“Great Staff, Okay Location, Great rooms and pool area”

Overall a wonderful little hotel! The owner, Vassilys, was wonderful the whole time that we were there and was very helpful with everything. He gave great recommendations for dinners. We were there on the off season so there were not many people staying in the hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean with balconies looking out onto the sea. The pool was great in the heat as was the bar by the pool. It was great to just sit and relax in the Santorini sun. There was WIFI by the hotel pool and lobby but not in the rooms. The location was okay, about a 7 minute walk from the sea. Just a note: Kamari is a small town that is mostly stores and restaurants. Not the most fabulous of the Santorini towns but quaint. Overall a really great little hotel!

This was really like staying in someone's home, the owner made us feel so welcome and was incredibly friendly.

The hotel itself is not modern but don't let that put you off. It felt authentically Greek and was very clean and comfortable. There was a lovely pool which we had to ourselves most of the time. There is a bar by the pool but we never used it as we assumed it was expensive.

On our first day we were picked up promptly from the airport by the owner and once checked in we went and sat by the pool. He then came over to us and offered us some fresh figs from his garden which were lovely!

We had a self catering apartment whichi was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. It also had a lovely view over the mountains. Again, it wasn't modern and was a little dated but was authentically Greek which we were more than happy with.

On our last day we were so upset to leave! As much as Santorini itself is a magical island, the stay was made all the more special by the lovely accomodation and hospitality we received. Would love to go back one day.

Good price to be in santorini. The air conditioning was NOT working, I do not know if it ever worked. WE didn't need it anyway so much, because during the night it was not so hot.
The shower was quite little, and it was impossible to do it without having the water all around the floor. Apart from that, breakfast was good, the swimming pool very nice, the price was low for a triple room. In the end, we were happy with it.

We had booked a stay at this hotel back in early June 2009. When I arrived, Vissilias told me that it would be hard to get a "good room". He offered the basement with no view, no balcony and told me that this was it. I advised him that this was not acceptable and he stated that finding a new room would be difficult for him. He told me that breakfast was not included in this price and that he could not do anything.

It was not mentioned that the water was not drinkable, that breakfast was only until 10 a.m. The hotel itself is a 20 minute walk to anywhere and the bar is more expensive then a beachfront restaurant.

We went searching for another hotel and found a bigger room, with a homemade breakfast right on the beach with people that were so friendly they would wait for us to get home to tell them about our day. We returned to the Anastassia and mentioned all this. We offered to get a price reduction to avoid a move. take it or leave it, was the response.

When we finally decided it was better to move, Vissilias then informed us that we had to call booking com because there was a fee. Turned out that we only paid for the nights we stayed, but we feel everyone should know. If you want to stay somewhere that is amazing, stay at the Strongili hotel, they will do everything humanly possible to make you feel comfortable and welcome in San Torini.

Thank you for the vote of Cleanliness!
I remember...the hotel was full but i found a room ...you din't want to stay
you choose Strogili Hotel but this one is category B+ and we are C+
different money...Vassilis is my name and the distance is not 20 min...
2-3 min of walking for the see side or the centre of the village (400m & 250m)
Yes ... i remember the hotel lost money in your case...even if you knew that you must pay the 50% of your stay in early departure...so this rewiew is your thank you for what we did...

The Reception
This is a small family run hotel.
The room we stayed in was nice, we had a fridge Air-conditioning Balcony. The room was clean and the service was good.

The breakfast/Bar
The breakfast was not that great, consist of bread cheese and ham to be honest I wouldn't really bother as there are plenty of places to eat on the sea front. The bar was ok and the brothers are friendly and chatty enough. You can get snacks and they have a large screen outside.

The Pool area
The pool is small but clean with plenty of sun lounges and umbrellas.

The Beach
I will point out that it is about a ten minute brisk walk to the beach and shopping area. There are no street lights and the hotel is near a church and not in a built up area, this suited us fine but may not be suitable for others.

The restaurants
There are plenty of places to eat in Kamari and you do get the locals trying to get you to eat in their restaurants especially to the right end of the strip, be prepared!

