We had dinner at the restaurant while visiting a couple of friends from Melbourne that were staying at the hotel. My husband and I had the Tandoori Chicken and it was very tasty and yummy. Our friends had the Portofino which I didnt tried but they said it was nice. Also we ordered the Rocket Salad, it was very yummy. Service was quite good and prices are OK.

Four of us ate there one night last week during a conference.

It was certainly nice and convenient to have a stand alone Italian Restaurant within the hotel, but the food and service was 'just OK'.

There were some unusual pizza's to be had, with Duck Breast and Lamb Kebabs, for example. I had the Portofino and it was OK. Not the best base, yes it was thin and the ingredients were just OK (Salami was tasteless) but the pizza was quite oily, probably because there was too much cheese.

The risotto was again just OK as was the beef but I must say our teenage son loved the spaghetti with meatballs.

The service was quite slow, even though there were only about 20 people in the restaurant at the time and our request for a heater came as we got to desserts, having asked for it when we sat down.

The restaurant has a nice open air setting, but at night in mid winter it was cold and blowy, even with the large plastic curtains in place.

All in all, not the worst Italian we have ever eaten at, but not the best.

Unfortunately this restaurant lacks the simplicity of Italian food. It is the Aussie take on Italian. Over thought and totally over cream'd. The only thing more regrettable than the food was the service. The people were very nice but couldn't remember 2 things together and we were always repetitively asking for the same simple things like water and wine.

We ate there 2 nights running (travelling with teenagers). The first night was great. We just had pizza and drinks. The pizzas were excellent and priced appropriately. The next night we went but hadn't booked. They generously made room for us after a short wait however the service was so slow that we could have eaten and left twice over! We were surrounded by empty tables and although the staff were lovely and very obliging it was difficult to see why they couldn't step up the pace a bit to get more diners through.

Fantastic restaurant with great service and even better food. We had Brushetta as an entree - this was just like the food we had in Italy - delicious, followed by a Chicken Pizza with a peach chutney - this was fantastic the combination of flavours was extrodinary - the peach gave it a sweet taste with a bit of zing from the chutney - drizzled with yoghurt. We finished off with a tirramasu desert. This was a fantastic meal and restaurant. Highly recommend eating here if staying at the Royal Pines
