don't let that put you off, it is worth much more!

Following positive reviews we stayed at the Horizon for a week in July. We were not disappointed. It is a lovely hotel. Great welcome from George, super room overlooking the pool and a complimentary bottle of wine in our room. Everywhere is spotless and well appointed. The continental breakfast is plentiful and more than adequate. The beach is approx 10 mins walk where there are loads of restaurants. Sun beds on the beach are attached to each restaurant and vary in price. We used the Beach Boutique section and paid 5euros per day for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella. They were quality. Great hotel and holiday.

we stayed at the horizon end of June. it was our last stop on our visit to several islands. Santorini is one of our favourite Islands and horizon Resort the best place to stay on Santorini. We have stayed at Horizon Resort for the last 4 years when we visit Santorini. It is a very good location for being a short walk to the main resort and beach. George and his mum make everyone so welcome. nothing is any trouble for them. The place is kept spotless. Snacks and drinks are available from the pool bar. Breakfast is buffet style with a good choice. the pool is kept so clean as is the area around the pool and enough sunbeds. George is willing to arrange anything from car and bike hire to trips and information about the resort and island. This is such a calm and relaxing place to stay to goes without saying we will be back again and again. Once again thanks george and see you next year.

Room Tip: most of the rooms overlook the pool.

Just returned from an 11 night stay at the Horizon in Santorini, and totally agree with all the positive feedback that this small lovely hotel is gathering. Very attractive from the outset with a beautiful garden area full of tropical palms surrounding a suprisingly large pool, spotlessly clean area with ample space and plenty of sunbeds all serviced by a bar run by the owner George.
The Hotel itself looks lovely and although set back a little from the "main drag" its about a 5/10 minute stroll to get there or the beach which we found perfect.
All in all we had a great relaxing time and having done more than our fair share of travelling over the years can absolutely say if you book to stay here you will not be disapointed.
Well done George and family.
