“Definitely one of the better hotels in Laganas”
Reviewed 22 July 2013

Stayed here with my boyfriend and his cousin for 2 weeks. We are 23,25 and 29 years of age.

I researched a lot before deciding on the Poseidon Beach hotel. It was between it and the Mediterranean Beach but in the end, I went for the Poseidon as it was the cheaper of the two.

Upon arrival, I was pretty disappointed to discover how small the room was. I was also less than impressed with the bed for my boyfriends cousin. We had rang in advance to make sure it would be a full size bed, but it was in fact a fold out bed. In the end though, it made very little difference as the bed was comfortable and we spent so little time in the room, the size didn't matter. Having stayed in Crete last year, it does seem to be common for Greek hotel rooms to be very small. Our balcony overlooked the pool/sea which was great, the only gripe being that the sliding door was really difficult to open/close.

The hotels location is perfect, right on the beach and only a short walk to the strip. The sand is compacted so if you are worried about getting your clothes/shoes dirty you needn't worry and you can also use the alternative route by road. There are also lots of nice restaurants/tavernas right on the beach, Balsamico and Cool Peppers being my favourites.

The pool area was pretty crowded when I was there although I never had difficulty getting a lounger (I'm an early riser so would have my towels in place most mornings around 8). If you are too late for a lounger, there are also beds available on the beach (€3) or on the grass (€2), however lots of places along the beach will give you a free lounger for the day. The food and drink at the pool bar was reasonably priced and of good quality. We were on a bed and breakfast basis and even though I only had breakfast about 50% of the time, it got pretty repetitive (to be expected really). I was also disappointed with the fruit juices as they consisted of 90% water and a splodge of fruit concentrate.

I gather the hotel is geared towards, families and couples, however while we were there, there was a lot of 16-21 year olds (GCSEs had just finished in the UK). In general they were well behaved however on a few occasions they did get a bit loud and drunk but Management were quick to deal with them.

If I was returning to Laganas, I probably wouldn't even look around again for different accomodation and would have no hesitation in recommending to friends/families.

For anybody wanting to see the turtles, I rented a canoe for 1 hr (€5 right beside the hotel) and just paddled out a few hundred metres. Within 5 minutes I had spotted a large turtle and jumped in with my snorkel and mask and paddled along side it...amazing!

Positives - Location, cleanliness, value, service, pool, bar, on the beach
Negatives - Very slow internet (unacceptable after paying €20 for 2 weeks), patio doors difficult to open particularly from outside, small rooms

Room Tip: Pool facing as they have a sea view and are cool in the evenings

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Poseidon Beach in the resort of Laganas. We have been going to Laganas for the last 23 years (20 times in total) and this is probably the best place we have stayed. The hotel was very clean with a lovely forecourt, pool area, garden area and beach area. Sunbeds are free by the pool (very comfortable beds) but payable in the garden and beach areas. The breakfast is mainly continental in style although you can get eggs, bacon and beans if you want.
The rooms are ok with plenty of cupboard space, safe, fridge and air conditioning. The bathroom was ok with plenty of hot water, which in other accomodations we have stayed at usually an issue, with hot water running out.
The main strip is around 15 minutes walk away by road or by beach. Transfer time from airport is only 10 mins and costs 17 euro in a taxi, would take much longer by travel company coach.

Do not come to this hotel if you're a group of young people looking to party and have fun. We had a great time but the hotel and staff were poor towards us.

Firstly we were given rooms which were awful, aircon was faulty, bathroom tiles cracked, toilet seat loose, broken bed, the list continues. I also think it's ridiculous that we have to pay extra for a safe and wifi, particularly the wifi which is so incredibly unreliable it's painful to use.

However, I personally think that the hotel gave us the worst rooms as they expect a young group of people to be rowdy and damage things.

Overall though, we've had a great holiday in Laganas, the clubs are amazing, the value for money is brilliant and the food is a dream. We will definitely be coming back to Laganas and definitely not coming back to Poseidon Beach.

Just back from my 23rd visit to the poseidon hotel in zante and as ever had a fab time. As soon as you arrive and see the beautiful court yard with the impressive poseidon fountain you will know that you are at a quality hotel. The hotel is on the beach with a good sized pool ,a pool bar and snack bar which transforms into a restaurant at night. The food is of a fabulous quality regardless of if you want a snack at lunch time or a nice evening meal and the prices would be hard to beat anywhere with an excellent choice of local dishes and steaks. Once a fortnight they have a greek night for only 12 euros per adult where they have a self service buffett greek dancing and firework display which is always popular.
The rooms are clean daily and the hotel in general is spotless. Every year that we visit we see improvements whether it is the menus providing more choices or the improvements to the grounds ,but what never changes is the quality of the people which is what makes us come back year after year. From the cleaners to the wonderful receptionists, the bar staff right to the management this makes this holiday the complete package and I never have the headache of where I will be holidaying next year.