Places to go
There are plenty of places to go and Sanorini is small enough to hire a car and drive round in one day.
Thira the capital of the Island is great for shopping and Oia is beautiful for sunsets it can get very busy as everyone is trying to find the perfect spot to take pictures! There are boat trips to the Volcanic Islands, take good walking shoes with you as it is a long walk and the floor is quiet hot. There is also the Hot Springs, I can't comment as I didn't have a chance to see them but was told it is worth a visit.
There are other Islands near by which you can do day trips or stay over, we went to Naxos.

My wife and I chose Hotel Anastasia as a ‘last minute’ deal because of its price and its location. Kamari is a long stretch of beachfront, Tavernas and accommodation. There is one main road in to the resort and Hotel Anastasia is located on a road that branches off to the left, just after the open air cinema and just before you come in to the main part of the village.
Transfers from the airport take only 10 minutes, but despite its close proximity, the aircraft noise doesn’t really bother you. In fact, after a short time, it becomes a bit of an event! The walk to the beachfront takes about 10 minutes. Turn left when you leave the hotel, walk for 100 metres, then a right for 200 metres and then a further left into one of kamari’s only two ‘direct main’ roads down to the beachfront (though there are many other small roads winding down and around). At the front, turn left or right for Tavernas, restaurants and shops. There are shops a little nearer to the hotel (about 5 minutes walk), but it can still be a bit of a struggle if you want to come back with a pack of water and some supplies.
The hotel owners and staff are very friendly, helpful and all in all, very nice! It is located on a small side road, with parking for 3 or 4 cars. The front of the hotel has a pool, sun loungers and a small pool bar/breakfast area. The reception area is traditional Greek hotel and our room was just what we expected for the accommodation and price. Two single beds (that we were able to push together), dressing and side table, wardrobe, telephone, fridge, television (with some watchable channels) air conditioning and a bathroom with shower. The balcony was great in as much as we were on the top floor, facing out to the sea and had a great view.
The only complaint that we had with regards the room was that it was not cleaned as often as others that we had stayed in and the bathroom was not cleaned at all during our two week stay. The bin in the toilet was emptied every day, but the rest was left as it was. We know this as the glass shelf and other surfaces were covered in soap and toothpaste which we had to clean up on a daily basis. The towels and bedding were changed three times, but we did have to ask for toilet roll and soap at one point as there was none in the room. We bring everything we need, but we have always been given a small bar of ‘hotel soap’ on the hand basin, so this was the only place where ‘when it was gone, it was gone’. We talked to other guests who said exactly the same thing. This was by no means a big problem, just something that you notice after being there a few days.
Breakfast was included and was the usual basic menu of juice, coffee with creamer, bread, butter, cheese slices, ham slices, jams and the occasional cornflakes or yoghurt. It would have been nice to have a variation or two per week, maybe a different cereal, some fruit, tomatoes, maybe even a boiled egg. A toaster at the side of the service area would also have helped to break up the monotony and we would have been more than happy to have paid a little more for this little extra.
The snacks and drinks at the bar are a little more expensive than in the resort itself (which is not unusual) and as such, there were not a lot of people ‘milling around’ having a drink before going off for dinner in the evening. They employ a very nice bar girl, who seems to spend most of her time, waiting for someone to serve, so it would seem like a good idea if they introduced a ‘pre dinner, happy hour’ where people could meet and say hello to others before they go out for the evening.
The pool area seemed to be busy most days, though we had hired a car, so went off to one of the many beaches that there are on Santorini. We came on our own and there didn’t seem to be many other people with children, though, those that were there, did seem to have a good time in and around the pool. In general, Santorini has a lot to do for all ages, relaxing, sunbathing and sightseeing, though if you come with children and plan to let them run free and enjoy themselves, then this may be a problem. The sea is clear, a little difficult to get in to at times, but the swimming is great. The beaches are mainly black volcanic sand, pebbles or rock, depending on where you go (the beach at Monolithos is quite ’family friendly’). If they are happy with a bucket and spade, splashing around in the water and playing games they will be alright. If they are’ looking to be entertained’ with lots of facilities and activities, then you may have to ‘shop around’ first.
All in all, Anastasia is a great little hotel, not too far from the main hustle and bustle, easy to get to and from, very near the local bus stops and very relaxing.
