Do not take the web photo`s as what you will get !!
after our booking for a Double superior room we were shown into a rather basic but acceptable studio complete with small kitchenette.
After 2 days we were offered an upgrade to a Junior Suite which was described to us by Kristina the hotel mananger as a beautiful room with large bed, living area and 2 bathrooms, this was because the room had become available during our stay and was offered to us as a bonus.
This room was disgusting.
One bathroom did not function at all and smelt badly.
the bed was 2 singles put together, we had left a double bed in other room !!!!! no kitchen facilities , an out of date portable tv on the opposite side of the room, dated decor and was musty smelling .
We complained and were told that no other rooms were available ....even though it was quite apparent we had changed rooms for the hotels benefit .
The following day we were offered another room and moved yet again.
This hotel is INCONSISTANT throughout. This hotel needs a re-fit to bring it into the current era !
The rooms are one thing but the ONLY place to get a drink is a hut next to the beach ( be careful...you need to circumnavigate through hotel grounds, pool , restaurant and beach to get there)
The towels offered are little more than scabby cloth`s which are in desperate need of replacement. The sunbeds on the beach (approx 40) only 16 have mattresses, they are made of wooden planks ... Kristina when asked said it was the fault of the wind that they hadnt enough to go round ....unbelievable !
The food is rubbish , the breakfast in particular .Especially the semi-hot mush offering.
The Spa is tatty , made from left over rooms ,un -luxurious ,mess.
In short this hotel cannot be labelled as described on the web-site, it is outdated and needs a considerable amount of investment asap
Other hotels in Kamari are of much better standard , we have visited the island many times and have had wonderful holidays here. The Bellonias Villas, Aqua Vatos and Kamari Beach Hotel are all fantastic alternatives far better than here.

Room Tip: Rooms in annex have not such a great view but are ok , junior suites are a joke ...dont bother room...

Although there were some difficulties getting the "executive suite" which we had booked and which ultimately resulted in submitting a complaint (for which were were eventually compensated) this surprisingly did not detract from a very pleasant stay. The biggest plus point was Athena and Christina (in that order) who managed to convey a genuine sense of engagement, humour and kindness.

The pool is great - big enough to actually have a decent swim. Probably could benefit from a bit of poolside management governing usual towels on sunbeds stuff and smoking and eating on poolside (but I guess that simply depends on who is there at the time).

The private beach is shingle but fine - probably doesn't have enough sun beds for the size of the hotel - we found this tends to cater for the overspill when all the poolside sunbeds were taken.

The walk into town is a leisurely 10 minutes via the shingle beach or 15 minutes by road. The town is essentially a strip of shops, bars and restaurants stretching along the sea front for at least a kilometre. You happen to be in Santorini but in reality you could be anywhere - constant harassment from front of house salesman trying to entice you into their restaurant - when will they learn that this is a turn off! The town does a small hinterland where there are more shops, supermarkets etc. The town is fine if you are happy with food of a varied nature - fish is very expensive (why?) and some of the typical greek dishes (e.g stifado) are frequently not served in a clay dish - seems to be a general equalisation of quality. The best restaurant we found was the very last one on the strip - 25 minute walk.

The hotel rooms vary according to their position and quality so make sure you know exactly what you are getting.

Breakfast buffet was very reasonable but we did not try the restaurant which is apparently good.

If you don't like aircraft noise do not stay there - the planes , although not frequent, are literally just above your heads - very only fools and horses. But as I said we did have a good time but won't be going back.

we arrived in santorini, very excited about our stay in thalassa seaside resorts. After seeing the website we thought we were in for a beautifully chilled out stay! how wrong were we!!!!

Kamari beach is a dump, you cannot walk on the beach unless you have shoes on. the town itself is O-K. nothing to write home about. it is about 20 mins taxi from the capital fira, and a good 35 mins from Oia (the most beautiful place in the world). Taxi to fira will cost u about 30 euros. i would imagine a taxi to oia would be double (i dont know as we rented a car due to the distance).

The hotel itself is dark and dingy. there is the deafening sound of aeroplanes flying over head ever 30 mins. there is a pool that has roughly 20 sun loungers. The hotel had 90 rooms. Since the beach is not an option the pool is where people hangout during the day. there should be more sun loungers. some people had to just lie on the floor space around the pool- this is not acceptable.

The room itself is NOT like what you expect from the website!!! it is dark and dingy. there was mould on the shower curtain and a dirty old bed spread on the bed. I did not get the impression it was very clean. The beds were actually very damp. we had a little balcony, but most of the balcony is taken over by the air- con machine which blows out hot air at you while you sit there. Not pleasant.

Staff at the hotel were not helpful. breakfast is a rat race, not enough cutelry, plates, or food for that matter. Unless you are once of the first 10 people to arrive, you will not get a satisfactory breakfast.