As soon as we pulled up to the Hotel, we knew we'd received an amazing deal! It was early in the morning, but the hotel looked stunning. The night receptionist quickly sorted our room keys and when asked, informed us that we could potentially move rooms closer to one another (we were in a party of 4 - 2 to each room) in the morning.

Breakfast the next morning was lovely, so much variety! From hot, cooked breakfasts to fruit and creamy Greek yoghurt to cereals and toast, everything tasted amazing and the staff couldn't have been more attentive. Fresh filtered coffee and tea making facilities, as well as juice and water were provided as well, so again, the variety was endless.

When we finally asked to move rooms, this was done with ease at no extra charge. The day receptionist (two blonde ladies) were absolutely lovely - so friendly and helpful!

The pool itself was lovely, a great size and so well maintained. At night, a water feature was added and the pool was lit up and looked captivating. We luckily had a room that faced the pool, so evenings were spent on the balcony, appreciating the view.

The hotel bar was well stocked and cocktails were made generously with lots of spirits. The main barman Chris was so friendly and funny and just added to the positive atmosphere of the holiday.

The Hotel itself couldn't be in a more ideal location! The beach was a 30 second walk away from the pool, the strip was a 10/15 minute walk and the airport was a 15/20 minute drive away.

I'd say the hotel was generally more of a family hotel, but this suited us perfectly.

The rooms itself were nice and spacious and very clean. The En Suite bathroom again was nice and clean and free soaps were provided. Rooms were cleaned everyday and Towels changed every other day. I definitely couldn't fault the room one bit!

When it came to leaving, our airport transfer left at around 2pm, but checkout was 12 midday. However, the staff kindly provided us with a room to shower in etc until 2pm, again at no extra charge!

Overall, the stay was amazing. The hotel should definitely be more of a 4 star than a 3 star.

The staff were attentive and friendly, the rooms were clean and came with free air conditioning, the Pool was excellent (as was the pool bar and restaurant) and just everything about the stay was perfect. I'd definitely recommend this Hotel to all friends and family and will definitely return in the future.

Thank you, Poseidon Beach Hotel for an amazing stay :)

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool seem to be quieter and have a better view.

Went on holiday with a group of girls, we were so happy when we pulled up here as it looked so nice on the outside. This didn't change as we went inside. Inside of being the two twin rooms we booked the man asked if we minded swapping for a joined/family room and he upgraded us to half board. Thank you for that, it saved us so much money :) The room was lovely, only downside was how stiff the door was; it was SO hard to open.
Only downside was the food after the first few days it got so boring as it was all the same. There isn't much choice at breakfast or dinner. We chose to skip some meals and go out. There are some lovely restaurants along the beach. Recommend Balsamicos and Cool Peppers!
Loved that this hotel was on the beach, our view was of it too from the balcony.
Amazing holiday in a lovely hotel!!

I have just got back from my stay here and wish I could go back straight away! We were a group of nine 17-18 year olds so obviously there for the clubbing. The hotel is a perfect distance from the strip, maybe a 15 min walk on the beach and therefore you can get some sleep.
When we first got there, the hotel was unfortunately overbooked so they sent us to another hotel in Kalamaki, not exactly our preferred choice given the lack of a proper strip. However, they promised us free safe, wifi, aircon and sunbeds for the whole of our stay, and made sure we got three rooms close together on the bottom floor which was great. They did everything to help us out, even calling our rep many times when one of us was ill.
The room itself was a good size for three people. The two proper beds were actually broken so we couldn't sit on the ends of them but were comfortable enough. Yes the maid doesn't change the sheets or the towels whilst you're there but she did sweep up daily the large amount of sand brought in from the beach after a night out.
The food and drink were overpriced I think for what it was, about 3 or 4 euros for a baguette when you could get a very decent one for 1.70 in the shop across the road, and the breakfast was disappointing, not that we made it there many times. However, this is a perfect hotel for youngsters going on the strip, and much better than the quality of hotels on the strip from what I heard. Much thanks goes to the staff for making our stay so memorable!!

Room Tip: If you can, get a bottom floor room; much easier to stumble into after a drunken night!
