Just got back from ClubHotel Riu Chiclana . we had a FANTASTIC time there . The hotel is great for kids and adults . Three pools one with a bar in , one with a pirate ship in . Lots of sun beds , we never had trouble to get 6 together . The food is very good . Great choice with 4 restaurants , breakfasts & evening meals were excellent and if you get peckish the lunch and snacks are good too . All the staff were very friendly . Just a short walk across sand dunes to a most glorious beach , the beach is gently slopping so good for kids . To see the sunset from the dunes is a must . This was the second year we holidayed here and we hope to go back there next year . Just one thing missing , the hotel is isolated so no town or village to wonder round in the evening but with those sunsets who needs shops ?

If you want a relaxing holiday just by the pool and beach you can't get better than here

Room Tip: We had rooms 3506 / 7 / 9 very quiet

We had a 2 week stay here from the 11th July. We had a really enjoyable holiday. The hotel was clean, the gardens immaculate and the staff friendly and helpful. The animation team were fanastic - we're always a bit wary of the entertainment when on holiday but we loved all their shows and found them hilarious at times - all the team were also very friendly. The food was good, a bit repetitive but we were there for 2 weeks. The room was fine, we had some lovely animals made out of towels - thankyou! The only niggle was the sofa bed which was uncomfortable, creaky and needs replacing. Our main issue was the sunbed situation around the pool - firstly too many beds crowded around the pool area - i think if the towel situation, that is people reserving beds with towels and then not using them for 1/2 and whole days was sorted ie rules enforced then less beds would be required whilst also ensuring everyone had a bed when they NEEDED it. Loved the slushy pool bar. Other than a few niggles which didn't affect the fact we had an amazing holiday we would reccomend this hotel.

With Thompson Holidays, flights and turnarounds were excellent even on the busiest week of
the start of school holidays, half hour from landing to on the coach and only 50 mins to the
resort. A nice welcome and bags were taken by porters to rooms, all the staff were very
friendly and went out of their way to please on many occasions throughout holiday. Rooms were kept very clean and the whole place was cared for and looked after by teams of very enthusiastic staff. Food was great, and copious amounts of varying types was available round the clock. Pool areas were covered in loungers, top tip "get your towels out onto your lounger before breakfast,"nobody seemed to remove them,as everyone was doing the same thing. Near to beach which is lovely and goes on for miles,Atlantic gets rough but good for body boarding.
Entertainment was generally performed by the reps and was reasonable but amateur, though the Germans and Spanish holiday makers loved it, only about 150 British within the 1500+ guests so nice to be away from home, and the other nationalities were always polite Overall an excellent holiday, great hotel, good weather and plenty to do if you want it. Recommend it..

Room Tip: go for a quiet block away from the restaurants and entertainment areas

Stayed at this hotel for 12 days in july after much debate of if we should go back to mallorca again we have a sports mad 17year old with us so always have to find a hotel with tennis football etc also pirate ship etc for our 4 year old well this hotel fitted the bill perfectly . It had a 10. Mile beach right on your door step beautiful swimming pools that were not too deep and football every single day at 10 30 followed by volley ball etc also there is a small night club that stays open until 1 30 am . Food was very good plenty of choice maybe would have been nice if there had been ice lollies like a lot of all inclusive s do but thats a very small moan also the wi fi there was only 90 consecutive minutes allowed for each room a day and you could only get that in reception , maybe next year they will be able to sort this out as we were told this was the first year they had wi fi. The hotel is immaculate , gardens beautifully looked after and staff are all happy to help. Plenty of sun beds and loads of parasols everywhere . Its a good 20 minute walk to the nearest chemist and supermarket ,hotel has a shop that does the usual postcards rubber rings sun tan lotion etc Mallorca will have to go some to beat this hotel well done riu .

From check in to check out I cannot fault the Riu Chiclana. Upon arrival staff met the coach, issued bands to enable use of all facilities immediately and offered a glass of chilled fresh orange (that was very welcome). Within 5 or so minutes check in was complete and we were in our room (luggage was brought to us within 10 minutes).

