My family and i highly recommend staying at poseidon! The rooms are very clean. (traveling with children that to nme is very important ) We stayed for 7 days.. and ate almost everyday at the restaurant next to the pool! The food was delicioys and they had different specials everyday! It was great that the pool was literally 10 feet away from the beach! WE CANT WAIT TO STAY THERE AGAIN!!

Me and my husband stayed at Poseidon Beach Hotel for 14 days and did not like it at all. It is definetely not a 3+ star hotel, might be a 2 star hotel by far.
When you reach Poseidon Beach Hotel u could say that you found a very nice hotel and on the outside it is painted nice, but what you find on the inside you certaintly do no expect...
The rooms are dirty, the bed sheets look grey not white as they have to be and so are the towels. All the towels and bed sheets are changed every other day but sometime the maids seem to forget to change them and you find the same dirty towels and you get no soap, unless you ask for.
Everything in the bathroom looks deplorable, you have the feeling that you're back in time, around the 90's. The door was punched out as it hit the sink and you needed to close the door, can u imagine such deed.
All the receptionists seem to be disturbed if you have something to ask and they're friendly only to the Greek customers.
The breakfast is the same every day with the difference that every other day instead of tomatoes you get small pieces of watermelon which is quite nasty as they seem to be the same as 2 days ago.
We had even a very ugly surprise to find FUSTY butter and never get an apologie for that! The coffee is horible, there are no olives or vegetables in a country that is recognised for the productions of these...whatever....In a word the food is horrible and does ot worth a penny.
We would never go back to Poseidon Beach Hotel and never reccomend it to anyone, the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.

My friend and I have just returned from 11 nights at the Poseidon. We booked it having seen it two years ago when we were last in Laganas. Last time we were there our accomodation was terrible and it seemed that most hotels in Laganas were of the same standard. However we saw the Poseidon and it looked amazing compared!
When we arrived the staff were very friendly, and were throughout our stay. They were very helpful, answering our questions and dealing with any problems quickly.
On arrival our room was ready and clean. It was a decent size and had a TV and air conditioning which is free in July and August. However, it did not work and when we informed reception they told us it was being fixed that day. I was dubious as in my experience the Greeks like to tell you what you want to hear! However they were true to their word and it was sorted when we returned after a day on the beach.
We were lucky with the room we were given as it was a side sea room and we could see the beach. The bathroom was small and dated but fine for what we needed. We saw another bathroom while we were there and that was newer so i think it depends on your luck.
The hotel is a European hotel, with many people from all over Europe. This is not a problem at all and was quite nice to be with different people. We weren't aware of any English people staying there for the first few days.
The only small problem with this hotel was the noise. The walls were very thin and first thing in the morning people would slam doors and talk in their loudest voices in the corridors. Also, on the first night we had a problem with our neighbours. They were yooung Serbian lads and must have bought their bass speakers with them! We mentioned it to reception who dealt immediately with the problem and we had no problems after that.
The hotel is in an ideal location. A 5 minute stroll down the beac brings you to loads of restaurants. On the road by the hotel there are also plenty of restaurants and shops, and a 10 minute walk will take you to the strip. It is in a lovely, quiet area of Laganas.
Overall we had a great stay at the Poseidon Beach.

The hotel is very well situated close to the beach. The rooms are generally clean and spacious. The staff however were really not friendly and we felt that we were disturbing them anytime we went to reception and made us feel like we were stupid anytime we talked to them. The big problem in this hotel were the large groups of young english who tend to spend their days getting drunk and shoutting around the hotel during the night. Not very relaxing nights spent in this hotel. Might be different at a different time of year.

