This building is now about 24 - 25 years old, and is tired inside. The apartment needs to be MODERNISED. The price does not fit the apartment. The full flush on ensuite toilet didn't work, taps dripping profusely, BUGS in the light fittings (no excuse for that), a light fitting in lounge NOT WORKING, bird poo on verandah, grass growing on the verandah!!!! Old furniture just does not do it for me!! Surely, the house keeping staff should make sure EVERYTHING WORKS, NO TAPS DRIPPING ETC ETC!!

We were at the Meriton over Christmas 2012. It is in a good location right on Tedder Avenue so it's easy to pop downstairs to get supplies. There are some good coffee shops, bakeries bottle shops etc.

The apartment was roomy and had a large balcony. The view from our apartment on the 13th floor was excellent and included the estuary, hinterland and beach views. The beach is a good five minute walk so you can't really hear the ocean from the apartment.

The downside of the apartment was that it was not very clean. Quite grubby and everything had to be washed and cleaned thoroughly before use. The garbage disposal in the foyer was so smelly we only tried to use it once.

As the price was quite economical I wasn't expecting anything too plush but cleanliness is something that would be quite easy to fix and make this quite a good value place to stay.

We stayed in a three-bedroom apartment facing the ocean and Woodroffe Ave. The apartment was really spacious with a pleasant, relaxing decor and on the whole, clean. There were plenty of spaces to be on your own or sit in a group e.g. lounge, dining and balcony. The master room was private, with a roomy wardrobe and ensuite bathroom. We found the apartment well stocked with kitchen utensils and crockery and the laundry had two clothes airers that we made great use of. The room temperature was moderate, only requiring the odd use of air-con if we'd been out and the apartment closed up. The broadband connection was pretty good but did slow right down at peak usage times. The pools were excellent, we loved them. The cost was very reasonable, especially for a three-bedroom apartment.
When we entered the apartment we were bowled over by it, by the time we left it felt like home where you start to notice the flaws. The shower doors we dodgy and didn't slide well in both bathrooms. The dining-table chairs needed a good scrub and some of the drawers in the bedroom were broken. Also, the vacuum cleaner was so full of lint and crud it failed to suck anything until we gave it a really good clean, thus finding an old shopping receipt blocking the filter. It worked great after that. The telephone was really old and you had to hold the cord in the hand-receiver or it fell out.
Arriving on the weekend was a bit of an issue for me. With the owners not working weekends you get your room instructions (which are very helpful but hard to read when there are lots of you holding suitcases and you just want to get to your room) via the mailbox and we had to ask other occupants a few things since the desk was closed over the weekends. I wasn't sure if linen needed to be changed daily/every few days so we just washed everything we had while we stayed there. There were no flannels or hand towels either so we bought some for the week we stayed. I'm sure the owners would have been more than helpful if they were on hand and perhaps I should have asked those sorts of questions before we booked but we don't travel often so therefore don't know what to ask. By the time Monday rolled around we'd pretty much figured out all we needed to so didn't have to ask staff anything.
Apart from those things we loved our apartment, it really felt like a home away from home. When we did speak with the owners it was only when we payed the bill. They were very friendly and efficient. The area was fantastic, the beach just luscious, Tedder Ave was a bit pricey so be prepared. We went to the Main Beach Bakery and we wouldn't recommend it, for service or product. In contrast the Newsagency Supermarket, though pricey, had nice food, lots of products and great friendly smiling staff. A smile goes a long way. We visited the Provincial Restaurant twice, Indian Fusian once and the Lemongrass Thai once. The indian and thai restaurants certainly didn't meet our kiwi high standards but they are very popular with the locals. On the whole the area is fairly close to everything we wanted, shopping malls, beach, restaurants and theme parks. We'd definitely stay in this area and at these apartments again.

Room Tip: The birds though fascinating are REALLY noisy and start making noise very early in the morning. If y...

Super friendly and efficient staff, smiles and helpfullness all the time.
Studio with ocean view @ really good prices with a huge verandah and wonderful views.
Starbucks coffee a few minutes walk away, the Casino and Pacific Fair just across the road.
Large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer, dryer, iron, a teapot (very important), big TV, wonderfully comfortable bed, clean linen and nice toiletries.
Total value for money and can't wait to go back. :)

Room Tip: Corner studio has a bigger balcony, small gym but good for a quick workout.

This is a very well priced hotel. Our room was tired and sparsly furnished. The lampshades were broken, but the bed was pretty comfortable.
The best part of this hotel was the view over the broadwater of Southport and beyond. This very is very special.
The dryer was average and old, the kettle was plastic, not enough toilet paper. It just lacks something. It's very basic. The 2nd bedroom is not airconditioned and the window are unable to be opened. Something to consider if staying in warmer months. The room we stayed in needs a make-over. It's all a bit blah.

We booked the Meriton on Main Beach apartment based on a combination of price, location and reviews.

The apartment was a three bedroom on the 11th floor of a reasonably modern looking block a very short distance from the shops and restaurants of Main Beach (Tedder Avenue).

The area appeared to be quite up-market with more than it's fair share of high marque cars and well healed clients in the coffee shops and restaurants.

The apartment itself was spacious, with three bedrooms, one en-suite, a large lounge, separate dining area, fully fitted kitchen and separate laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer. A good sized TV, surround sound, DVD and VHS players were also provided.

The kitchen was equipped with full sized hob, oven, microwave, electric cooking pan, etc.

The only reason I've not given the full 5 stars would be that there were some very minor issues with the apartment, namely a few areas where there was un-repaired damage to window sills and signs of damp (possibly down to inadequate ventilation in the laundry room), but overall we were very pleased with the comfort and facilities in the apartment and wouldn't hesitate to book the apartment again.

Surfer's Paradise is a short (3km) walk or drive from the apartment, which offers a wider selection of shops, restaurants to suit all budgets and a more vibrant night life, but if you're looking for somewhere close to the action but with a bit more of an upmarket feel and quieter nights, then Main Beach is definitely the place to be.

In addition to the apartment you have use of the swimming pool, sauna, hot tub, tennis courts (with rackets and balls available) and gymnasium.

Parking is provided for 1 car per apartment via a secure underground garage, with access to both the garage and lifts restricted to those with electronic keys. Access to the apartment floors is also via electronic key.

Room Tip: The three bed apartments afford fabulous views 11/62 for example offered stunning views both inland...

After looking around for a two bedder on the Gold Coast for Easter we selected Meriton on Main. From the moment we arrived I was glad we did. We were very happy with our 14th floor apartment. Beautiful view of Southport area in the spit (between Australia Fair and Seaworld) and also ocean glimpses. The apartment was spacious and the kitchen was incredibly well resourced. We had no trouble finding just about every utensil you could think of. The apartment was not styled straight out of a recent magazine but there were two big bathrooms, a great balcony and another smaller off the master, the beds were very comfortable and there was a big lounge. There is an indoor pool, outdoor pool, spa and sauna. Walking distance to the beach. $10 cab to Surfers. But why stay in Surfers when down the road is this much nicer relaxing pretty area! (Not to mention the much better accom price!) My expectations were well and truly exceeded here. We had a wonderful long easter weekend and will be back.

Room Tip: We were in Room 79 on the 14th floor.