Three of us in the room and more than enough space to move about. The balcony did not have full sun but we thought this a bonus as it helped to keep the room cool. The beds (including the camp bed) were comfortable and the room spotlessly clean throughout our stay including the nice touches of animals made from towels etc. Plenty of storage for the 3 of us, flat screen tv and fridge (not stocked with drinks however reception will issue however many 1.5l bottles of water you care to ask for).

Breakfast, lunch and dinner you are offered a wide variety of options (do feel if you are unable to find something to your liking you are particularly finicky). If you miss lunch (I'd did most days as too full from breakfast) snacks are available in the form of burgers, hot dogs, fries, salad, cakes and ice cream so you won't go hungry. The main restaurant you can just turn up - the grill & italian share a building (the italian is where you will find the snacks served after 3pm) and you need to book. This wasn't an issue - still self-service but a smaller venue and so not as busy (think booking is likely to be due to numbers they can cater for).

All public areas, including the pool are extremely clean with all staff very hard working - in this I include management who work alongside their colleagues. All managers are introduced to you at the welcome meeting with the hotel manager asking should something not be as you wish please say as any constructive criticism would be welcomed - a nice touch I thought.

We did not have any children with us but those we did see seemed to be having a great time. The entertainments team were extremely enthusiastic and worked hard day and night - although the shows were not really our cup of tea you could not fault the effort put in.

The 80 steps to the beach are not as bad as they sound - they are a wooden structure with banks of several steps followed by a small landing then another bank - not a bad climb down or up. As you are on the atlantic the water does take your breath away a little but once in is fine. Need to be careful as quite choppy although this added to the fun. Beach, as with the hotel, is clean and sandy (nothing to hurt your feet as you get in the sea!

If you like a resort that allows you to wander around little shops etc this is not the place for you as there is not much outside of the hotel. We went for a relaxing break and that's exactly what we got - I cannot praise the staff or organisation enough and will definitely look at Riu hotels in the future.

Almost forgot - there was not one drink we were charged for from wine to beer to spirits to cocktails! All measures were ample and the wine on tap went down well - certainly not one to make you pull a face!

A huge thank you to all staff at the Riu Chiclana - we certainly returned home fully refreshed!

Room Tip: Block 33 room 39 - near pool and restaurants but far enough away from any entertainment noise

We loved this hotel - the location is great, right by the beach (although admittedly you have to go down/up around 80 steps to it), pools are brilliant and the entertainment is fabulous. The entertainment team are incredible - they perform in the evening show (which finishes around 11.30pm) but are still bright and cheery the next morning when wandering around the resort. The food is great - our favourite restaurant for dinner was the Italian, which has all the usual things (pizza, pasta, etc) plus a great salad bar. Drinks are available throughout the day (including beer, wine and cocktails) and are included (save for named brands) in the price.

When you first step into the reception/lobby you can instantly tell that Riu Chiclana is a quality hotel full of friendly staff who really care.
There's nothing we can really fault about this hotel. Everything was immaculate from the rooms to the well kept gardens surrounding the hotel. I'm fairly sure every member of staff I encountered went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect for us and that we had a great stay. Every single one of them greet you as you walk around, which again shows the quality of the hotel.
For those worried about the food and drink, it really is fantastic here. We all really enjoyed the food at every meal. I feel like the quality was above the standard you'd expect from an all inclusive hotel; especially one who caters for nearly 1000 guests. We loved the fact that there were 4 different restaurants with different themed cuisines you can choose from. There was a decent variety of drinks at the bars; again better than we expected. The bar staff were definitely very generous with their spirit measurements!
The rooms were kitted out with 32" TVs inclusive of english channels on the satellite. I found this surprising since most hotels don't include this, but it was a nice touch. Another nice touch was the door separating the room from the actual door to the hallway. It gave me a heightened sense of security and also dampened the noise from the hallway quite a bit. The rooms were cleaned very well and even sometimes included towels made into animals!
The entertainment was overall very good. We very much enjoyed the illusion act and would highly recommend it. Some of the other shows were a bit corny for us, but seemed to be enjoyed by others. There was also activities by the pool and at centres over the hotel complex.
Additional appreciated extras were free pool towels and 90 minutes of wifi a day.
So wrapping this up, we had a fantastic time here and would consider going back. If you do choose this hotel, it will not be a decision you regret.
