“AMAZING!”
Reviewed 9 August 2009

The Aegean View was absolutely fantastic! Having been slightly worried about a 3* plus hotel, we were really happy when we arrived to find a spotlessly clean, family run, quiet place with lovely rooms in a traditionally Greek style but with a modern edge. The room was cleaned every day, the the pool was lovely and clean as well. The family who run the hotel are lovely, and seem to do everything there! The pool bar food was great at lucnhtime too.
There is a steep hill up to the hotel, great for walking off all the fantastic food that you can sample in Kamari, but it was well worth the walk for the beautiful views of the Aegean that we had from our lovely balcony. I would dfeinatyely recommend this hotel, and the resort of Kamari whch was lovely! I can't wait to go back

My wife and I stayed here for one week for our honeymoon. The hotel was perfect.

It's clean, cosy and has a great swimming pool (with adequate space for everyone to relax on the very cosy sunbeds). The staff are friendly and polite. They really made us feel at home.

The hotel is nice and quite as it's situated up an incline away from the main stretch of hotels and restaurants. Never the less it's an easy walk to the beach and the centre (approx. 300 meters).

The room came with a small kitchen with all the utilities, tv and air conditioning. The room size was great. We booked a bed and breakfast package. The breakfast was nice and included eggs, bread, juice, tea and coffee, cereal, cheese, ham, fruit, yoghurt etc.

Next time we go to Santorini we will be staying at the Aegean View.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for a week in June and I really wish we had booked for two as it was a lovely stay! We were in room 522 which was a one bedroomed apartment and it was huge. We had a massive balcony which had a fab view over Kamari.

The room had great facilities - free air conditioning in the bedroom, extra pillows, a phone, a tv, a sofabed (if needed), a full sized bath with a hand held shower, microwave, cooking rings, plently of pans and glasses, a toasted sandwich maker, decent sized fridge freezer and it was cleaned daily with plently of fresh towels.

The pool area was lovely with comfortable sun beds, the family which runs it keeps it very tidy. In June the pool water was a bit chilly but once you got in it was very refreshing! As the Aegean View is set up a hill it can get quite windy - I personally saw this as a bonus as it made the heat quite bearable. We stayed bed and breakfast and the breakfast was very nice - I mainly got a bowl of peaches, bread with strawberry jam and orange juice. But it was really all you could eat if you liked! The pool bar served good snacks if you wanted to just have lunch by the pool and the barman was very friendly and a very hard worker - the bar area was always spotless!

Karmai itself is very nice - the Aegean View is at the bottom end of Karmai so you don't feel like you are on the end of the runway like i'd imagine some people at the other end feel. It's nice to see the planes coming into land though. There was a massive amount of choice of places to eat in Karmai - our fav was Alexanders and I had the best pizza ever in Navys bar. We went on the local bus to Thira which was a good day out but the restaurants are very expensive there. We also went on a tour of some local villages and Oia, the sunset was worth seeing and it is a pretty village (we saw two wedding parties while there) - it was surreal when people clapped and cheered after the sunset! This was my first visit to Santorini and I would love to go back, I would definitely stay here again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at the Agean View and only wished we had booked for two weeks not just the one. We both agree that we would definatley go back again. The hotel is situated up a slope tucked up against the hillside and the back drop is a steep rockface. The hotel looks over Kamari and has nice views of the sea. Our room was very spacious and air conditioned (at no extra charge). We also had clean towels provided every day when the room was cleaned. All parts of the hotel were kept neat, tidy and clean and the staff were all very nice and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. To complain about the hotel would be unfair as we had a wonderfull holiday. There are only a few things you could say that stopped it being perfect. The sun goes behind the hillside at about 5 in the evening so you lose the sun early. The poolside bar food menu was a bit limited but the food was fine. The spelling on the menu gave us a few laughs especially the "Club Sundwuich" . You can struggle to get a sun bed around the pool at times as the area is quite small and the towels get put out early but there are plenty down on the beach which is about a 10 minute walk down the hill.
Kamari has a large choice of restaurants and if anything you are spoilt for choice and everywhere we tried had excellent food.
The sun set cruise was a nice trip to go on and the sunset was breathtaking. We just wished we had visited Oia but will save that for next time we go to Santorini.
We wanted our holiday to be a break from work ,to go somewhere nice and to relax in nice surroundings with good food and wine and we got everything we asked for. Really enjoyed our stay.

Went to Aegean View and had a most fantastic time. The hotel is family run, and has the same barman all the time..hello Christos!! you get to know everyone really quick. We upgraded to a suite and what a fantastic room. The rooms look like villas and are massive inside, the only downside for both me and hubby was the shower, was way to small! We had a hot tub outside on our patio, this was heated by the sun, so the first 12 days we would go in it all day, but the last two days it was very windy, and this kept the tub from getting heated so did,nt use it! You lose the sun around 5oc at the poolside. The hotel is a 5 minute stroll into town, but most probably the only hotel not over looked! It is set just at the foot of Mount Thira. We hired a car for two days, this was long enough! The roads are really narrow and twisty! scary in some parts! We did go to Fira and Oia and some more little towns. The sunset in Fira is a must! Sit in a restaurant overlooking the sea, and watch the sunset! something you will remember for a long time. Please dont hesitate to go to this hotel! We will go back..

Hotel staff very friendly and accommodating, a family run hotel, they made you feel very welcome. Stayed in a studio with balcony overlooking Kamari and the aegean sea. Short walk from bars/restaurants/shops/beach, a very enjoyable stay and will definitely come back! For couples and families of all ages seeking a relaxing stay in a beautiful resort. Would recommend taking the bus to both Oia (sunset must not be missed) and Thira, very cheap bus fares from Kamari to Thira, there isn't a direct bus from Kamari to Oia, everywhere is reachable from Thira.

We stayed here for a week in June and it was probably the best apartment we have stayed at in Greece. We had booked a studio for 2 and it was huge!! It was very nicely decorated, had a seating area and free air con. There was a bath - v unusual for Greece and even though it was on a bed and breakfast basis, there were self catering facilities including a fridge, hob and microwave. We had a great view - I think all of the balconies would look down over the resort.

Breakfast was served next to the pool and was very good quality. The food served in the bar during the day was sufficent for snacks. The pool area did get quite crowded and at the height of the season, there may not be enough sun loungers. As the hotel is on a hill, there is no sun after about 5pm. it was also very windy on some days. The staff were very friendly and they booked us a taxi to take us back to the airport.

The hotel is up a hill and there are a number of steps around the property so may not be suitable for those with mobility problems but we quite liked having a 10 minute walk back at the end of the evening.

The guests were probably 60% Brits and the rest seemed to be German or Dutch.

We found Kamari to be a lovely resort with plenty of bars and restuarants to keep us going through the week (Cafe Classico served the best pasta I have every had!!) We did find the resort generally quite expensive - 5-7euro for a gin and tonic seemed the norm. The house wine was about 2.5-3 euro and was pleasant.

We did thr 'hop on' hop off bus to Fira ( we didnt hop) we could have also gone to Oia o the same ticket so it was good value at about 11euro each

Please PM if you have any questions