We spent 12 days in hotel Poseidon Beach 19. - 30.6.2009.
Location:
Hotel is on the beach, nice situated. you can relax on the beach during the day and in the evening you can go for a walk to the center. Sunbeds are free in pool area, on grass area in front of the hotel are 5Euro(and you can have discount 2euro in hotel bufet). On the beach area are 6Euro. The best sunbeds are on the right side the hotel beach - there is Havana beach club - very very nice beach bar and sunbeds are for 5Euro. And sunbeds you have enough space betwen umbrellas
Hotel:
clean. bathroom is very small. room - we had room with 3 beds, so room was quite big. we had side sea view. some rooms has view to the street, but reception tried to put there young groups (british boys and girls, sometimes very noisy). it is very important, if you have quiet neighbours, because you can hear everything from room next to you. beds are making noise:-)
food:
there are only breakfasts - very basic.bread, butter, jam, 2types of salami,1 type of cheese., jogurt and some cookies. very specific is this thing - they serve one day tomatos and one day feta cheese.so if you like tomatos, you can eat them every other day. by the swiming pool there is restaurant and you can buy there lunch - very good is pita gyros (3euro) and tzatziky (2,30 euro). we had dinners in hotel meditarian - next to the poseidon beach. dinners was excellent.
turtles:
dont buy turtle trips (10 euro per person)- you can swim with diving goggles and you can see them gratis - and it is much better, if you can swim and wath under the wather. we saw them manytimes - not far from the sea coast.
sea:
very shallow, good for children. nice temperature.

Dont drink wine in beach bar - terrible!!

We (me and my husband) spent 14 nights in this hotel, and we don't have complains! What about that?
It is a 3 stars hotel. Very, very clean. Breakfast - basic but the cookies are home backed and excellent.
Pool area with enough beds and umbrellas (free). The hotel is on the beach, so if you want a bed there it will cost you 6 euro, but if you choose the garden beds it will be 5 euro with a refund of 2 for pool bar or buffet. Restaurants on the beach offer you free beds, just try.
Plenty of restaurants in the area, both on the beach and all over Laganas.
Very good food and atmosphere at beach restaurant Horizon (you turn right on the beach, and after the first 3-4 restaurants), and I have to mention Jimmy (Dimitri – a Canadian Greek that works over summer in Zakynthos) a very special host.
For trips and car rental you have to inform yourself, do not rush to the first offer, because here you can negotiate, and believe me you can save some good money. I recommend for trips Cavo Grosso and for car rental Eurozante. Take the trip for Kefalonia (one hour by ferry), see the Blue Caves and the shipwreck. Go to the eastern coast to Dafne (tavern Porto Mella – good fresh fish in generous quantities), and to the western coast to Limnionas.
As I said it was one of our best holidays

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Poseidon Beach hotel in Zante and although loved the break we would have liked a better hotel.
Rooms- all twin rooms are tiny and the bathroom even smaller.Dont go on the ground floor you get ants come in, i'm not being petty but we went with our 14 mth baby and wasn't practical.Walked into our room on 1st day and no cot had been arranged and there was no tv.Needless to say i got us moved in the morning. We went into one of the family rooms that are located on the left and right of the car park as you come in.No lift but plenty of room and a bigger balcony.
Breakfast-typical continental/greek spread if you like ham/tomato in the morning your sorted if not it's toast or cornflakes.
Pool area-enough sunbeds to go round and kept clean.Alot of large single steps around the pool that with a baby kept us on our toes.Pool/jacuzzi and kids pool all kept immaculately clean. No charge for sunbeds a 5 euro charge for on the grass area in front of the beach(2 euro back if you got food) and 6 euro on the beach.Beach very good, water very shallow for a long way out so good for kids.Pedalos and boats all reasonable.
Eating Out-this is the one big dissappointment for us.the quality of the food was not good at all.We were told there were a lot of albanian run restaurants being passed off as traditional greek .Every night you always felt harrassed by the guys outside the restaurants and they were all basically the same. There are only 2 restaurants we recommend 1.Toad in the hole- Yani and his english wife Angela offer english food with excellent service and tasty food. 2.The best greek restaurant in the area is the Horizon restaurant on the beach, excellent food/service and fire dancing every night. We went there 5 times in 2 weeks having been told about it by other people who also were tired with the poor food being offered.

Make use of a car and tour the island it has many beauty spots and helps to break up the really hot sunny days.Zante town is good to visit, lots of shopping can be done and people tend to be not as hard in selling.
Overall Zante is a beautiful island but if you go then stay clear of Laganas and kalamaki stay in Tsvili its better.