If you are on halfboard you have the option of a lunch or dinner incorporated in the price. We chose lunch. In fact we only had 2 lunches and no dinner there the whole stay. At checkout, there was a big argument launched on us because we hadnt said to the waiter after we had our lunch on our first day that we were half board. I had in fact said it to reception that we would be having lunch not dinner. On our first day we did not know that is was required to explain to the waiter what board we were on. Instead of just taking it off the bill (a simple €15) they brought the waiter who had served us out to reception and told us that this has to come out of his pocket if we do not pay for it. it was ridiculous. we just paid it to save ourselves the grief. It was VERY badly handled however.

all in all this hotel is not worth a trip. From start to finish is was unpleasant. We rented a car so we could get out of the place as much as possible. If we hadnt paid for the whole thing before we got there I definately would have switched hotels on arrival having seen the reception alone. Lessen learnt re booking hotels simply based on websites, next time I will get a recommendation.

Room Tip: i didnt have a good one so i do not know!

This is a place with great potential.
The hotel is very charming and very well managed. I was overwhelmed by the kindness of its manager and all the hotel employees. They are very helpful polite and will always have a big smile. Great job on the managerial side! I am impressed.
If you are looking for a great location and a good price hotel don't look further!
Some renovations in the rooms will not hurt but again the charm of the hotel is in it's simplicity.

I loved it and left a piece of me over-there.

We stayed one week in the Thalassa Seaside Resort Hotel and we had a great great holiday! The location is really excellent, for those like us that are looking for a hotel right on the beach. The beach is private, and the beds and sunumbrelas free of charge. One small negative point is that everyone is puting their towel apparently during the night or very early in the morning, so if you get up late you might not have a free bed on the beach. But people leave early from the beach, so they are plenty of free beds from 3-4 pm onwards. The rooms are clean, we were in a superior double room, so big enough to have space for everything. The hotel is in greek style design, all white with fourniture also in greek style, so the 4 stars are greek 4 stars as regards the room. But the service and the location are really 4 stars. The airport is quite close so you see the planes over you, but there are not that many. I would like to say a special thanks to all the staff, they are all so friendly, people in the reception and the ones in the bar and the restaurant. The village of Kamari is 200 meters from the hotel by the beach, but if you take the road behind the hotel it is around 10 minutes.
We really had a great time, one of my best holidays maybe and Santorini is a magic place, everyone have to see this once in their life. I would like to return one day and i would again chose this hotel. I recommend this hotel, you won't make a mistake by going there!

I would like to start my mentioning this is my first ever Trip Advisor comment, I have decided to leave this following a lovely week in Santorini & to put right a number of the more negative comments that concerned me prior to going.

I booked the holiday very last minute via Groupon, we had 6 nights full board for approximately £300 (I think this was an approx 60% saving) I was slightly concerned about going after reading so many negative comments. I like to travel 4/5 star & dont mind paying a little extra so had my reservations.

4 of us arrived (1 couple & 2 single friends) about 1pm on 19th July , the hotel is very close to the hotel so only took about 15 minutes by taxi.

As promised & as part of the Groupon ticket we received a fruit basket & drink on arrival although this was very basic. We were shown to our rooms & our 2 single friends (whose booking changed last minute as it should have been a couple) got a choice of room & were only 4 doors down.

The rooms were nice, they were clean & had everything you needed, we even had a dining table in ours & both had a fridge & sink/kitchenette area.
As part of our full board we were entitled to lunch immediately, beer, wine & soft drinks were in included.. Of which all were nice ( but local brands) I recommend the mlkshakes!!! The full board menu is limited but they did give us the choice to order from their main menu provide we were only having the odd meal. (3 meals a day from the menu can get dull)

The location/views are fantastic, the website almost doesn't do this hotel justice, the views are idilic & you can see out to the sea from the pool. The beach is pebbly though so i recommend aqua shoes which we didnt end up getting to the second to last day!!

As the airport is so close, planes are extremely low & very loud although you get a couple of early flights (6am ish) there aren't too many during the day. This was more funny then annoying although is something to consider....

All the staff are friendly & attentive although in typical Greek fashion are laid back so don't expect anything quickly. I would definitely go back to this hotel although perhaps would not consider doing so for the full price quoted on the website.

Santorini really is beautiful & this hotel definitely offers the same level of elegance & chic class....

We spent only 1 week in the Thalassa hotel in June 2012 where the time passed rapidly.. The location is very good: the only hotel in Kamari which has an own beach (for hotel guests only), ca. 200 meters from the pedestrian area, which is full of restaurants, bars etc..The capital city is only 15-20 minutes by bike or car.
It is worth booking the hotel with half-board, they serve very delicious dishes with wide selection, the breakfast is a reach buffet. The restaurant with a huge terrace looks to the sea, so you can have your meal in a breath-taking environment.
The staff was extremely friendly and professional in every department.
Special thanks for Apostolos who with his attitute and hospitality made our stay very comfortable and gave us very good tips how to discover the beautiful Santorini.
Once we will be back for sure..
